Origin/Overview

Sun-Man, or God Addae is the mystical protector of "Kakolookiyam," the world between worlds. Addae is the son of the God Jabari and the Crystal Goddess. He has gone by many names: The Warrior of the Sun, The Prince of Light. Currently he is simply addressed as Sun-Man, by earthlings.

His father the great God Jabari, is a being of immense power, who rules over many realms, and can influence the very universe itself. Sun-Man's mother is an eternal who rules over a dimension of Ice and crystal, a world of barren beauty, composed of mountains of the richest ores and minerals. The goddess of Crystal holds power over all that is earth. Addae's parents are likened to Father Sky and Mother Earth, just on a cosmic level.

A milenium ago, it was the union of Jabari and Crystal that gave birth to Kakolookiyam, a world like no other. Kakolookiyam is a small planet which exists in a pocket dimension, accessible by portals from different realms. These portals are controlled by a large magical diamond located on the planet. The world was drenched in magic, lush in plant life and filled with scenic landscapes. The animals that dwell on the planet surface are as diverse and exotic as the planet itself. It was not long after the creation of the Kakolookiyam that creatures from many different dimensions managed to slip into the world. As time passed these travelers, pilgrims and adventurers ended up bringing countless treasures and mystical items that accumulated throughout the planet overtime. A large city, named Beranthera was eventuallyconstructed on the planet. At one point this was the center of trade for multiple universes and dimensions.

Now neither Jabari nor Crystal ruled over Kakolookiyam. Both these gods held power and influence over it, but for their own individual reasons they did not actively govern it. Jabari was a free spirit, he did what he wanted and would not be restrained to one dimension. Moreover, he made it a rule for himself to never directly interfere in the lives of lesser beings and mortals. Crystal on the other hand, was preoccupied with ruling over her own dimension. Therefore, the job of caretaker of Kakolookiyam fell to the two gods only son, Addae. The Goddess Crystal conceived the God Addae a few centuries after the creation of Kakolookiyam.

Growing up on Kakolookiyam, Addae learned an appreciation for the beauty of life and nature. He enjoyed exploring the planet and playing with the animals that inhabited it. As for the city of Beranthera, he mostly left it alone observing it from the sky. However, his curiosity occasionally got the better of him, and he would venture down towards its streets or rooftops on a few rare occasions. Nevertheless the cities inhabitants were aware of his presence. God Addae abhorred violence and was always a protector to those in need. In addition, Addae did not allow one single group or person to come to power over Beranthera. When he stopped in to visit he made sure that all individuals had their say and matters were dealt with in non-violence. Therefore, although Addae did not normally roam the city his presence was always felt whether he was there or not.

Unfortunately, due to the event on Kakolookiyam involving the Tyrant Galabaxtrix, Sun-Man has taken a much more active role in protecting the world, and most of the portals enabling outsiders to enter the pocket dimension have been sealed up.

Kakolookiyam History

Kakolookiyam was a peaceful world for thousands of years. However, all that changed when the Tyrant Gallabaxtrix came. This tyrant heard news of Kakolookiyam

across the cosmos and sent a number of his scouts to investigate. Once the Tyrant's scouts returned they told him grand stories of the beauty and majesty of Kakolookiyam. Gallabaxtrix became enthralled with the magic and vast treasure of the planet. His greed would not allow him to leave the small planet alone. Soon he had devised a plan to conquer the planet for his own. He began secretly filtering troops onto the world, from across the universe. Gallabaxtrix wanted to claim the paradise of Kakolookiyam for himself, along with the Grand city of Beranthera's many treasures and magics. Unfortunately, it was not until a few months later that the Sun God began understood what was happening. However, Gallabaxtrix's plan was already too far in motion to be stopped by that point. The troops had been slowly filtered onto the planet in very small incriments. They secretly began to take control of the city and covertly silence or intimidate any who would oppose them. The troops continued to subtely move weapons onto the planet and would hide them from Addae's notice. Than when Gallabaxtrix's army had amassed to a large enough size In one fell swoop Gallabaxtrix conquered the city of Beranthera. He enslaved the cities inhabitants, looting its treasures and poaching the jungle animals.

As soon as, the city fell Sun-Man understood exactly what was going on. At first he was shocked, but only for an instant. Than he was overcome by an emotion he had never experience before, rage! Addae went into a fury of rage. The Sun God soared towards the city as fast as he could. Upon reaching the outskirts he was met with a barage of lasers and advanced weaponry the likes of which he had never seen before. However, this skirmish was brief. In his rage he decimated half of Gallabaxtrix's army in a single day, freeing all the captured animals and many of the enslaved citizens. After Addae headed for the city of Beranthera to crush Gallbaxtrix with the last of his troops and drive him off the world. However, the battle did not go anything like Sun-Man expected it too.

Gallabaxrix's troops were experienced in combatting similar opponents to Sun-Man and had advanced alien technology from across the cosmos, which Sun-Man had never encountered before. The army proved to be formidable but they were not enough to stop Sun-Man from reaching Gallabaxtrix. Nevertheless, the tyrant's forces performed according to Gallabaxtrix's strategy. He had studied Sun-Man and learned his strengths and weaknesses. Gallabaxtrix planned for his forces to slow Sun-Man down long enough for the third phase of his plan to take effect. The tyrant had brought with him five large machines which sole purpose was to permanently black out the sky in order to block out the light from the Sun and the stars.. This was a brilliant move because Sun-Man gained his powers from the sun's solar rays, and without them present he would not be at full power. Gallabaxtrix had learned this from months of planning. He would not dare to spring his trap without  neutralizing the Sun God, Kakolooliyam's one man armada. Sadly, Sun-Man was not thinking clearly he flew at Gallabaxtrix in a blind rage, intending to beat the Tyrant within an inch of his life. However, what really happened was quite the opposite.

Until this battle Sun-Man had never known anyone to be his equal, let alone superior in strength aside from his parents. The Sun God fought one of the toughest battles of his life his life. The two powerhouse titans would have been evenly matched, but Gallabaxtrix's advance weaponry along with the assistance of his troops  proved to be too much for Sun-Man to handle. The Sun God was getting hammered from all sides, but he would not go down. The fight raged throughout the night, but with the help of his remaining forces Gallabaxtrix was able to finally put Sun-Man down for the count.

Addae was chained up and imprisoned deep within the vast caverns of Kakolookiyam. He struggled for 2 days and nights to break his bounds, but to no avail. His restraints were forged from an fusion of technology and magic, designed to continually sap him of his solar energy. On the third day, he called out to his parents for aid, yet there was no response. Than on the fourth day something amazing happened. There was a massive earthquake, the first one ever-in Kakolokiam's history. The force of the quake severed Sun-Man's bonds.

He immediately, took to the sky. Sun-Man flew up high above the clouds and Gallabaxtrix's solar barrier to bask in the Suns rays and re-energize his powers. He took a few minutes to rest atop one of Kakolookiyam's many mountaintops. It was atop the highest peak that Addae rested. As he basked in the sunlight something caught his attention from the corner of his eye. Turning his head he saw a sparkling set of armor and weapons. There was a shimmering breast plate, forearm bracers and a large shield and spear. At first Sun-Man did not know what to make of these items, but he was entranced by their design. Soon afterwards  he heard a voice whisper to him on the wind, "a gift." The voice woke the Sun God from his stupor. From that point on there was no doubt in Sun-Man's mind the armor and weapons were his. He quickly dawned them and took off at full speed towards the city. He had taken enough time to replenish his energy now he needed to drive off these invaders, Upon returning to the city everything was in disarray from the earthquake. Sun-Man took advantage of the situation and made quick work of the majority of Gallabaxtrix's troops blasting them with fiery blasts. Afterwards he headed off to face the tyrant himself.

The pair's  second battle shock the very planet to his core, but with Sun-Man at his full power the outcome was very different. The tyrant tried to use the same tactic as last time, but Sun-Man's new armor and weapons seemed to even the odds. Addae's breast plate and shield were able to deflect a considerable amount of laser fire. Than the Sun God's newly acquired Spear sliced and diced into Gallabaxtrix. Sun-Man handily defeated Gallbaxtrix, but the Tyrant was able to flee with the help of his soldiers before Sun-Man could deliver a finishing blow. Sun-Man proceeded to free the remaining prisoners and exiled the Tyrant and all of his men from Kakolookiyam.

The Invaders were able to make of with a few treasures, but overall they lost more than they gained. Fearing other possible dangers that might befall his home world, Sun-Man traveled to the Great Magic Diamond, which controlled the worlds many portals. Addae thought it would be best to close up most of the portals throughout he world only leaving a handful so he could watch over them.  This is how many portals connecting Kakolookiyam to the multiverse came to be closed. Only a few remained open, and overtime many forgot the magical planet even existed. Before the portals closed only a small contingent of beings from Beranthera decided to stay behind and live on the planet. These individuals started a small civilization and rebuilt Beranthera. As of now Sun-Man has taken a much more active role as this world's defender.

Currently

Over the years a few outsiders have found their way into Kakolookiyam. As a result Sun-Man has come into contact with a number of super teams and cosmic beings, befriending many mighty heroes and sorcerers. Now and again Sun-Man ventures out of the pocket dimension and fights along side other heroes against evil.

Unfortunately, Gallabaxtrix never gave up on capturing Kakolookiyam and over the years he has tried to retake the world, as have many of his family and children. Nonetheless, Sun-Man has successfully defended Kakolookiyam against all invaders.

The Treachery of Xehanort ( aka N.O.O.B.S)

SUNMAN along with other heroes were summoned to the strange planet Tamalora. The heroes were confronted by the Wizard Xehanort. He told them his empire was in peril from the Tamalorians, savage aliens who had come to the planet years ago, and pleaded to the heroes for aid. After listening to the wizards plight the heroes decided to help the good Wizard. With the heroes combine might they toppled the Tamalorian empire. However the heroes had been deceived. Xehanort was not the good and peaceful wizard they had come to believe but a Dark space Sorcerer responsible for the fall of countless nations. The Tamalorians were the true indigenous people of the planet and had been desperately fighting against Tamalorian.

Unable to prevail against the Tamalorians Xehanort devised a treacherous scheme, in which by deceiving heroes from across the universe he would enlist their help to conquer the Tamalorians and control the planet. His scheme worked, and after the Tamalorians were conquered Xehanort quickly turned against the Heroes who aided him. He had studied each hero and knew of their weaknesses. Therefore he devised counter measures before hand to subdue each hero.

He enslaved the Tamalorians and the heroes. He made many of his new slaves into servants and a few into gladiators for his amusement, while others he used to leech off their mighty power for his own use. However, this was short lived, as the heroes soon escaped from imprisonment. Rallying the Tamalorians behind them the Heroes defeated Xehanort and drove him from the planet.

After the evil sorcerer was driven off the planets the heroes helped the Tamalorians rebuild. Their civilization became stronger and more organized than before, and the heroes made sure the Tamalorians were prepared in case Xehanort ever returned.

Once SUNMAN made sure the Tamalorians were okay he headed back to his homeword on Kakolookiyam.

So Steve Rogers is coming back.

First off what is up with the 600 thing, they did it with Thor and i think they did it with someone else too? Is that marvels new thing we are just going to randomly figure out how each character has 600 issues. I am not an expert but I thought Captain America would of hit before Thor since you know he had all those issues in the 1950's.

Okay so back on topic. I am really really ticked off on a number of levels. Especially since that interview that was released on marvel.com talking about it. They said they had been planning Captain America's return since his death, yet every other interview has been like "Oh we are not even thinking about Captain America's return. We know he will return at some point but right now we are not even thinking about it." So obviously this was not entirely true, a little annoyed by this but whatever I can get over it.

On top of this Caps death is completely pointless. They did not wait nearly long enough to bring him back for a couple of reasons.  In the interview they say it is time for Cap to come back and see how much has changed since he died and all that. But in marvel time it has only been like six months. Why bring him back? What has changed? We had World War Hulk, but that did not really alter anything that much. The Skrull Invasion didn't really change the marvel world as much as you would think. Janet died and a lot of people are shell shocked and still shaken up over the invasion. Still besides Janet's death and all the Skrulls that died everything else is going to be the same.

Dark Reign will be the only big immediate differences Steve notices and we know that it will be resolved soon. I am assuming Captain America will play a role in that.

In my opinion it is so stupid to bring him back so soon. There was no point to killing him. And than we still have Bucky who is still getting use to being Captain America. He doesn't think he is as good as Steve was, and Bucky is basically still growing into being Captain America. This is exactly what I was worried they were going to do with Batman. DC was going to spend the entire time telling the story of Dick growing into the role of Batman than Batman would come out. Instead marvel does this with Cap. We never got to truly see Bucky as Captain America, he is still growing into the role.

Marvel should of treated Bucky like Wally. Where Wally was the Flash and actually filled Barry's boots. Bucky needed to get to that point and Marvel did not allow him too.  Making Bucky Captain America completely pointless, IMO. And I know people are speculating Steve coming back and not being Captain America again. Honestly who else would he be?! And the title is Captain America reborn not Steve Rogers Reborn. If he is brought back from the dead I see no way he does not take up the mantle of Captain America again.

And than there is the fact that this is a total marketing thing. Now maybe I am wrong (doubtful) but think about it. The comic is called Captain America Reborn. I am sorry but does that not sound ridiculously similar to a DC series that is doing rather well. (Hint hint, Flash Rebirth!!!!!) Marvel must have bee,n" look how well this series is going for DC lets do one of those. Now who is a major character we have killed off recently."

I question how story driven this comic is. It seems more sales driven to me.

Than on top of this marvel went on how the marvel universe is about consequences. And how this death will not be like Superman's where he just comes back 2 years later. I personally felt that DC brought Superman back really fast. IMO Captain America should have stayed dead 5 to 7 years minimum. Its ridiculous that they brought him back. It totally destroys the story of his death. It makes that story completely pointless and meaningless.

I hope for marvel's sake this story is amazing. Right now I cannot fathom how it will be or how Cap will comeback. It just doesn't make sense right now. Maybe I am overreacting to this, but its when this stuff happens that people do not take comic death seriously.

Sure he can return, once in a while or in a special event (some multi verse junk)

But allow characters who have been in the DCU since the beginning to establish themselves. Look at Wally, Dick, Roy, Kyle.

Enough with this Barry and Hal junk.

Ok... I have to say it.
This was the best Wolverine story in a -long- time.
Sure, Old Man Logan is fun, but this story actually dealt with the man behind the mask. It's been a -really- long time since we had one of those.

Kudos to the writer.
Incredible writing. I actually felt sorry for Logan at the end of it.

I might as well be delivering a eulogy for this series. It will continue in a different form, but for all intents and purposes this particular Wolverine book has reached its end. The way this book ends is very fitting for this series. For most of the series each issue read more like a disjointed series of separate stories rather than a continuing saga. This issue is also disjointed, but still very enjoyable. In fact even if you have never read this series you could still pick this issue up and read it as a one-shot in my opinion.

This issue offers the second halves of the two stories presented in Issue #73. In one part, Logan continues on his quest to help out an old friend and prevent a bloody biker war. In the other, Wolverine's insanely busy schedule as a superhero is explored. the two stories have nothing to do with each other. Frankly, the story would read much better if the first story were fully contained in Issue #73 and the second in Issue #74. It hurts the overall comic by having both stories broken in half.

In my opinion the first story, the biker one, is definitely the weaker of the two. Daniel Way's story is something that could just as easily been made into a Punisher story. Though this is hardly the first time this could be said about a Wolverine comic, its rarely a good thing when two characters become so easily interchangeable. At times Ways story recalls the glory days of Greg Rucka's run, but for the most part it lacks the emotional impact. Heck, I had to go back and reread the first half just to remind myself what was going on.

I liked tommy Lee Edward's art. However, I am not sure Edwards was the best choice. The tone he creates isn't one bested suited for the story. I think a more grimy/gritty artist who has worked on Wolverine in the past would have been better suited. Than sometimes Edwards also has difficulty distinguishing his characters from one another. I mean when you have a cast of exclusively blurry hairy men, its even hard for Logan to stand out. I felt this becomes a serious problem at the end of the story, when an apparently major revelation is wasted because a characters identity is obscured.

The part I enjoyed most of this comic and whee the real attraction of this issue lies is in the second segment by Jason Aaron and Adam Kubert. This half of the story is lacking the sheer visual variety of the first, but it's still very expertly laid out an a nice flashback to Wolverine stories of yeas past.

We get a cool scene of Wolverine, Spiderman and Bucky Cap throwing down with the wrecking crew. Than we see a panel of Peter Parker lying on the couch watching the news on X-men Wolverine and Cyclops. The next panel we have photographer Peter Parker at a crime scene where a anti mutant gang was slaughtered. There Peter spies a familiar claw mark on the wall.

Having established why Wolverine has been running himself ragged lately, Aaron attempts to dive deeper into Logan's mindset. To do so he brings and Spiderman. This segment unfortunately comes on the heels of Amazing Spiderman #597 the last issue of Spider-Man: Brand New day extra. I love Just like Joe Kelly did, Aaron depicts Logan and Spidey. I especially loved the thought boxes of Spider-Man entering the bar to talk to Logan. The Firelord ones were hilarious. Just like Joe Kelly did, Aaron depicts Logan and Spidey waxing philosophical inside a bar. Of course, Logan is in a mood and does not want to take advice from Spidey, and just when the inevitable fight between the two is about to break out, three not so lucky robbers burst in. The burglars reactions are priceless. Now the ending may have been a little trite, but the dialogue was funny and snappy,   and Aaron's analysis of his hero rings true. The Wolverine/Spider-Man dynamic  is quickly becoming one of my favorites among Marvel heroes, and that's precisely because of stories like this.

Though these past two issue have been fairly uneven in terms of overall quality, I'd say Wolverine Vol. 3 has been given a proper send-off. For the future I am keeping my fingers crossed for aSpider-Man and Wolverine series. Superman and Batman have one so why not two of Marvel's most popular characters?

Part Superhero story, part civil rights history lesson--Adam: The Legend of the Blue Marvel issue three delves into the life of Golden Age Superhero Adam Brashear . (Ironic if you consider the timing of introducing Marvel's first black mega--superhero..emphasis on the word SUPER, and the election of Barack Obama..our nations first black President..sorry didnt mean to wax poetic.)

Side note--For more information as well as insight into the creation of the series by its author Kevin Grevioux..check out the indepth interview presented on Marvel.com

In the third act of this limited series we learn more the about man, behind the mask. And His wife, formerlly an undercover agent sent to watch Brashear. She explains why she reluctantly took the job of spying on him, and later-- how she eventually fell in love with adam--despite the prevailing racism and prejudice of the era. (shown brilliantly and not preachy)

Brasher, shocked by his wife's revelation, leaves for the moon. Where, his solace is interrupted by the Watcher. [Utau shows Adam his ability to understand all creeds, and colors..youll get the pun after reading the issue)
Anyway, during a conversation with the Watcher on the mechanics of prejudice and its in end result( using the Kree war as an example) he reminds them of the first time that they met.

At that time,(1960's) an alien invasion task force assembled over the moon with the Earth within its sights. Blue Marvel dispatches the armada with relative ease.

Cut back to the present, Adam decides to resume his Blue marvel identity. Answering Tony Starks call to defeat the reemergent Ani-man.

Personal addendum:

Some may wince at the depictions of racism/classism in this issue..but I for one thought the examples were handled with class and dignity. Believe me when I say, given the many instances in which Kevin could have used we were shown the lighter versions of such abuse.

All in all, this is one of my fav minis--alongside the Yost Storm--X:men Apart., Pak War machine ongoing, I am proud to say Marvel has upped the bar.

I liked this issue but not as much as the first two. I wonder what the limits of Adams strength is. The Watcher doesn't lie, so I believe Blue Marvel could split the moon in two if he tried.

I do hope Kevin explain next issue why Adam totally retired even when the world was in jeopardy.Maybe he waited until he knew for certain that the hero community failed in saving the Earth.  The biggest thing I can remember that treaten the whole world and the general public knew about was the Kang war in Avengers. Unlike Sercet Invasion that war took days if not weeks to end. Galactus was a major problem but he never really began feeding before he was stopped so his presence really didn't effect the whole world. The general public didn't know what was going on in the Infinity books other then half the population disappearing. So maybe he was one of the missing.

Kevin doesn't really have to go in that much detail but Adam does have to explain himself.

Broome art was slightly inconsistent for a few frames. And I find the inking a little strong. It seems that

One thing of note I think is Adam's youthfulness. Adam almost seems immortal because Broome didn't age him one bit. The same lines on his face in the 60's are the same lines on his face in the present. And he has less grey hairs on his temples than Reed Richards.
