Natasha Romanoff was a KGB agent and scientist. While working with a team of Russian cosmonauts, she and her compatriots was exposed to cosmic radiation which granted her superhuman abilities. The four went on to become the Ultimate Federalist Freedom Fighters, a superhuman military team.

Natasha Romanoff is able to convert her body into pure electromagnetic energy. This allows her to manipulate various forms of magnetism and electricity, as well as grants her the power of flight.
