Predator X is on the loose, and nothing will ever be the same for the New X-Men! Part 4 (of 4)!
X-23 and Hellion encounter a small army and Kimura in their efforts to rescue Mercury. Hellion defeats Kimura but refuses to kill her, insisting to X-23 that they have to be better than their enemies. They are then attacked by several “Predator X” creatures that were created at the request of William Stryker. Stryker learned of a “mutant antichrist” who would turn the tide in mutantkind’s favor. Predator X was developed using Mercury’s skin and designed to feed exclusively on mutant blood. The Predator X creatures quickly overwhelm the two young mutants and things go from bad to worse when a fresh contingent of Facility guards surround them. At that moment, the X-Men and remaining New X-Men arrive with a ONE Sentinel and quickly make short work of the remaining Facility forces. One of the Predator X creatures survives the battle and escapes. Upon their return to the Institute, Mercury reaches out to X-23 for support while Emma Frost deals with the continuing threat of Kimura. She confronts Kimura with her abusive past and the fact that she has becoming the same kind of bullying abuser she who victimized her in her youth. Emma erases Kimura’s memories of her grandmother, the only person who ever showed her any love or kindness. She then sets her on a mission to torment those who ran the Facility, starting with the man who tortured Mercury: Dr. Harkins. With one threat eliminated, another emerges as long-time X-Men ally Amanda Sefton returns to Earth in a blazing ball of fire with an ominous warning.

You can always count on New X-Men to be a good comic book. The quality is always between Fine and Great, never going any lower then that. The only problem this series might have (if you even consider it a problem) is that most issues are either all plot, or all action. If Kyle and Yost could find a way to put both in one issue, it would elevate the quality of the series even higher. Even if they don't though, I rarely have any complaints about this series.
The Mercury Falling story arc comes to it's conclusion here, and it's satisfactory. The issue is mostly all action, and isn't bad at all. There's a few good character scenes here, one particular funny scene involving Rockslide and Kitty Pryde. Rockslide is becoming one of my favorite characters of the book. He's kinda like the X-Men's version of the Thing except less mature.
Another thing this series has going for it, is almost all the characters are likable, and each character seems to go through more traumatic experiences then the regular X-Men squads. The writers really like to put these guys through the wringer, and it makes the issues seem more important as a whole.
Although it's not close to being the best issue of the series, if this is the worst that it gets, then you know you're reading a great book.
