It just keeps getting better and better! Rip convinces Booster that he must save Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl from being shot by the Joker. As a point of note, Ted Kord (Blue Beetle) did love her and Rip uses that as motivation. Rip also promises Booster that as soon as Batgirl is saved, they will travel to the point in time where the Blue Beetle was shot and save him too. Fan's of these characters will know that the Beetle was Booster Gold's best friend. The Book cuts to a heart-breaking showdown with a Joker, in which Booster learns some truths about the nature of time travel. There is also a nice 'Beetle twist' at the end.

Ollie is rescued by Connor while Canary and Speedy keep Athena occupied. We find out a little more about why Athena (Granny Goodness) had Ollie abducted and why Everyman tried to kill Canary. The book has loads of action and the rescue is fun to watch. Winick has Ollie's character down pat. There are a few more behind-the scenes shots with Granny Goodness and Desaad, who make it very clear that they are far from finished with the Arrow Family. Team Green is happily re-united on a boat (Batman's yacht) when tragedy strikes again. The book ends in a provocative image. ACK!

Superman / Batman #44: K: Chapter 1: Strange Favor During a throw-down with Livewire and stray bits of Kryptonite, Supes is left seriously injured. After 3 days of healing himself, he has a strange request for Bats ... help get rid of all the Kryptonite on the planet. Bats uses the JLA computer to come up with the model of Kryptonite caches all over the world, and they are both surprised at what looks like an inordinate amount, scattered on every continent. The task now seems almost insurmountable. This is the first, in a 6 part story arc by Heroes' writer Michael Green. The dialogue is filled with humour and an ease that you only get when two people know and respect each other. The art by Shane Davis is just too BEAUTIFUL. And if all that isn't enough, there is a nice cameo by the Flash. This 6-part saga promises to be action-packed, fun-filled with glorious art. Well worth the US$2.99. |
