New Warriors

New Warriors is a comic book team that first appeared in Thor #411

The New Warriors was brought together by Night Thrasher to fight crime. Now, through its various recarnations, Counter-Force has renamed themselves with the New Warriors name.

The Original New Warriors
Night Thrasher, using his vast wealth, formed the supergroup The New Warriors. The starting team consisted of Nova, Namorita, Firestar, Marvel Boy, Speedball, and Night Thrasher himself. The roster changed frequently, many members leaving and coming. Giving a constant flow of different happiness and problems within the team.

Night Thrasher had originally gathered Nova, Marvel Boy (Vance Astrovik), and Firestar as the New Warriors. As soon as they had gathered they heard about Tarex rampaging through a local park. They then went to fight him, and found Namorita and Speedball had joined the battle. Beating Tarex together, the five heroes unknowingly were on the way to creating something great. After this, they decided together to make a team, the team became known as the New Warriors.

When Night Thrasher started running low on funds, he decided to offer the group up for a reality show. Most of the group did not agree with this idea and left. Leaving Night Thrasher distressed on what he needed to do in order to gain more funds while having members agree with his idea.

Civil War

Not much was known or remembered of the New Warriors in the Marvel Universe until recently during their fight with the villain, Nitro. In the end, Nitro caused a massive explosion, killing almost all of the group members (Namorita, Night Thrasher and Microbe) except Speedball. More importantly to the public, an abundant amount of innocent bystanders perished during the explosion also. The result was the introduction of the Super-Human Registration Act which divided the Marvel Universe in half and resulted in the currently infamous Civil War.

Now their names will go down in infamy but it won't be for the reasons they had hoped. Speedball, the only surviving member, was chastised and tortured and eventually became the Penance, a member of the "reformed" super-villain group Thunderbolts. The team was in its closure for a long while.

Post Civil War

Superpowered criminals began turning up captured all over New York with notes attached that said simply "NW". Then a street near a scene of one of these apprehensions was gratified with the phrase "The New Warriors Were Here". The scandel caught on fire, and many realized that the New Warriors were on their way coming back, however not with the many heroes that had participated in the team before

A new New Warriors team was formed, with mutants that were de-powered after M-Day.

The current headquarters for the New Warriors is Arcade's old base, Murderworld.

This team incarnation had the following roster, filled with many members:

Night Thrasher (formerly Bandit) Wondra (formerly Jubilee) Decibel (formerly Chamber) Blackwing (formerly Beak) Tempest (formerly Angel Salvadore) Phaser (formerly Radian) Skybolt (formerly Redneck) Ripcord (formerly Stacy X) Renascence (formerly Wind Dancer)

The team also included Longstrike, formerly codenamed Tattoo, until she was killed by the Zodiac's Cancer. Longstrike, sister of New Warriors member Phaser, was said to be ill-prepared during training sessions and only eager during actual combat. If you think about it, not a good situation on her hand.

The team nearly disbanded until Renascence joined the illustrious roster. She urged the group to stick together after they had all experienced abandonment following M-Day. But the team finally met the end after a traumatic experience visiting the future. Night Thrasher witnessed his dream becoming reality as his dead brother Dwayne Taylor was brought back to life. But Dwayne embraced a totalitarian vision for the world and wearing the Iron Man armor, became the world leader and sent all the heroes to prison if not being executed. The New Warriors met a new Night Thrasher ( Tony Stark) and with Donyell Taylor's help, defeated Dwayne.

When they returned to the present time line, the teams' trust in their reason to continue the fight for good against evil was completely shattered. Night Thrasher was unable to keep his role as leader, Wondra decided to leave the team and follow her own path, and the rest of the team thanked Donyell for the opportunity and left the New Warriors too. The team was shattered in pieces, all from one simple, but traumatic experience while visiting the future.

It seems that Counter-Force has now renamed themselves as the New Warriors, including Donyell Taylor to their roster. They fought Ragnarok in Camp Hammond when they use the team's name for the first time, and quoting Rage, the name New Warriors is something they are proud of, and they were taking the name back.

This is the New Warriors current roster:

Night Thrasher

Justice

Debrii

Rage

Michael (although he was murdered by Ragnarok in the first battle of the team)

Patrick

Slapstick

Ultragirl

Alternate Realities

MC2

In this universe, there is an alternate reality version of the New Warriors founded by Spider-Girl, and now run by the Phil Urich.

Spider-Girl had gathered them to help take down Angel Face and Funny Face, and to essentially fight street crime that A-class heroes like the Avengers would never touch. The roster was made out of the Buzz, Raptor, Darkdevil, Phil Urich as the Golden Goblin and Ladyhawk. The team is sponsored by Normie Osborn.

House of M

In this reality, Luke Cage made treaties with human rival gangs to defeat the mutant rule. One gang called the Wolfpack, which is made out of mostly New Warriors members from the mainstream universe, such as Rage, Speedball, Turbo, Darkhawk, Alex Power as Zero-G and Julie Power as Lightspeed.
