    History

Admitted into a mental institution at 14, Alex Nero was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and bi-polar issues. The Qwardians gave him a yellow power ring to stop the Green Lantern, Kyle Rayner. They wanted someone who was imaginative as Rayner and Nero drew horrible creatures when he was young. He went on a rampage and beat both Kyle Rayner and Alan Scott. Later, Kyle had the Justice League to help fight Nero.  They finally beat him by showing tapes of his parents which then made him go crazy and  he made constructs of his parents which taunted him. He then disappeared. He came back later to fight Kyle Rayner again. Kyle then became Ion and beat him and he was transported away by the Qwardains. He reappeared yet again masquerading as Ion and killing many people. Hal Jordan and Kyle Rayner found him and took him to the Guardians of the Universe. He was put in a  Sciencell and later released when the Sinestro Corps attacked Oa, managing to free  Superman-Prime and the Cyborg Superman. He stayed in hiding until he found Kyle Rayner training Sodom Yat, helping him be better with the Ion being. Nero attacked them but was defeated by Yat who turned Nero's own constructs against him.

Nero later fought alongside Sinestro's soldiers and was once again imprisoned on Oa following the Sinestro Corps final defeat. During the War of Light, the renegade Guardian Scar let loose the captured Sinestro Corps rings in an attempt to cause a riot within the Sciencells. The Green Lantern Corps rushed into action to quell the riot, ultimately succeeding in disarming the Sinestro Corps prisoners. As the rest of the Corps worked to douse the many fires raging on Oa, the Alpha Lanterns mysteriously transported the captured prisoners to a secluded location and commenced executing them under the Guardians orders. Salaak was alerted to the numerous energy blasts and sent Lanterns Kyle Rayner and Guy Gardner to investigate. The two earth Lantern's attempted to stop the Alpha's executions but were unable to stop the Alpha Lantern Green Man from fulfilling his directive and executing Nero. Nero was shot point blank in the head and by all accounts, was killed instantly.

Nero would later become a Black Lantern with the others Scien Cell members who were executed.

    Powers and Abilities

Qwardian (Yellow) Power Ring:  Sinestro Corps members use yellow power rings, which were built on the planet Qward. The yellow power rings give the wielder the ability to create constructs in the form of whatever objects its bearer can imagine. The power rings also provide flight, force fields and communication. Fuelled by fear, the yellow power rings are charged by Manhunter androids. They have in-bulit yellow power batteries, which are connected to the large power battery based on Qward. The only weakness of a yellow power ring is that its transition and power can be greatly disrupted by the presence of a Blue Lantern. The yellow rings have the same recharging limitations as the other Lanterns.
