Ultra Fanboys/Fangirls

Cassidy

I have been informed this man is the one who got the one who showed me Vertigo, interested in Vertigo, so that makes him my...grandfather?

Some of His Favorites: John Constantine - Hellblazer, Preacher

Spider Jerusalem

One of the first of the Church of Vertigo, he is the one who converted this group's founder to that which is the greatest publisher of them all, Vertigo!

Some of His Favorites: Transmetropolitan, The Sandman, John Constantine: Hellblazer, Sandman Mystery Theatre, Jonny Double, Pride of Baghdad, Loveless, The Exterminators, We3

Lucifer Morningstar

The founder of this coalition of Vertigo lovers, he is perhaps obsessed with the publisher and all of its works but he tries his best to hide his fanboyism when making new converts. Once they're sucked in however, all hell breaks loose.

Some of His Favorites: Lucifer, American Virgin, The Sandman, Bite Club, The Books of Magic, Beware the Creeper, Preacher, The Witching, Y: The Last Man, Death: The High Cost of Living

Yorick Brown

Perhaps one the most professional and educated of all of us, albeit a drunk, this guy has quite the vast knowledge of many different publisher's and their works and from all those choices he's declared this his favorite, which means, EVERYONE needs to read some Vertigo!

Some of His Favorites: Y: The Last Man, Preacher, Haunted Tank, House of Mystery, Transmetropolitan

Destiny of the Endless

One of the three men who helped make this site and a comic fan of many years, he is best known for his fanboyism of Madman but has also enjoyed quite a few Vertigo comics in his time, which means they must obviously be good! the scene transforms like in The Fellowship of the Ring movie when Gandalf confronts Bilbo Baggins and the room turns black Read them or perish!

Some of His Favorites: Fables, Y: The Last Man, The Books of Magic, The Sandman, Pride of Baghdad, Transmetropolitan

Robert Gadling

An ultra-Vertigo lover, he's probably one of the biggest Sandman fans out there and he's even got a copy signed by Neil Gaiman!!!

Some of His Favorites: The Sandman

Death of the Endless

A self-proclaimed die-hard Vertigo fan, she's also in the running for Death's biggest fan!

Some of Her Favorites: The Sandman, Lucifer, Fables, The Books of Magic, Madame Xanadu

Tank Girl

A true fangirl, she was our first female member, but hopefully she's proud of it because she has learned of the awesomeness that is Vertigo!

Some of Her Favorites: Tank Girl - The Odyssey, Lucifer, The Sandman, Bite Club

Black Orchid

That's right! Amongst our fan-club we have our very own comic book letterer!! She loves the writings of names such as Dave Louapre and and Bill Willingham and although most of her favorite comics are too "out there" for Vertigo, she still has enjoyed quite the abundance of Vertigo comics.

Some of Her Favorites: The Sandman, Sebastian O, John Constantine - Hellblazer, Black Orchid, American Freak - A Tale of the Un-Men, Proposition Player, Fables, Jack of Fables, Bite Club

Dr. Occult

A big Vertigo reader, although not as showy of his fanboyishness as some, he truly has earned the rights to be an ultra fanboy.

Some of His Favorites: Preacher, The Sandman, The Books of Magic, The Invisibles Vol. 1/The Invisibles Vol. 2/The Invisibles Vol. 3, Transmetropolitan, Lucifer, 100 Bullets, The Dreaming, Y: The Last Man, Fables, Jack of Fables, Hell Eternal, I Die At Midnight, The Unseen Hand, Dr. Occult, The Phantom Stranger, The Geek

Some of Her Favorites: Fables, Jack of Fables, 1001 Nights of Snowfall, The Sandman, Hellblazer

Mervyn Pumpkinhead

I'm still working on making up something that sounds cool for this part.

Some of His Favorites: The Sandman, The Dreaming, Unknown Soldier, John Constantine - Hellblazer, Jonah Hex

Swamp Thing

A fine addition to this coalition of nuts and other oddities and as an added bonus, he knows how to submit stuff too =D

Some of His Favorites: The Sandman, Swamp Thing, Preacher, Lucifer, John Constantine - Hellblazer, Y: The Last Man

Saint of Killers

Quite the knowledgeable fellow in the world of comics, he says Vertigo is a 9 of out of 10 easy from what's he's read.

Some of His Favorites: The Sandman, The Sandman Presents: Lucifer, Preacher Special: Saint of Killers, Preacher Special: One Man's War, Lucifer: Nirvana

Chas Chandler

Obsessed with Hellblazer, he is a Vertigo nut through and through.

A devout Vertigo fanboy with a love for the comics so great that he is just as nutty as the rest of us, well, most of us anyway.

Some of His Favorites: V for Vendetta, DMZ, Fight for Tomorrow, 100 Bullets, Jonny Double, We3, Preacher, Adventures in the Rifle Brigade, Air, Transmetropolitan, The Losers

Rose Red

One of this site's many great members, she reviews dozens of comics as well as cosplays, but most importantly, she enjoys some Vertigo comics in her free time as well!

Some of Her Favorites: Fables, The Sandman

Cole Burns

A 100 Bullets fanboy, not that you can read the title and not love the comic, he enjoys comics from the Vertigo label but 100 Bullets holds the #1 ranking.

Some of His Favorites: 100 Bullets, The Losers, Preacher

John Constantine

Ha! That's right folks! He has been converted, showing that even the greatest non-believer can be converted to the Truth! All Hail Vertigo! ...though he does lose some points for still allying himself with those Marvelites...

Some of His Favorites: John Constantine - Hellblazer, Fables, Preacher, 100 Bullets, Lucifer, Transmetropolitan

Fanboy/Fangirl-Wannabees

Snow White

Although she did not originally tell me I could add her to the page, she has confessed to enjoying a single Vertigo volume, in fact it may be her favorite comic of all time and so I feel that's enough to add her to the list, and the fact that she's a staff member which means not including her could only bring bad luck on this Church of the Vertigo.

Some of Her Favorites: V for Vendetta

V

Although currently more of a DC fanboy than a follower of the Vertigo faith, he still seeks to become one with the great Vertigo and its line of comics but until he does, feel free to mock his inferiority.

Some of His Favorites: V for Vendetta, Doom Patrol, The Filth, Animal Man, The Books of Magic, Demo

Christopher Rudd

A potential ultra fanboy, at the moment he is still delving into its mighty world.

Some of His Favorites: Lucifer, Preacher, John Constantine - Hellblazer

Cain

Another one of the three men who helped make this site and also a comic fan for many years, he unfortunately missed out on a lot of the good stuff in the Vertigo line but plans to right that wrong, starting with picking up some Transmet.

Some of His Favorites: Y: The Last Man

Morpheus

Not having dabbled enough in the world of Vertigo yet to be a true fanboy, he at least realizes their bounty far outdoes that of the likes of marvel and dc.

Some of His Favorites: The Sandman, Lucifer

Honorary Members

NerdMan

Although NerdMan left the Vine long before this page was ever made, the fact is the term Vertigo Nut was stolen from this thread of his and since its clear he is one, he gets an honorary membership on the page.

Some of His Favorites: Animal Man, V for Vendetta, Doom Patrol, Fables, Jack of Fables, Y: The Last Man, Testament

Our Gods

Here you will find a listing of just some of the many gods we worship.

Neil Gaiman

British novelist and comic book writer, he is perhaps best known for his work on the Vertigo series, The Sandman, and it is his writings for several different series that can be acknowledged as the very reason for the Vertigo imprint's creation.

Brian K. Vaughan (Y: The Last Man)
Mike Carey (Lucifer)
Garth Ennis (Preacher)
Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan)
Alan Moore (V for Vendetta/Swamp Thing)
Bill Willingham (Fables)

Well, I know its a few days late, but the only person who seems to care is this week's winner, yes, that's right, as much as I am reluctant to say it (my looking down upon him for over a year is no secret)...John Constantine is this week's winner. So yeah, congratulate him, 'cause I can't :P

He did show the most Vertigo fanboy-ism this week, I was simply reluctant to award him because of past sins but it seems he is slowly walking towards the light that is Vertigo and our jobs as Vertigo lovers is to push him in headfirst and hold him under until he's forced to breathe in and let it fill his lungs with the life-giving works of literature.

So yeah, he did some work this week on Lucifer characters and story arcs, Preacher story arcs, and the Dizzy Cordova bio (finally 100 Bullets is getting some respect)!

As for me, Lucifer Morningstar, I just did some work on Northlanders and Swamp Thing (Vol. 4) as well as the page for which I'm named and the new Matthew page. I also reviewed, Bang! Tango #1, American Virgin #1, Young Liars #11 and Northlanders #1, check them out!

So that said...three cheers for the Hellblazer!

Yes, that's right, the weekly Nut of the Week shall be announced once again today, though I'm considering making this monthly since submissions are usually rare and far between. Hopefully they'll pick up eventually. And maybe one day pigs will fly, yeah...

Anyways, contributions this week come from Lucifer Morningstar, Destiny of the Endless, Spider Jerusalem, Yorick Brown and John Constantine.

So who did the most (Vertigo stuff) this week you ask, well let's go down the list in reverse order...

5 - Destiny made subs to four Transmetropolitan issues, 7-10 to be exact, 5 points a piece.

4 - Spider reviewed the first issue of one of those more obscure titles, Cruel and Unusual.

3 - Constantine did a couple little subs, mainly directed towards Preacher issues, short summaries, the like, too bad for him MShades did most of the stuff already. (your last three subs count for next week)

2 - Yorick Brown made a three point submission to Haunted Tank #5 and more importantly reviewed it as well, gaining some brownie points there because I begged him to write that review and I wasn't disappointed with it.

1 - Than there's Lucifer who reviewed, the first issue of Scalped and and the newest series by Vertigo, Seaguy - The Slaves of Mickey Eye. Besides that I credited some characters and creators for a slew of comics including well, I'm not bored enough to look through the one thousand five hundred subs I made this week but there was obviously some Seaguy and Scalped, some Swamp Thing, some Sandman, some Young Liars, some Air, some Madame Xanadu, some Northlanders, some Bang! Tango, and many other new comics.

Now you ask, out of all these choices who is the winner? I would love to say Destiny just because...but I chose the guy who helped me with the VNU stuff, because, well Spider's won a couple times...and I wanted someone else to.

WINNER!
WINNER!

Added by VNU on March 29, 2009

Who's the nut of the week this week you ask? Unfortunately I have to give it to myself, Lucifer Morningstar since I can't find anyone else whose done anything this week...

You'd think I want to choose myself but to tell you the truth this is extremely discouraging, there should be way more Vertigo nuts out there on this site. Anyways, my contributions this week were a review of two first issues, the first belonging to a comic published about five years back, Beware the Creeper and the other being the first issue of a currently ongoing comic I have happened to recently become obsessed with, Young Liars.

Apart from that I made some general info submissions to the Young Liars volume, Bite Club: Vampire Crime Unit volume, added a dozen or so characters and a bunch of other odds and ends. I also added some info to the Vertigo publisher page itself...

So yes, sadly I won...someone else step up! Vertigo needs to be represented!

Added by VNU on March 22, 2009

Sorry, I realize this is a day late in being posted, I was on vacation for the week, which would also explain why only one person was eligible for this week's title, since I wasn't around to prod all of you until you did something. Anyways, the winner is, like last week Spider Jerusalem who has doubled the length of his Enigma page which to me looks like it is still an ongoing project so hopefully we'll be seeing more from our Nut of the Week for the first two weeks of this award's existence :P

Anyways, since I like to mention myself, since if I couldn't I fear I may not have a winner of this contest every week, haha, I, Lucifer Morningstar added the only Vertigo review this week, for the first issue of Accelerate. Hopefully we'll be seeing more Vertigo comic reviews in the future as well as submissions! If you love Vertigo you should show it to all the people who come checking out this site by throwing in your contributions...just saying.

Anyways, that's all for this week.

Added by VNU on March 14, 2009

Honestly I was hoping for more of a slew of contestants in the running for this week's official Vertigo Nut, but its still a new idea, so I can't expect things to get off to a booming start right away unfortunately.

Anyways the winner for this week is the VNU's very own Spider Jerusalem! HOORAY!

The reason of course being he came up with the best Vertigo contribution of the week with the Enigma page which is still under construction, as well as some minor work on The Exterminators series. Keep up the good work

Honorary Mentions

Although he is yet to be a member, The Man of Yesteryear continued his awesome job on the Tefé Holland page.

Sorry I forgot to mention it before but Robert Gadling has also made a nice contribution this week with his work on the Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere series and associated pages.

Also, Lucifer Morningstar gets a mention not just because he's the one typing this blog but because he continued his work on the Lucifer page after which he was named, as well as adding this week's new Vertigo comics and well just being an all-round swell guy :P

But really, hopefully there will be more options for next week or if you felt you weren't mentioned when you should have been, let me know, I can't keep track of everything.

However, I am (from what I've read) a Constantine fan already, I mean he truly is a brilliant character and this one-shot gives a nice look at him while at the same time, provides for an interesting read. Yes, it is in black and white, but it's black and white for a reason. This comic is part of the "Vertigo Crime" line and therefore the black and white adds to the noir feel.

Now when I started reading the comic (and maybe stop reading now if you're afraid of spoilers) I was initially disappointed because I figured it was exactly what John did. A regular game show that takes place in a haunted house, so it was fun to only figure things out as the characters did, and see that it was so much more then that. The whole element of enemies past, that all the individuals in the house were somehow connected, and that even demons watch television.

Great comic. Definitely recommend, even if you don't read Hellblazer, it has given me high hopes for this Vertigo Crime stuff (though as far as I can tell there will only be five one-shots, which reminds me, I need to read Filthy Rich).

The fine art of creating an amazing cliffhanger that leaves the reader lusting for more is an essential in comic book writing, and House of Mystery is no stranger to perfecting said art. After last month's "Final Page Dramatic Reveal of the Decade" you know this series is truly headed for great things. I mean to be honest, the series has always been amazing right from the first issue onwards but about midway through it has taken a new route and I have to say I am really loving this route. The Conception. I want more!

This brings up one thing I hate about getting caught up with an ongoing series, I have to wait a month to get the next issue! In any case though, this was a fabulous issue, like all it's predecessors a story was told by characters in the series and this "story within a story" was one of my favorites. However, the best parts were the protagonists of House of Mystery and their current situations. Harry Bailey seems to truly becoming one with the House, don't know how I feel about that but it is an interesting development, reminds me of that one crew member on The Flying Dutchman in Pirates of the Caribbean, the guy who is a part of the ship. However the three main things that have me really excited for the next issue are as follows (you know if there's three it's an action-packed issue).

Administrator Ceorel (villain depicted on cover) has finally proven just how badass he is and I can't wait to see his team-up with a personal favorite character of mine who was dramatically revealed last issue. The Poet was called by name by some mysterious "being" and I'm hoping this means we'll finally get more insight into his character like we have with all the other main protagonists.

And finally the last page of the issue...the murder of probably the most friendly character in the story...but an unrevealed murderer...gah, this series is absolutely awesome...I want #17!!!

Everyone should read this, it's one of my favorite comics currently on the shelves. Great storytelling.

Yes, Peter Milligan has begun the construction of a masterpiece, now I realize it is still in it's very early stages and at this point you can't truly review the series as a whole (assuming it's an ongoing - which is what I'm hoping) but you can still review what you have read and do your best to let others know what it's all about. So, if you haven't read the premiere issue of the series, I implore you to give it a try immediately. Besides the beautiful art and cover, it's an example of one person's very intriguing take on some Greek myths in a modern day setting. I for one have always loved Greek mythology, so I know a decent amount of myths and can always appreciate another take on them (since most of them have multiple versions already).

Now, with a first issue as fantastic as the one heralding this series, it's a given that the second issue will be a disappointment of sorts, but to be honest I usually expect a second issue to be worse then the first, if it wasn't then the first issue probably wasn't the great hook it should have been. So for that reason even though this issue was not as great as I had hoped I will still continue to read on. Had my expectations not been so high I'm sure I would have much more love for this second issue.

As for the content itself, I felt it had slowed down a bit too much, it ended some cliffhangers a bit too early for my liking and supplied us with less intriguing ones. The thing with Eddie in this issue was a disappointment, it's as if the first issue's story may as well have not happened. And the Fureys didn't seem as "wicked" as I was expecting or the undead thing as "horrific". But all that aside, I am still in this for the long haul and expect the series to get better, for now I'll just think of this issue as a breather, since some people found the first issue to be distasteful (read a Greek myth and then see how much cleaner this is) I am afraid many people don't plan on following the series which is a pity, it really is an interesting read.

Ah yes, I have decided it was finally time to review/recommend (at least in part) the masterpiece that is Warren Ellis' Transmetropolitan. Of all the titles Vertigo has ever produced, this is definetely one of the finest and although it was completed years ago and collected in ten trades, Vertigo has decided to resurrect this reading material of the gods with new editions of the ten trades and this month (August '09) they released the remake of the third trade (the first two already released).

Now I won't say this comic is for everyone because it's not, most people who read comics aren't necessarily in it for the story and if that's the case, don't bother picking this up. But for the rest of us, who can enjoy a "thought-provoking" well-written -but offensive to some- comic then you definitely need to add Transmetropolitan to your collection. So for those of you who haven't already bought the sixty issue series or the ten original trades, let this new edition be your excuse for finally delving into the brilliant city of Warren Ellis and becoming acquainted with the reporter/bastard that is Spider Jerusalem as he opens the world's eyes to the world surrounding them.

Now for those of you who wanted spoilers I'm sorry I don't have many but this is a series many people have already read so finding them won't be hard though I will mention that Spider finally gets laid (and unlike he expected, his pent-up poison does not kill the woman...yet anyways), we meet the Presidential candidate to run against the Beast (whose bowels were evacuated in the first trade), drug abuse to the max, and an old friend of Spider's returns.

P.S. Kids at home, don't try to mimic Spider, when he does something it's godly, when someone else does the same thing it's disgusting. He's not a role model, and if you really loved him you'd hate him.

Okay, now before I go into a review of the comics, I would like to mention there are very few comic book creators that I know by name because of their works. I mean sure there are the ones everybody has heard of like Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Alan Moore and then there are those I know simply from editing as many comics on this site as I have like Todd Klein, Shelly Bond, Jared K. Fletcher, Daniel Vozzo, you know, the people who take part in making every issue of the series but rarely get mentioned for it. Anyways, my point is that amongst all these people who created the many comics I love, one of the very few whose name stands out to me because their work is so amazing in my eyes, is Mike Carey. That's right! Your eyes are not deceiving you, I think Mike Carey is one of the greatest writers of all time, and what work led me to this adoration you ask? Lucifer! That's right, seventy-five issues of literary greatness!

Anyways, on my actual review of this specific issue, all bias aside (my love of Mike Carey is what got me to read the issue, though its not the reason I loved it) it was a great first issue. The concept for one thing is really good, I'm sure there are similar stories out there, but whether or not they are better, this one is awesome, and this isn't a popularity contest between all the stories like it, but a review of just it on its own.

Other than that, it had some great characters, I mean I haven't taken to liking the protagonist yet but I hate the protagonist in many of my favorite works, so there's no disappointment there. But some of those supporting characters, now those are fun. But anyways, this is one of those first issue type deals (which is why its sold for so cheap), there isn't really much development in the story so much as a beautifully-done intro to what its all about, but it has done its job in my case as I will definitely be keeping up with this series.

Anyways, I recommend this issue to everyone!! That means, pick it up, give it a read-through and make a decision for yourself but I hope you love it too!

Well, you know, I've been reading Fables for quite some time, read the first sixty-nine issues thus far and I plan to read many more...but I never really got into Jack of Fables, just didn't seem like my thing. Sure, some of the issues he was featured in during his Fables run were okay but nothing spectacular in my mind. Well, I figured, since this is a popular series all its own, I should try it out myself and see if I like it too. Well...needless to say, after reading the first issue, it was simply, okay.

It's not like it was bad or anything, but I've never really seen myself as a Jack fan, and this story fits him perfectly, so its directed at Jack fans. I honestly found no great joy in reading it, but admittedly it wasn't half bad. However, if you want to know if it's for you, try some Fables and if you find yourself preferring Jack over the regular cast, switch over to this. Or do the opposite. Either way, as it stands now, I have to say the two series aren't too alike, so don't assume if you like one you'll like the other.

Otherwise, go on right ahead and give the comic a try...though the last page will only be a surprise (or not a surprise) if you read the "Storybook Love" story arc in the Fables series! And the intro only fully understood if you read the "Jack Be Nimble" story arc, also of the Fables series, so once again I recommend you try Fables before moving on to Jack of Fables, but it's all up to your discretion in the end.

Okay, I'm sorry if people think I'm being prejudiced against transsexuals but it is rather gross when you think of it, at least in this instance, I'm completely agreed with Vinnie.

So yeah, back to not spoiling everything for you, remember last week where I couldn't decide who to suggest this comic too...well now I've come to a conclusion, it's a gangster-type comic filled with a collection of freaks that might find themselves taking part in the underworld. Anyways, this issue takes us out of the whole "tango dancer" routine, sure there's a little of that thrown in, but there's also more story...some backstory with Vinnie's previous life, which leads to some interesting revelations about his relationship with Autumn.

Also, I have to again say (or for the first time?) that this is one of those comic's with beautiful art, disproving the all Vertigo comics have crappy art myth. But, back to the story-line, I'd have to say this comic has a smaller target audience than most, there's nothing really jaw-dropping or eye-catching besides the sexy ladies who may not even be ladies? Sorry, back to spoiling things. Anyways, like I said last time, if you just want to get a random mini try this out, you might like it...but I myself wouldn't really be recommending it to the masses.

Okay, now, for those of you who don't know your mythologies and religious tales, and all those great works of fiction, well, this might not be so enjoyable for you. But for people like myself, who happen to love reading over these classic tales this comic is a treat. Now maybe its just the story that was chosen, or maybe it's the extent to which it was twisted, but when I read this issue for the first time it blew my mind! Without a doubt, this comic is one of the finest single issues I have ever come across, and I've read a lot of those great comics, so don't doubt my experience in the realm of great comic book works.

Also, I thought I might mention, this isn't so much the type of tale-twist that you might get in the Fables series, its not taking a literary character and thrusting them into a new situation. It's taking an event (in this case, the creation story) and swapping the "god role" from one being to another, and this other having completely different views and ideals, and therefore it twists the entire story itself, while still holding fast to some of the key elements.

I honestly don't know how to explain the brilliance of this issue without also spoiling the unexpected parts that make it so fantastic, so instead all I'll do is tell you, if you want to experience the brilliance of both Mike Carey and his Lucifer...please, read this issue. The only way you could be disappointed is if you were hoping for a stupid comic with no plot, and no hooks to pull you in.

Wow. Okay, I don't know what to say really, I mean, I've been reading this fourth (and currently last) volume of Swamp Thing for some weeks now, and now that I've finally reached the conclusion I don't know what to think about it. Originally, the first story arc had me thinking Swamp Thing was the coolest character in the world and that his stories would be amazing forever -which is why I plan to read the previous volumes, or at least some of them- but as things went on there were some one-shots and other little stories that didn't really grab me.

Then, about eight or so issues ago, the story that finally concluded in this issue began and for the most part I don't think I really enjoyed it, but you know what I always say. You can't fully appreciate a comic until you've reached its conclusion, so here we are, the conclusion, the cliffhanger conclusion that may never be resolved. Yeah, that's right, I'm a little irked, maybe this is how Swamp Thing comics always end...but it feels very...unfinished. Yes, the actual storyline was concluded, but a new one was just beginning...and than the next thing you know you turn the page and it reads "FIN"!!!

Anyways, now that that little rant is over, the comic had some great qualities, both as a whole and as an individual issue...one of them would have to Sissy Bob. You know I always felt sorry for that butt-ugly poor excuse for a monster, so in short, I was extremely glad with how he took his final stand in this issue, great stuff! Now on the Swamp Thing side of things...he hasn't changed, he never really does...but that's what you can enjoy about him I guess, I don't know, he just has a feel to him that makes me want to read more, too bad there may never be anymore.

But, after reading all this you ask me, should I pick it up or not? I say...don't do what I did, read another Swamp Thing series before this one, maybe try Alan Moore's run on the second volume, that'd be a good place to start, yes I enjoyed this series myself, but the classic Swamp Thing, the one that's so amazing. If you want to taste him, put this back on the shelf and save it for later. It's good stuff, really good stuff at times, but just not that peak of amazingness that the world of Swamp Thing has to offer.

Okay so, when Northlanders began I was EXTREMELY disappointed, and well after issue one it only seemed to go downhill from there, that was until about mid-way through it all when I actually started to enjoy it. So anyways, I was rather upset about the ending of the first story arc, thought it felt a little premature, but now that I've come to issue nine my spirits have once again risen. You see, the way this comic works is it tells a story, but when that story ends, rather than start a new series, its starts a new story arc, one completely unrelated to the one before it.

So in other words, it's like I finished an okay comic, and have now just picked up a great one in its stead. I'll admit it, this one story arc alone isn't enough to pick up the entire series, since its only two issues long, but nevertheless I have to say I am really liking it. The whole feel of it, Edwin's character, the story, the innocence, wow, its just...I don't know why I like it so much...I guess, I think what I like most about this whole thing, the Northlanders comics that is, is it shows the world as it was...I always thought movies painted the medieval times as a beautiful place...nice to see those times as the dump it really was.

Anyways, I guess if you like that historical stuff, that time period, maybe just history in general, but like to fictionalize it, like I do, I recommend this series. Once again, I don't think its the greatest series out there, but as I have come to see, its definitely an interesting read.
