Carey & Fabry's version is the best of the franchise

A good comic can fully utilize the best effects and potentials of other media, like cinema, television, novels, and if done well, will make the best realization of the product.  Having consumed the novel, BBC TV show, and this comic, it feels like the comic came out on top because it successfully uses the best of the other media (including the language of cinema; even though no film's been made of it yet, I have great hopes that said film, in turn, will become my favorite; but La! what can one do?  The characters Croup, Vandemar and deCarabas, Islington, Hunter and of course Door herself, all come off to their best effect here.  It's just freakin' awesome dude, knowhutimeanvern?
