    Doomed

Namor may be a little over his head since he started this new league of super villains, called the Cabal, to destroy alternate earths. When you enlist Corvus Glaive, Maximus, and Thanos, I really don't know what you were expecting. The book starts off with some rather intense scenes of the Cabal murdering their way across a world and having a gay old time. On this alternate earth, the Cabal comes face to face with Professor X, who they torture while making him beg for death. I'm really not joking, this shit is not for kids or some adults for that matter. What it does do is set up a very strong team of villains and I am already excited to see our heroes go head to head with them in the future. You know it's going to be epic and writer Jonathan Hickman does not disappoint.

People thought Man of Steel was destruction porn, but this is next level. We have been seeing Namor's fall to the dark side during this series, but even he has a major problem with the evil he has unleashed in the universe. However, he is too far gone to seek the help of heroes, and we learned from the last issue of Avengers that Shield is hunting Namor and the other members of the Illuminati. So what can Namor do in the face of uncontrollable doom? The answer is simple: fight Doom with Doom.

I really enjoyed the setup of Dr. Doom in this issue and we discover he is well aware of the incoming destruction of life, the universe, and everything, but is taking steps to save the world. Dr. Doom maybe a villain but he still lives on Earth and I'm sure he would prefer to keep living like a boss with his own country than be, you know... dead. I don't know if this is the way the story is going, but if the heroes fail and Dr. Doom saves the universe... I would be okay with that. I personally want to see more of Dr. Doom in this series, because Hickman writes him in such an authoritative yet regal way, that makes you just want to side with the guy. In one scene, he explains how he can sleep at night while he eats huge feasts and his people go hungry. It's a real look into the mind of dictators and how they must view the world, but it also doesn't feel out of character. Doom will keep his people safe from the end of the world and they will thank him for it, and yes, Doom eats first and the very best.
