If you dug the IRON MAN 2 game Sega put out earlier this year to tie-in with the movie, get ready… the house of Sonic is giving Cap the same treatment next year. Comic Vine’s received a press release letting us know about CAPTAIN AMERICA: SUPER SOLIDER, a mutli-platform release that’s finally giving the sentinel of liberty his own vidya game in this “next gen." Just as IRON MAN 2 was scripted by Matt Fraction, this one’s employing Christos Gage for a story set in the same framework as the Cap movie.
The game's description provided some more clues about what the plot of the flick is going to be. Basically, Cap’s going to be infiltrating Hydra's mysterious, castle-fortified military base and battling legions of the Red Skull’s minions including Iron Cross, Arnim Zola and all of Zola’s horrific creations. You can see said fiendishly-anachronistic “experiments” in the pics provided below. Sharp-eyed one will notice that concept art of Hydra’s green-haired Viper is included.
As with Crimson Dynamo and all the AIM agents in the IRON MAN 2 game, I don’t suspect that characters’ inclusion in the game guarantees they’ll be appearing in the movie. It does seem clear that they’re taking care to stress that Hyrda’s a organization autonomous from the Nazis, meaning we’ll probably see them in the later movies without the political encumbrance of a Neo-Nazi agenda.
== TEASER == But what about the gameplay? Sega’s describing this as 3D beat ‘em up with plenty of acrobatic-stylattacks. It sounds like Cap’s shield is going to be deciding gimmick too. He can use to block attacks, take multiple enemies out at once, scale walls and even solve some puzzles.
