I know nothing.

Namor gets too much crap on this sight, yes he's an arrogant a$$hole but guess what that's what he's been since his first appearance. He has the most consistent personality in the history of the Marvel Universe. He's gone toe to toe with Marvel's biggest badasses and has won more than he's lost. And despite his arrogance he's treated Sue Storm with more respect than her husband (Marvel's actual biggest douche) ever has.
I don't think that's possible... He's not a punk he's a king. He was a king with the Phoenix force, he did what he wanted because he can. That's what kings typically do. Go on rampages fueled by the mighty vagina.

Could not agree more. Namor's awesome.
@allthatsgeek: If Namor's a punk then Wolverine and Iron Man are straight up b**ches since he's kicked both their asses.
I've grown to somewhat like Namor over the past year. I wouldn't care if he died after AvX but I wouldn't mind him hanging around either. I don't know what is next for him. He flooded an entire city while under the PF influence and I'll wait to see what happens after.
I think he deserves his own series. And a little more respect. He's one of marvels oldest characters and he's never changed his ways. He's always looking out for himself or his kingdom I like that about him the most. One thing I always say is "awh namor you dawg!!" when he punched stark in illuminati. when he puts the Mac on sue and when he banged that under water queen fish thing. And when he attacked an entire kingdom. You dawg!
@One_Eye: I wasn't speaking against Namor, I love the fact that he's an unapologetic asshole. In a room full of heroes trying to convince others of the greater good he's the guy that dares people to stop him. While his fault in AVX is debatable I will always love the fact that he's a character never afraid to say exactly whats on his mind and literally just doesn't give a f**k what anyone thinks of him.
@god_spawn: That's not the first time he's flooded a city, hell his first appearance had him considering it.
@god_spawn: Namor has always been the problem child or the Marvel hero community, he's been a threat just as often as he's helped out. He does what is best for himself and Atlantis above all else sometimes it just happens to coincide with the side the heroes are fighting on. Also he has full diplomatic immunity so he'll probably get off scott free
@god_spawn: I got your point just saying that its not like Namor was the most trusted guy by anyone before this so AVX probably isn't going to change how he's currently regarded by the other heroes all that much.
@god_spawn: Its the same with Hulk after World War Hulk, everyone acted like it was a huge shift in how people saw him but when you look at his history its pretty much the same as its always been.
This, God I hate him.I'm hoping for a Black Panther claw through the chest.
Namor is a punk and has it coming.
maybe from here on (until "NOW" of course) they will switch around his character after even he sees how much of a pheonix five d-bag he was and how many people he hurt. maybe Marvel will add more depth to his character and make him more than just the angry fish guy that comes out of the water to make the land-walkers pay every few months. I hope

yes!
Since we don't know what happened to him after he lost the PF, or where he is now, it's hard to say. If, as it looks, the X-Men abandoned him and the Atlanteans in Wakanda, I doubt he'll continue his alliance with them. If there was some sort of off panel support, and Namor continues the alliance, I can see him with the remnants of the Extinction Team or whoever is still fighting against assimilation with the Avengers. Though, I'm beginning to wonder if he'll be on Hickman's New Avengers, after all is said and done. What is next for the prince of the seven seas? Will he remain an "X-men"? Will he make a comeback? What have you read of Namor? Because if you've read any of his ongoings or mini-series, you'd know, there's plenty of depth to the character. The characterization is strong enough that he's survived over 70 years with it intact. It's just as a guest star or on a team book, you rarely see anything but the plot device the writer needs. He was the original poster child for alienation and dealt with all the hated and feared stuff the X-Men are known for, looong before they were created. He's dealt with race and his biracial status on panel, repeatedly. He's had many a tragic romance, and betrayals and friendships. He's more unpredictable and flexible than most other Marvel characters -- name anyone else that could have been on both the Illuminati and the Cabal? Or been an ally of both Dr. Doom and the Fantastic Four?maybe from here on (until "NOW" of course) they will switch around his character after even he sees how much of a pheonix five d-bag he was and how many people he hurt. maybe Marvel will add more depth to his character and make him more than just the angry fish guy that comes out of the water to make the land-walkers pay every few months. @Rheged: Namor has a lot of the same problems Superman does, one being that many people who've never actually read the character in his own book, or even paid any attention to him when he wasn't directly dealing with a character they like come in knowing practically nothing about the character and decide he sucks. You can spot the people who don't know anything easily tho, I regularly hear people calling him an Aquaman rip off, despite the fact that he appeared 2 years before him and the 2 characters also possess several powers that the other doesn't. One question I have, how come Wolverine gets a pass for being an unapologetic asshat but Namor gets crap for being arrogant. Namor is a king, he was raised to think he was superior what's Wolverine's excuse?
Oh, I agree. And there's any number of reasons to NOT like Namor. But to complain he has no depth of characterization? The fact that he can stride the line between villain and hero puts him two jumps ahead in characterization over most others. In fact, I'd argue, many people that don't like Namor, don't like him because he's not some straight arrow, do-gooder -- they don't like the depth of characterization.@Rheged: Namor has a lot of the same problems Superman does, one being that many people who've never actually read the character in his own book, or even paid any attention to him when he wasn't directly dealing with a character they like come in knowing practically nothing about the character and decide he sucks. @Rheged: I like to describe Namor as the first Marvel Anti-Hero, and he was one of the first Super Heroes to have moral ambiguity. He changed from threat to hero and back again with every story arc at a time when most Super heroes were dealing in black and white good vs bad.
Man you last 3 people who posted are pretty effin inspirational. My friends thought I wAs weird because while they claimed spider man bat man and wolverine while I adored the good king I know people think. Oh namor? He's a d-bag. But he's such multicolored character there's more sides to him than I've seen anywhere else. Even in his most recent ongoing it shows his struggles with pride and insecurity in namor goes to hell. Honestly he's a half human mutant king of atlantis. The dudes under pressure he runs a kingdom and still finds time to crack skulls and lay down some serious Pipe. Its pretty disrespectful IMO for namor marvels first mutant and one of their first characters to not have his own ongoing. That's what he needs a well written ongoing series with struggles of kingship and underwater affairs that's a whole universe down there marvel hasn't really used as much as I would like. He needs plenty of guest appearances and cut him in to some major story arcs. Anyone who hates namor hasn't read namor enough I've spent my life sampling many heroes and teams. But no one really compares to namor. Maybe it's time for him to get a wife too! And a kid!
