Stranded Extra Dimesional Terrestrials masquerading as human attempt to recreate a 'drive' to return home. The aliens wrecked on earth in the U.S. during the late 1800's. Looking like white folk they purchase some African slaves in an attempt to awaken the various energy sources they would need to make a drive.The aliens experimented with the slaves and had success but weren't able to coordinate their departure before a contingent of the altered captives decided to leave their strange keepers.

In each generation the alien handiwork would surface in the offspring of those 10 escaped slaves. All manifesting in different ways and producing whole families of metahumans.

One such offspring is the hero known as Sling Shot so named for his talent with inertia, and his signature move of siphoning velocity from moving objects and channeling them into himself for super speed and durability or in a throwing weapon.
