Hello. As many of you already know, today officially marks the start of the bi-annual Nemi Appreciation Week/Day/Month event. So for the next few days feel free to think, talk, discuss and celebrate Nemi more than usual. I will be creating special Nemi threads to mark the celebration, some review threads, possibly a respect thread, and a blog explaining why I like Nemi.

Today lets start simple. Who is Nemi? Nemi Montoya is a character created by Lise Myhre, she appeared first in Norwegian newspaper comic strips, but she also made her way to several other countries newspaper strips including notably the UK's Metro. Eventually she got her own books that would compile the small strips, the easiest and best way to read about the character.

Character wise Nemi is Norwegian Goth, who loves heavy metal, she's very creative, artistic and also a bit of an outsider. She loves comics, video games, drinking, dragons, staying up too late, she can be a bit violent and prone to an overactive imagination. She can also be extremely opinionated as well. There's more to Nemi than that, but we can save that for later.

If anyone would like a free Nemi avatar to use for a while, feel free to take one of the ones I have made below. If you have any friends who like Nemi, remind them, if you have friends who don't know Nemi, consider introducing them to her. See you next time and thank you!

@xwraith: Oh Nemi is definitely a great girl to date! Though… she is quite picky… and often thinks about what it would be like to have a mustache. Also she has trouble maintaining long term work, and is addicted to chocolate. If you are green though that doesn't bother her. She is a talented poet though… kind of…

@impurestcheese: Nice Cyan avatar! My favorite Nemi moments tend to have Cyan in them, and my favorite Nemi moment ever is when she threatens some stranger after that are being mean to Cyan.

@sc: Well tis the season, and yes Cyan is my favourite character in the comic strips. And while it isn't the same (or as interesting) I did some tree felling work for the woman who draws Fred Basset a few years back

@impurestcheese: Oh thats pretty interesting, on multiple levels, I didn't know you were an arborist heh heh. I also aren't that familiar with Fred Basset, but I remedied that somewhat since your post. I enjoyed the comic strips I did come across, i'll probably do more research later too, thank you for mentioning them.

@sc: I trained as a tree surgeon during uni (and still do some freelance tree cutting at times) but was seduced into ecology shortly after graduating,thus becoming the ecological consultant I am today

@bumpyboo: Awh yey the closet thing to an actual real life Nemi, Bumpyboo! Man imagine Nemi and Cyan having their very own Youtube or Twitch channel where they play video games. That would be the best thing ever! Gasp - one day you have to start your own video game Lets Plays and have people like Sammy, myself and your other friends occasionally co-host heh heh.

Day Two of the Official Nemi Appreciation Week is official started… err… well yeah its a few days after Day One but see that the thing, the "Man" and his calendars of propaganda are always trying to tell you what time it is, what day and date it is, well you know what? We don't have to conform to what the "Man" wants, we won't conform to the government or the authority or the Man, in Nemi time tomorrow isn't necessarily just the day after today, but uh… whatever day… you want it to be… and if that means getting fired occasionally, missing friends Birthdays, finding yourself lost and confused in Peru naked, its just the price to pay for uh… stuff. YEAH! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!
