With the passing of the New Gods a couple of years ago, we saw DC via Jim Starlin shutting the door in a big way on many of the inhabitants of the Fourth World. Being a New Gods fan as well as a reader of Vertigo it occurred to me that the Fourth World as envisioned by Jack Kirby is similar in its insular qualities to the Fables world or Gaiman's Endless. I personally think, you could have a New Gods book put out by Vertigo that features self-contained stories. I know a major problem with that is that an A-list DC villain like Darkseid could not be outsourced to Vertigo easily if at all. Anybody else like the New Gods and/or want to see them back in fairly mainstream comics? While, I like what little I've read of them, I won't profess to be an expert, so if anything I've said is completely invalid, feel free to rip it apart.
