Mark Millar’s been teasing about there being some huge Millarworld movie announcement and I suppose they don’t run much bigger than a major director like Tony Scott handling a NEMESIS adaptation. Bleeding
ran the scoop first and it’s been confirmed by Deadline. I’ll give it to Millar, this guy is getting things done.  When he was talking about NEMESIS  already being in the pipeline as a movie, I was a little skeptical and, after this, I’m pretty sure he isn’t kidding about what he’s been saying that Matthew Vaughn already trying to get SUPERIOR off the ground as a movie. The man knows how to promote himself and get his work out there.

Man… having Tony Scott direct a super-hero movie would be really wild. I can’t even picture his kinetic, heavy coverage style used for this kind of outlandish carnage. Sure, outlandish carnage is his trademark, but all of his movies have been more-or-less set in the real world so far. Anyway, if you somehow aren’t familiar with Tony Scott’s filmographies, he’s directing some a slew of memorable action movies like TOP GUN, THE LAST BOY SCOUT, MAN ON FIRE and ENEMY OF THE STATE. == TEASER ==

I wonder if this’ll give Millar’s brother’s sky-diving-as-Nemesis stunt even more attention. Maybe he ought to wait to jump until this project’s closer to being off the ground.

Anyway, what do you Comic Vine maniacs think about this? Are you stoked to see a NEMESIS movie? What do you think of Tony Scott directing it?

Too early, if you ask me.

Mark Millar is becoming the "Steven King" comic book version of being adapted from their literature,
ha, here's to hoping they don't "hollywood" them down like the morbid tragedy that was Wanted

Seriously? What is it about Millar's stuff that makes people want to turn it into a movie before it's even finished? Superior's first issue is still a ways from dropping and they're talking about a movie?

Tont Scott?
eh, he'll make the scenes way too long and overly dramatic, using a ton of different camera angles. And above all else he loves using Denzel Washington, so i wont be surprised to see him as Nemsis. if you ask me, i really dont think Tony Scott should direct this movie, it's way too epic for him to handle.

Mark Miller does have a knack for getting his comics to film.

True but this guy is backed by Marvel.

I like the series so far, but I don't see why they're rushing in to making it a movie so soon. And same with Superior. Sounds like the movie will come out before the comic does.

If Tony Scott is directing a movie based on it, then Mark Millar just sold his comic book to me.
I am a longtime Tony Scott fanatic.  I'm kind of sad to see that you didn't mention some of his other films like True Romance and Domino, both of which played a ton with film stocks and frame shots.  Domino was especially great, as he overdeveloped the film stock in order to give it this acid trip type of look.  Crimson Tide was another great flick, but one of my absolute favorites is Spy Game.  Brad Pitt and Robert Redford were f#$!ing AMAZING in that flick, and the story as a whole was well done.  However, the movie wouldn't have been nearly as slick if Tony hadn't been behind the camera.
He and Ridley are also the only directors that can make a movie where I like seeing Denzel Washington in the film.

Wow, now I might read Nemesis, possibly.

I don't know about Nemesis, but he seems like a "kick-ass" character to me, if you know what I mean ;)

@iLLituracy: I agree. I liked the first issue. Let down by the second.

His style can easily be adapted to movies, he has kind of a movie way of telling his stories

They're going to make a movie about a comic that's only gone 2 issues?

#18 Posted by Emperor Gonzo Noir (19714 posts) - - Show Bio

For those who don't know, Mark Millar has essentially been writing these comics, so they would be made into movies

So true

Seriously? This is like Kick-Ass it was already being made into a movie barely halfway into the first volume. This is ridiculous there's only been 2 issues and Superior isn't even out annoying.

ooooooh, so Millar's the guy Babs is always talking about who writes comics simply to make movies out of them?

If it's anything like Kick Ass I'll probably like it

Exactly.  He's not even giving people time to see if they like the character or even the story.

you forgot his best movie all, TRUE ROMANCE - it aint white boy day.  This is GREAT NEWS

not deserved.

Let me get issue #3, THEN I'll see the movie.

#32 Posted by SilverMan91 (431 posts) - - Show Bio really not very sure about all all this they guy.....and hollywood always rushes to fight more in less time even though it is done in a very unsophisticated manner.

Unoriginal exploitation is rewarded, is this the 1970s all over again? What's next? Mark Millar Presents: "Day of the Mother******* Woman!"

Don't give him any ideas...

It will be a successful among that general populace as it will be tagged with "From the Writer of Kick-Ass"
But yes, way too early for this to even being thought about IMO, finish the series first

I like Nemesis, and I think it will be an awsome movie.

This wont be anything like Kick-Ass.  Tony Scott will edit the absolute freakin' crap out of this thing so the viewer HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS HAPPENING.  Just in case you might be able to follow what's going on he'll digitally color code the thing all to hell for good measure so it looks like a million color wheels were puked into a giant bucket.   Millar is already at his worst when he has too much freedom.  He has an ego the size of Alaska.  The first issue of Nemesis (which I actually liked) had an afterward written by Millar that took longer to read than the comic and was only about how awesome he is and blah blah blah.

#40 Posted by ALDISSIMO (18 posts) - - Show Bio

The movie is going to blow just like Kick-Ass. They'll change it all up (even though we all haven't even read it all) dumb it down for the average movie goer, and maybe make it PG-13 HAHA!I can't wait I'll support Marvel even if it sucks those bastards!

#41 Posted by welshguy (197 posts) - - Show Bio

Well kids, here's a good lesson for you. Write derivative juvenile tosh without an ounce of originality and you too can have it made into a hollywood movie with a respected director at the helm.
Not that I'm bitter, you understand.
I find it hard to like anything Millar writes and nothing he has done in the past few years has appealed to me in any way.
Its all well and good to take an established character, alter the looks, background and personality and call it your own but Millar seems unable to make his creations interesting and/or likeable.

They might as well hire Christopher Nolan and title it "This is not a Dark Knight knock-off.... in any way"

#43 Posted by sythspawn (48 posts) - - Show Bio

Oh, goody - another Millar comic will get turned into a movie before the story's finished. That worked so well for Wanted and Kick-Ass.

#44 Posted by Winfield (116 posts) - - Show Bio

Has Tony Scott done anything of note? Ive never heard of him

#45 Posted by the_fallen11 (636 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm not a fan of this, why would this movie be interesting to anyone..Just watch the Dark Knight and pretend the story was being told from the Jokers point a view. done.

#46 Posted by Pizawle (1074 posts) - - Show Bio

The narrative lacks depth. Do not see it working as well as Kick-Ass as a film. Scott directing would not give me any more hope for it.

#47 Posted by notorious (37 posts) - - Show Bio

already ?
#48 Posted by Cubethulhu (180 posts) - - Show Bio

I don't know the series is kind of boring plus the kick-ass movie sucked so I'm not to stoked.
#49 Posted by EnterTheHero (28 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm looking forward to not watching this movie already!

I'm not exactly floored by this news.  More Millar hype to me.
