Did they make comics for Jericho's season 1 and 2? Or is the first ever comic Season 3 issue 1? I believe it is slated to come out this week, and can't seem to find anything on earlier comic issues anywhere online.  I'm just a little confused with this one...

I personally don't like them. Cause I don't read the comics I get for their value. I used to collect other things just for value. But it just isn't worth it to me anymore. Just wasn't fun.  Comics I do for the fun of it. So variants just get in the way.   And with this economy there is no way I can justify buying the same comic more then once to my ...

@Cezar_TheScribe: I agree. To be honest, I'd stop being a fan of comics if they all went digital. It's just not that huge a deal for me. And since I don't have an ipod or other device to play/read them on, it's a moot point for me.

Up for review here is Blackbeard: Legend of the Pyrate King #2.

Follow along as Teach kills off the Captain of the ship. He just couldn't take how mean this dude was any longer. The crew finds him standing over the captain's body and won't stand for it. They have to report him to the militia. Teach isn't going to stand around and wait, so he jumps off the ship and swims to land. As he hides, the militia searches for him. He runs to a tavern, which is also a house of ill repute. He gets a drink, a room, and a woman. But at first seems more interested in watching out the window for his hunters, then the women he hired. Well it doesn't take long for her to catch his attention...

Meanwhile the militia runs into another captain and his crew, Captain Benjamin Hornigold. The militia enters the tavern looking for Teach and the bartender gives him up right away, "Sounds like Betsy's customer, we run an honset brothel. We want no trouble, top of the stairs third door on the right."  The militia breaks down the door and grabs Teach. For a minute he acts as if he is knocked out, until he springs to life and starts fighting them off. A battle ensues as Captain Hornigold takes notice to Teach and thinks he will be good for his ship. So the captain and his men help fight off the militia and take Teach to their boat, in a hurry. But, Teach is kinda pissed, he didn't want to be taken on his first boat and doesn't want to go on this one with Hornigold. Well, he's "Invited" to join and is stuck on there anyhow.

End of this issue. So as my title said, Back to where we started. He started out on a boat with a captain he didn't like. And after this issue, he's on a boat again. Not sure how this captain will treat him but it's not exactly an idea situation as of yet for Mr. Teach.  This whole issue just seemed like a filler book to me. And it was issue # 2! So I rate this an average 3 out of 5. And I hope next issue brings more to the table.

Up for a quick review here is Marvel's Super Hero Squad #2.

Read this to my son last night. It was a pretty good story over all. The story of Reptil and how he got his powers. Humberto Lopez touted as a smart kid with good grades but is extremely bored at home. He's doing a project for school, put together a time capsule and bury it outside of his house. Which when you think of it, why would the school have you do that? No way of checking on it. Anyway, as he is digging he finds a powerful sunstone that looks like one of these fractals that were in the past issue. As soon as he touches the sunstone he gets his powers. Dinosaur like powers. Now that he has these new found abilities what does he do next? Makes a costume and goes out to try his strength against super villains.

He tries his luck against Abomination, and a few other unnamed bad dudes, but fails miserable. Dr Doom hears about this new kid with powers and thinks he has a piece of this fractal. So, he sends out the Blob to find out. Captain America comes in and saves Reptil without him knowing. And they head to Stark Labratories to analyze the sunstone and get Reptil a new outfit. He ends up really excited to be there, but poor Wolverine has to mentor him!

There was about 10 pages of little strips and skits after that story was over. kinda neat but not that impressive. And at the end there was a preview of the Oz book.

This book gets a 3.5 rating. Still not as cool and entertaining as the stuff Boom is putting out for kids. But pretty good otherwise.

Follow along as the Steward goes to September 2008. Dr. Kate Prosper is about to stumble upon the secret to how the Steward folds time. First off, They decide to make the good doctor a typical blonde babe. I'm sorry, but I just don't buy it. I know you don't really want to make her ugly for a comic book chick. But give me a break and deviate from the norm a little.

Anyway she's trying to recoup some data from a giant project, one that that are doing in real life by the way. Something about being able to recreate how life formed in a giant computer machine dealy. She calls her estranged husband up, who is another person too good looking to believe, and he begrudgingly helps her look over data.

Well, they find these sutures in time. Areas where they seem to have been messed with. Which is where the Steward stepped in to help out.

A side story in the book, A man is looking after his sickly son. His wife already passed away from cancer and now his child has leukemia and is dying. The man feels helpless as they just won't pay for any more treatments for his son. He over hears on the news about a giant machine that has broken down, and costing the taxpayers billions to run. So, getting pissed about his son and having no money, he decides to take it out on the company and their machine. Which just happens to be where the doctor is working on her theory.

The doctor gets back to work trying to piece together her research just as the Steward shows up, and the father as well. The father decides to sledge hammer some pipes and the whole place is going to explode. The Steward though intervenes, and saves the day. While the Steward very briefly convinces the doctor to give up her work and worry about her husband.

End of the book has the doctor calling her hubby up. Whoopie. Just a very typical story. Nothing to write home about. This issue gets a 3 out of five to me. It really didn't appeal to me story wise. There are only two more issues left, hopefully it will get better.

I love this stuff! This issue starts out with Vanessa's boyfriend, Dennis coming back into the house. (Last issue had him going out to his car where he seemingly met up with the killer rabbit monster) Vanessa pulls a gun on Dennis. She saw him outside talking to the monster. He tries to convince her it isn't what she thinks, but she doesn't have any of it. She duct tapes him down to the coffee table and heads to his work, Tronco.
While that is going on, the Basher brothers come to the same conclusion. There is something going on at Tronco, the cereal company. They head to Dennis' house to find it empty. Save for a note from Vanessa telling the bros where she went.
As the brothers head to the company, they see another flying monster, only to be taken out by an army helicopter. Too bad for the helicopter though, as some of these monsters are much larger then they can handle...
They decide to sneak into the building by entering an old drain pipe. One they used to use as kids to get into the old fairgrounds. But, guess what? There is a surprise in the pipe waiting for them. A battle ensues and Jake comes out of the pipe with a new arm! Let's just say, it helps him see a little clearer...
It seems as though the boys and Vanessa have stumbled upon something bigger then they imagined. At the end of the issue we see a huge amount of monsters, not yet released. And Dennis is their ring leader...

This issue gets a 4 out of 5. I can't say enough good about it. Only one more issue left, how will things turn out?

So last issue brought us the two Green Arrows. And that had me (a newbie to Green Arrow) scratching my head with a WTF moment. This issue picks up with GA on an island, with a younger GA. He's passed out having a dream. After he chats with himself about getting his mind right he wakes up and we are basically brought back to where the last issue left off. The attack scene featuring the two GAs. The battle ensues, including Speedy and Black Canary. We come to find that the second GA really believes he is GA as well. Until Black Canary tracks him down and notices an arrow scar on his neck. He appears to be Everyman. At the end of this issue you see a couple of bad dudes plotting out their next scheme, while holding a file folder with GAs info in it...

I'm not sure who the bad dudes were and what they are planning. But i'm hoping it's something good! The big problem I have with the comic is this: They have too many people involved with it. There is 2-3 different sets of people putting in mini stories to make up the whole book. Do they always do this with Green Arrow? It's a little off putting to see such different artwork and styles all in one issue. I'm not sure why they don't just have one team putting out the whole comic...So it's gets a 3.5 out of 5 rating from me. Would be a 4 out of 5 if it were done by one team.

Ok I have to admit I loved Sweet Tooth #1. Sweet Tooth #2 was a little slow for me but it was still good. And this, #3 was pretty cool with a couple of weak points.

So this issue picks up with Gus pulling a horse, who is carrying Mr. Jepperd. Mr. Jepperd is hurting from the attack in issue 2 and so Gus decides to call it a night, and camp out inside an old farm house. He leaves Mr. Jepperd and the horse there and goes to a nearby house to look for food and bandages. While in the house he ends up finding some food, and some more candy. Then Gus decides to go upstairs and notices a bedroom. There is a boy lying in bed, well, his skeleton. But what is the boy clutching? Dandy, the story of a young deer. Har Har Pun alert, Dandy = Bambi.

Gus goes back to the farm area, bandages up Jepperd, and eats a few too many candy bars. Only then to have a nightmare about what? Dandy and a rabbit. Telling Gus to run away from Jepperd because he is an evil man. Well Gus wakes up from his nightmare to find Jepperd awake as well. This is where Jepperd gets a little mean and nasty with Gus. Something that doesn't exactly fit with the story, at least not with me, and not yet.

Well, they hit the road on horseback once again. Into another deserted town. They get to the path they were going to take but it is filled with dead bodies. Well they both decide not to go that way when they hear a noise. They are not alone. Jepperd looks around and Gus sees someone in one of the building windows. They bust into the old motel and meet up with a rabbit girl named Becky. To be continued...

I liked this story for the most part, though the whole Dandy/Bambi story was lame especially considering Gus is a deer creature and all...So, I give it a 4 out of 5. In hopes that this story is really building to something awesome...

Groo: The Hogs of Horder #1.

I saw this on Comixology, and picked it up the other day. It looked like a fun comic. Reminded me of the sunday comics all jammed into one book.

So, tonight I decided to read it as I didn't want to read anything heavy. Wanted a nice light, funny story. And that is what I got. Groo goes from town to town, searching out job after job just to make some "Kopins" or money. And then, seemingly, just for some food for himself and his trusty sidekick Rufferto the dog.

Groo is well known for destroying anything in his path. Not just armies or enemies, but towns and businesses themselves. So he's kind of a dummy, yet interesting to follow along with.

The problem I have with this comic is it seems to be taken directly from the headlines. All throughout it there are business people losing everything and hoping to go to the bankers to get a loan. Now how can they repay the loan? By raising prices on their customers. Also, they talk about in other towns you can get the same goods for a fraction of the price. So, they outsource to other areas.

It is just too similar to the whole bank bailout/government issue. And how America is seemingly outsourced to other countries to save money. I don't know. I don't think it is a coincidence.

I give this a 3.5 out of 5. If it had alot less of a political feel to it, I would have given it a 5 out of 5. What did you think about this? Was it to political, or just a timely coincidence? Maybe other Groo comics have been like this in the past, I don't know...

Quick take on this one:
So, I finally got around to finishing this comic. And it sucked pretty hard. I thought it was going to be awesome because I liked last years Halloween special so much...But I was wrong. There was only 2 maybe 3 stories that I enjoyed in the whole thing. And Alot of the art was suckish.

If you see it in the next coming weeks or months for 50% off or something like that, then pick it up. Otherwise i'd skip this one. 2 out of 5.

Quick review here gang:

Mickey Mouse and Friends issue #296. This is the best kids comic i've read so far. Nothing against Toy Story, Cars, or Super Hero Squad. But when I read this to my son, it was actually entertaining to me as well.

The story is: Mickey is an apprentice to a village sorcerer, Master Nereus.  And the village is owner to a magic crystal, a "Diamagic" as they call it. Well, the Master is needed at the great library and that leaves Mickey in charge of the crystal. Pete, a traveling sorcerer wanders into town and tricks Mickey into giving him the crystal. So off Mickey goes on an adventure to find this crystal. He ends up in the ancient capitol of their kingdom, the Grand Haven. There happens to be a sorcerers tournament about to happen, but Mickey can't join by himself. He finally meets two willing team members (Goofy and Donald) They sign up for the tourney, and the story is to be continued in the next issue.

Like I said, this is the best kids comic i've read so far, it has alot of bang for the buck. My son especially loved the tornado scenes! 5 out of 5 stars.

Up for review we have Beautiful Creatures #2 of 2.

So the story picks up pretty much where we left off in issue #1. There are 4 college aged friends who are somehow linked to each other and linked to the past. Long ago past.
Flashback to about 1000 years ago. One of the girls is a Banshee, and is about to be killed by this "Fat" man. Their arch enemy who seems to get the best of the girls every 1000 years. He gains his power by killing other creatures. And each time the girls try and fail at killing him. All throughout the book the girls have flashbacks as to what they have done in the past. Jogging their memory enough to try and piece together what they have to do this time to kill this evil man and end it once and for all.
They decide to head back to their place, where they were originally attacked by these red cap creatures. If they can get information out of them maybe they can trace down their enemy. Well, their first attempt at interrogation fails, but they do gain a lead with the second attempt. They discover the whereabouts to another fiendish creature named Robin. The guy in charge of the red caps. A battle ensues, and he does a pretty good job of fighting them off, until he gets blasted out of his house and dies, that is. But, with the help of a new found power from the Banshee, they are able to get all the info they need out of the ghost of Robin.
Off to England they go to track down this evil man. There are talks about how they are going to fight this guy, so they all don't die this time. Right off the bat he has an edge over the group. A huge battle ensues, and how will they take this guy out? I'll leave that for you to discover. At the end of the book they do leave this wide open for more. I rate this issue a 4.5 out of 5. I just wish there was more meat for me to chew on! I'm hoping they continue this story as it is pretty awesome...
