    New Avengers still rocks 2

I was a little bit worried on hearing the news that Stuart Immonen was off the art duties on New Avengers beginning with this issue, but after reading it I needn't have worried. New Avengers doesn't miss a beat, and I think it's mostly due to Bendis being on fire right now with his Avengers titles. This is a fill-in issue in between story arcs and it's still hilarious and action packed, just like the issues before it. Basically, Power Man and Jessica Jones go on a date. Or try to. And Luke Cage ...

It is date night for Luke Cage and Jessica Jones in a very entertaining issue of New Avengers that tackles the issue of Jessica's future with the team and whether she's going to stay civilian or become a superhero again.  Some may still complain about a Luke Cage and Jessica Jones-centric issue, but this is New Avengers. Where have you been? Brian Michael Bendis has the voices of these two characters down so well that an issue featuring the two of them is always a treat. Their conversation about...

    Date night, superhero style. 0

Synopsis: Luke Cage and Jessica Jones try to enjoy a nice dinner together...until Doctor Doom shows up. What's good? The relationship with Luke and Jessica felt rocky during Dark Reign, but they clearly love each other. I see this in this issue as well. The jokes hold up well with Luke trying to persuade his wife to come out of retirement and call herself Power Woman which leads into a single page debate on the matter thanks to Bendis writing. But there's one thing Bendis reminds readers (for l...

Just when you thought you could take the night off! 0

The New Avengers #8 It's finally time for Luke and Jess to have a nice relaxing evening out. Superhero couple normally don't get to do this often and if they do attempt it the evening usually goes awry. The main topic of discussion for the two is Jess's place on the team. Jess is still looking to see who she is and where her life is taking her. All new things are being thrown her way and she still has not gotten to be honest with herself to see who she is. Dawning a super hero persona again is d...

    Becoming the Best Person 0

Bendis delivers such an amazing self contained issue proving that when it comes to dialogues about normal, regular and commom issues between couples and friends there´s no one better than him. Unfortunally he´s becoming more and more stigmatized as a writer that only does good stuff when this kind of subject is involved: a dinner that goes wrong and a good and nice fuzzy dialogue in breakfast time. Don´t get me wrong, I loved this issue, but I´m afraid that´s the best Bendis can do with this Ave...
