Unless you're on a Super Team... you're pretty much your own boss as a Superhero.  So why make inflexible hours?  I'd be doing the super-thing whenever the need or mood struck me.

It's not as though you have to buy every variant cover that comes out.  If you don't like or want them then there's the absolutely simple solution of not buying them.
Whether I buy them or not basically depends on if I really like the art work or I don't.  Some I like more than the standard version so I buy that instead.  Sure their main purpose is for the publishing companies to sell more issues but considering they're in the publishing business that seems to make sense.  No one is holding a gun to anyone's head and forcing them to buy every variant cover available.  If someone chooses to do that then it's their choice.

I really enjoy all the books I read but there are a few I'm enjoying more than the others.

Birds of Prey

The current storyline with the Joker and Barbara Gordon getting closer and closer to a showdown is really getting me excited for each new issue that comes out.  I like all the characters in the book, especially Barbara/Oracle who has always been a favorite of mine.  Right now, whenever I pick up a new issue, is the first thing that I read when I get home.

Secret Six

It's warped, it's twisted, it's darkly funny.  The characters are great, unique, and just freakin' insane.  The villain is one of the most creepy, disturbing evil bastards out there.  It's my absolute favorite book right now.  Great writing, love the art, love the whole plot.

Action Comics

The whole New Krypton saga is off to a great start but specifically "Action Comics" has been just amazing lately.  Geoff Johns' Brainiac story was incredible.  It's a great time to be reading Superman stories but especially if you're reading action comics.

Two awesome evil-geniuses who've been able to use their fearsome intellect to take on Superman and Wonder Woman.  I'd love to see these two put their evil heads together and see what horrific schemes they can come up with.

I love "Birds of Prey" because I love Barbara Gordon.  She's one of my all-time favorite heroines no matter what her incarnation.  I remember watching reruns of those classic cheese-fest Adam West "Batman" shows when I was a kid and even thinking the character of Barbara/Batgirl was kind of cool on a show where absolutely nothing was "cool."  I like the whole team though: Oracle, Lady Blackhawk, Manhunter, Huntress, etc.  And I'm really excited for the current storyline that's going on right now and the eventual Barbara/Joker face off that it's leading towards.

"Supergirl" I enjoy.  I do... I know sometimes her story goes all over the place but honestly I enjoy the character.  I'm really excited to start reading the new direction it's going as well.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is my lone non-DC comic on the list.  I'm just so impressed with how it really does still feel like the characters from the tv show.  The dialog, their stories... it really feels as if the show never ended when you're reading one of the comics.

I've just added the new series "Secret Six" to the monthly ones I read.  That first issue completely hooked me.  It's twisted and weird and funny and creepy... how can I not love it?

"Superman/Batman" is great.  I love both of those characters and they are my number one and number two on my list of the greatest heroes but I love them even more together.  Their friendship is just this great balance for the two characters.

I've just finished reading the last Wonder Woman series that there was through all the trade paperbacks that my roommate had and I've started on the new series.  I really like "Wonder Woman" but I honestly am still figuring out what's going on in her world right now.  So far I'm liking it.

I read the "Green Arrow/Black Canary: Road to the Altar" and I kind of got hooked so they've been added to my list as well.  So I've got a few "Green Arrow/Black Canary" comics sitting here but I'm holding off on reading them just yet because I want to read their "Wedding Album" TPB first and I've already ordered it so it should just be a couple of weeks before I can start catching back up with them.

"Justice League of America"... the more comics I read, the more characters I like.  This is a great way to catch up with a bunch of different DCU characters and read them working together.  At first I thought I'd add it as a great way to read a bunch of different characters and not have to keep adding all their individual books.  Looking at the size of this ever growing list... I don't think that plan worked out to well for me.

"Superman": I'm not one hundred percent sure what's going on in his world right now because, so far, all the issues I've read have been pre-occupied with him fighting someone named Atlas.  I've read tons of back issues of "Batman" but I'm kind of hesitant to jump into the middle of this current RIP storyline but he's my favorite.
