Overview:
Exiled comes to an end and it was better than expected
The Good:
Well I was truly surprised by the ending; I really didn’t see the solution to the Desir coming. It wasn’t the most original but it was executed well, I hope that they are used more because they could change the power balance among the rulers of various hells. So as a crossover this was a pretty good issue.
As a New Mutants issue this continues on the hot streak that the series has been on lately. The most intriguing development is the turn that the Magma-Mephisto relationship takes. Mephisto makes some interesting comments to Kid Loki and it has me really interested in what is going to happen next.
The writing was solid, as the series goes on it is getting better and better and this issue is no different. The art looks better in this issue than the previous because everyone is decked out in Asguardian style armor and it looks better. I liked how this crossover focused on whatever team the issue starred, in the last Journey Into Mystery, it focused on the Asguardians and here it was far more balanced.
The Bad:
Kid Loki. He is still going all Deus Ex Machina on everything and it is a little annoying how this whole crossover focused mostly on him and was an excuse to get him out of New Asgardia (whatever it is called) because except for Hela, the other Asguardians didn’t do much.
The art, while better, is still not my favorite.
Verdict:
A good end to a decent crossover and it had some major shake-ups and I am very interested to see where it goes. It does a great job of not only ending Exiled in a fairly complete way but also sets up what could be great stories in the New Mutants future.
