This caused friction with Marcus Driver, another detective who was seeing Chandler. Two days before christmas, Patton and Chandler teamed up to try to stop the Joker from killing Angie Molina, a local news reporter. They found Molina chained to a bomb in a stockroom of a crowded department store. Patton told Chandler to clear the store and remained behind trying to get the reporter down. Batman appeared and was able to free the reporter but couldn't save Patton, who died in the explosion.
