Kain Immanuel Washington was born in New York City in a typical family (father, mother, and younger sister). He was the average young adult, whom did well in school, had friends, and loved his family. Yet, he always wished for more; feeling that his life was destined for bigger and greater things than he had come to expect from his life. That feeling would prove to be a precognition of things to come.

In his late teens, Kain began to develop abnormal abilities; discovering that he could run at speeds comparable to the fastest vehicles, lift objects in excess of 75 tons, see through solid, opaque objects, and fire lasers from his eyes of varying intensity and heat. He could see farther, hear sharper, smell, touch, taste changes in atmosphere and his surroundings. At first, Kain was utterly amazed by these newfound abilities and slowly began to develop his control over them and use them to advance himself in school sports and social circles; being careful to never let anyone know where his sudden excellence came from. However, as time passed, Kain soon began to realize that his abilities made him far different from others and that a life devoted to using his abilities to give him advantage over others was a life filled with dishonesty. To this end, Kain decided to ignore his budding powers and settle back into the role of the average young adult.

It wasn't until a series of events struck New York City; including escalating crime, street violence, and terrorist attacks (all of which culminating in the deaths of many people), that Kain realized that he finally knew what his calling was. He would use the power that he'd been given to help make a positive change for his hometown and, over time, the rest of the world. Kain would put together a suit made of pressurized materials (to handle the vigors of his powers and his vigilante activity) that were flame-resistant (Nomex) and bulletproof (Kevlar), and set out to serve the world as THE AVENGING ANGEL!!
