    Proper Japanese Title: 新世紀エヴァンゲリオン (Shin Seiki Evangerion)

    Originally serialized in Shonen Ace (1994-2009) and Young Ace (2009-2013).

    A manga adaptation of GAINAX's Evangelion series, which started just prior to its television run and ran until 2013. For the most part it follows the plotline of the anime closely, however Sadamoto has adapted the plot where he sees fit to give this alternate retelling of the series its own feel. The main characters are Shinji Ikari, Rei Ayanami and Asuka Soryu who are pitted to do battle against Lovecraftian horrors known as the Angels.

    Translated into English as Neon Genesis Evangelion by Viz.
