End Of An Era
Steve Rogers is back and together with the help of Nick Fury and his Secret Warriors, they lead a group of Avengers to Asgard against Norman Osborn and his evil forces.
My Thoughts:This marks the end of this series which ran for a total of 64 issues (not counting Annuals). Brian Michael Bendis has been the series writer since the very beginning and gives this series a proper send off. This installment of the series leads up to and ties in to Siege as well as give closure afterwards.
You get the usual humor (Spider-Man banter), action and plot development when reading this series. What makes it even more exciting is that Steve Rogers is back. It's only fitting as he was there when this team was formed. Nick Fury being involved again only made this more fun to read. Bendis nicely intertwines these events with Siege while also giving readers one last adventure where the Avengers capture The Hood, Madame Masque and Count Nefaria.
There were too many inconsistencies in the artwork which caused a rather tiresome distraction while reading. The multitude of different styles, some of which were great while others not so much, sort of ruined the comic experience for me. The stand out issue in terms of artwork was in the finale issue where Bryan Hitch delivers some beautifully designed art. Hands down the best art in this comic. He's a talented artist and did a great job giving this series the proper send off it deserved.
I would not only recommend this story arc but this entire series for Marvel fans. It has definitely been a fun and exciting ride full of great characters and stories. I look forward to reading the relaunch of this series starting in The Heroic Age.
