In the light of everything that's happened to Peter during and after the civil war, his life is coming to all time boiling point. With Aunt May on the death bed and Captain America gone, Peter feels as though his world is falling apart... and maybe it is.

(spoilers abound)

The whole graveyard scene was very brilliantly drawn and portrayed. You could feel Spider-man's sadness come through the pages. As for having the Rhino show up "visiting his mother" was a little odd, but it was nice to see an old Spidey villain make an appearance.

As for Wolverine lecturing Peter on depression, I thought it was well placed. Logan's been through a lot in his life and believe it or not, there is a place inside of him that does care about other people... Peter obviously being one of them right now.

All in all an excellent comic with lots of emotion mixed in.

Green giant gone ape crazy... again

(Spoilers Abound)

So after smashing the blot out of Black Bolt's head and putting a well deserved fist into Iron Man's face, we are treated to yet another segment of the Hulk kicking tail and taking names. This time, the writers have upped the anti for vengeance as the Hulk takes on just about every Super Human known to man. Face smashing, buildings crashes, and pure rage all ensue.

Some of the highlights of the comic are when the Hulk takes his cousin, She-Hulk, and slams her straight through the concrete after she tries to talk reasonably to him. The way that is is drawn makes you take a breath and say "holy crap, the Hulk has no remorse whatsoever."

Another highlight of this comic is when the Hulk decides to take on the Fantastic Four. I won't go into much detail, but let's just say when Thing takes on Hulk, it's a very memorable scene.

As for the writing, it's up to par as usual. No complaints there.

All in all, this is turning out to be one of the best comics in a while. after the Civil War, it's nice to see some people getting slapped silly and taking a huge dent in their pride. HULK SMASH. Period.

Finally, the funeral of Captain America has been released. It's everything I was hoping it would be: Great artwork, visuals, and writing. It acknowledges how great of a hero Cap truly was and how everybody was affected by him one way or another.

It's very sad to see a comic icon fall into the shadows (for now at least) and I'm glad the Jeph Loeb took the time to sit down and realize he was writing a very pivotal milestone in Marvel comics... and do it in a way that surpassed my expectations. Even though the ending could of been drawn a tad bit better, it doesn't take away from the comic as a whole. Very good read indeed.

Good beginning to a great story.

I've always wanted to get into reading Green Arrow comics, but never took the time to do it. Then this series came out and I thought it'd be the perfect time to start... at the beginning.

The artwork is top notch and comes off more realistic than most. Color is vivid and dark- creates a very nostalgic feeling. The writing is also up to par with the whole realism trend. (You get the feeling you're reading a comic someone put a lot of thought into)

One problem I had was with the ending of this first chapter. It feels as though it was rushed and could of been held off until the 2nd chapter. I guess we'll have to wait and see how they thicken the plot.

Don't get Hulk angry.

On the eve of World War Hulk #2 coming out, I took another look at #1 and relived the greatness that is the green giant. We always knew the Hulk was a powerful being, but not up there with the greatest of greats! I guess when this is all said and done, we'll now be able to confirm that Hulk is indeed one of the strongest beings in the comic universe.

As for the story telling, The Outsider said it best: Straight out of the gate, we get action and then some. To see the Hulk smash Black Bolt and then take a fist to Iron Man's face (as if he hasn't deserved it) is something of epic proportions. I'm not exactly sure what's going to come around in the next few issues, but if this is only the beginning... holy crap. Prepare to get kicked in the nuts by the green muscle machine.

As I wait and wait and wait and wait and wait for #542 to grace us with it's presence, I'm left wondering just how far Spidey will go. In this issue we get to see Peter Parker in turmoil like never before. Aunt May is hanging on with whatever she can and Parker is on a course headed straight for self-destruction. With the Kingpin twisting the knife in Spider-Man's back, you can't help but wonder how far the writers are going to take this.

At the end of the civil war, I knew there would have to be a major shake up in the Spider-Man story line (other than him revealing himself to the public). It's very exciting and sad at the same time, because I think we all know what's coming next... Aunt May's death. How long can Marvel keep the same story line going? With all the other changes to the comic universe, why should Spidey get a pass? I'm a little worried they're going to have Spidey kill someone out of pure rage and have it haunt him just like everything else in his life. Maybe I'm just grasping at ideas, but maybe there's more of a struggle inside Parker than we all think.

All in all this is a great set up comic... Gets you ready for the next few issues... if they'd every come out.

I think it's safe to say we all knew Ghost Rider wasn't going to be the one to take down the Hulk. The Rider's series only last for two comics inside th WWH saga, but it still was fun and interesting to see what

would unfold.

I was a little surprised at the destruction that took place in the tussle between these two. Let's add this up shall we?

1 sky-scraper completely destroyed - check

1 subway car pulled through from the underground - check

1 gigantic hole in the ground from Hulk smash - check

HALF a city block blown up by Ghost Rider - check

1 tank cut in two by Rider's motorcycle - check

What does all this add up to?

One enormous swift kick to the reader's balls.

Any questions?

One of the best story lines around.

I can't say enough about the writer of this comic. With each Captain America entry, it keeps getting better and better. Without Captain America around, one has to wonder just how long this current title can keep going. The aftermath of Cap's death has unleashed a series of events that could be in the making of a Marvel classic campaign. I just hope they follow through with the story lines and don't let them sputter into cliche territory.

The artwork is very realistic and it helps pull things together. Dealing with the death of someone is very tragic and with the help of the artwork, it seals the emotion they are trying to convey. You can't help but notice the darkened colors, almost if they've been washed out a little bit.

Here's hoping that this Captain America title will continue to hold interest and garner more readers.

I really enjoyed the Front Line series during the Civil War and the World War Hulk saga is no different. It's nice to see the action through the eyes of civilians and what it might be like for the common man. All the Front Line comics have emphasized intricate story lines that never seem to get old. I was a little worried about WWH: Front Line #1 as it seemed to have introduced too many story lines, but #2 seems to thin these out and help understand a little more of what's going on.

The thing I like most about the Front Line comics is how well placed everyone is according to the events that are taking place. Everything seems to fall nicely into the event time line and it shows that the writers took some time to think about character/plot placement.

I also really liked how they gave Danny Granville a bigger role than just being Sally's lover. It was nice to see the last quarter of the comic deal with the Costume Division and helping Korg find the murderer of Arch-E-5912.

Bottom line is that these Front Line comics offer something more than your typical superhero stories. They give a more "human" feel to the comics and portray what it's like to be in the midst of super warfare as a civilian. Don't hesitate to pick these up.

I was expecting a major scuffle between these two (Kingpin and Spidey) with Spider-Man coming out victorious like always, but what we got instead was an good old fashioned beat down from web-head. 80% of this comic is Spider-Man kicking the loving crap out of Fisk and it couldn't be sweeter. The rage, anger, and vengeance that Peter feels is on full display thanks to the writing of Michael Straczynski.

When Peter takes off his costume to beat down Fisk, I honestly thought he might kill him. The payoff is so much sweeter though. Peter Embarrasses Fisk in front of the entire prison and tells him that when Aunt May dies, he will come kill Fisk. But until then, Fisk will have to endure the humiliation of being beaten with hundreds of witnesses. We're left at the end with Fisk stumbling back to his jail bed to rest himself after being severely ruffed, completely bruised up and bleeding from the head.

This was classic comic book story telling. Revenge is sweet.
