    Dark Avengers Rise Again!

In my opinion, the best (and possibly only) good thing to come out of the Avengers 1959/Superia & HAMMER arc from New Avengers, was the promise that Norman Osborn would soon be a threat in everyone's side again. I loved the initial concept behind Dark Reign and felt that Osborn was truly an inspired choice to assume a role that made him the Marvel U's top baddie. And why not, he's clearly been one of Spider-Man's best foes for several decades. When Superia was finally captured and slipped the Goblin emblem, I got excited. Luckily we didn't have to wait too long, and after the events of NA #16.1 we now have Osborn again taking control of HAMMER, but this time instead of trying to replace SHIELD, his organization is more akin to a revolutionist's cult. *Spoilers Follow* Others recognize Norman's potential and have now flocked to him, creating a new Cabal with partnerships with HYDRA, AIM, and a splinter group of the Hand. This only adds to the excitement that Normie's putting the band back together! THE GOOD The promise this new arc holds makes me excited and I won't lie, it's been a while that I could say I was truly excited about a story arc at Marvel. But, I love that Bendis is dipping into some areas of the MU that I am glad are touched. Characters like Skaar and Gorgon shouldn't be banished to exist only in the pages of Hulk or Wolverine. I am also happy to see Ragnarok show up too. Something that dangerous, which was ultimately a mistake made by heroes should show up to remind them of past sins. The pacing was great and the mix of characters should make New Avengers a book to watch this coming year. THE BAD I have nothing to really nitpik. I wasn't over the moon on the internal art, but it did it's job so I'll leave it be. THE VERDICT I can only hope that all of this posturing doesn't do one of two things (if not both): 1- Have a huge build up that quickly either fizzles out or is lame 2- Doesn't become the next Marvel "Big Event"...which seem to either fizzle or be lame For now though, I revel in Norman's return as a major player. Perhaps he and his new team may even cross paths with Wonder Man and his Revengers...assuming we didn't let that interesting concept fizzle out. Oh, and for the love of Stan Lee, let's get Osborn some armor!!!

Better Lineup Than the Revengers 0

The Dark Avengers rise again in this issue while the New Avengers take a break from appearing in their own book. Norman Osborn's recruitment of his new team is done well enough that it makes up for the lack of the usual stars in this one issue, though. This reads like the typical first issue of a new team book in which you have team members being introduced and recruited. This is the kind of issue Brian Michael Bendis has done well in the past, and that holds true here as well. Osborn, in believa...

Dark Avengers are FINALLY back!I waited for a triumphant return a loong time.Back in 2010 when Dark Avengers was ending I was sad because it was my favorite comic of the year(and past years as well!) so when I heard back in August that Dark Avengers would be back I jumped out of my seat.Norman Osborn is more badass now than ever and seems that he learned from his past mistakes and re-created the group with the same rules: "Villains dressed as Heroes" but now he put together a more precise and co...
