Nereel was a native girl from the Savage Land. Her friend Shakani and herself were saved by Colossus from a thunder lizard and fell in love with him. Wishing to add his strength to her tribe, Nereel mated with Colossus who was engaging in intercourse for the first time.

Colossus later return to the Savage Land and saw a much more matured Nerell who now had a son Peter, and was head tribesman. Colossus did not know that Peter was his son even after several hints, but Longshot had figures it but had promised Nereel not to reveal his identity to his teammate.

Mr. Sinister who has shown interest in the Rasputin family since is unaware of Peter.
