Origins

Ever since he entered the superhero world, Jason Hamilton, better known as Nighthunter had been both one of the greatest heroes and one of the greatest villains. His carreer that passed through various different teams like the Vine Villains and the Zero Squad had given him tons of experience and a reputation only a few have ever possesed, however those two things weren't enough to save him from his former teamate and friend Andferne when he betrayed both him and the team they both worked for as the second and third in command.

While the remaining members of the Zero Squad went to New Orleans against the organization simply known as "The Outlaws" to avenge the betrayal of Andferne, the destruction of their headquarters, the severe injury of Hawk during the explosion of said plac e and the death of their teamate Nighthunter. Mr. Hamilton received the news that the man he had trained and raised ever since he was a child was now dead.

After mourning the loss of his "son" he would receive a visit by a mysterious old stranger who claimed that he knew who he and Jason Hamilton were, he then revealed that Jason had prepared for the day of his eventual death by doing a few projects that would be put in motion once he died, not only that but he also left in a disk that the old man gave Mr. Hamilton a pre-recorded message in which he told him his will & testament while also saying goodbye to him and thanking him for everything he had done for him through the ages; from training him in the arts of combat and strategy to helping him take control of his organization and supporting him in his quests as both a hero and a villain.

The most important request Jason had for Mr. Hamilton was to activate a project named "Project 54" in which he would give life to a man in suspended animation that would take his place and become the new Nighthunter. In truth that man was an altered clone of Jason that was modified in order for him to gain the atributes of a peak human and a genius without needing an entire life to reach those levels.

Mr. Hamilton would follow Jason's last wishes and bring that man out of suspended animation, the man was a newborn but still he has the body of a nineteen years old. Once the man woke up Mr. Hamilton would tell him about his purpose in life and how he was destined to become the new Nighthunter, taking the mantle that Jason Hamilton had left when he died.

This of course was too much for the young man to handle and so he denied doing what Mr. Hamilton taught him. As time passed Mr. Hamilton started to notice that the mind of the man even though it was young quickly adapted to become as sharp as the one of someone with the years of experience that his body would suggest, he also noticed that even though he was an almost  perfect clone of Jason, this young man who hadn't even chosen a name wasn't a natural leader nor as arrogant or sure on himself as Jason, in fact he showed little to no interest in the superhero business or in any of the organizations and teams in which his predecessor had taken part of.

Mr. Hamilton knowing that the boy would need a more experienced and skilled teacher than himself to live up to the standards of his predecessor, told him to go in search of the man named Michael Lockhart for training and that after he was done to make the decision of continuing the steps of his creator or take a life of his own.

Mr Hamilton said:

"Jason Hamilton became against what many people expected one of the greatest heroes in the world. The man known as Michael Lockhart served with him in Iraq in the team known as the Peacemakers. Both were soldiers that had no powers and that decimated hundreds of enemies, those sins would eventually lead them both on their paths to evolve from soldiers into legendary heroes, by meeting Lockhart you'll be as close as it can be to meeting Jason, maybe by meeting a real hero you'll learn to understand and follow their ways and understand what an honor for you it is to be able to name yourself Nighthunter"

Meeting the legend

Thinking that he had nothing to lose, the man with no name would travel to the middle of the Himalayas in search for the man that was both a war veteran and founding member of the "New Age Outlaws", the first hero team of the world, that man was Michael Lockhart but most people knew him as Last Arrow.

The man had now retired, leaving his life of a hero behind and going into exile. Due to the lack of concrete information of the whereabouts of the temple to which Lockhart had gone to find solitude and the bad weather it had taken the young man almost an entire month to be able to find the temple after reaching the mountains, unknown to him he was getting more used to his body and was only able to survive that long because of the great condition in which his body was.

After Lockhart agreed to become the teacher of the man with no name he told him that the first step to become a hero and figure out what to do with his life was to find himself, in order to do that he needed to take a name that would all be his own. After much thought on the subject, the man decidedto take the name of Jake and the last name Hamilton in respect to his predecessor and his teacher.
After that a set of various different trials and excersises came for Jake, having no previous training whatsoever made Lockhart have to show even the most basic stuff to him, however thankfully to both of them Jake proved to be a prodigy just like his predecessor and in no time mastered almost every single thing that Lockhart taught him.

As time passed he started to develop some skills more than others and that's the moment in which his similitudes to his predecessor started to emerge, Jake may not have had the courage and confidence that so greatly remarked Jason, however his use of the strategy and his ability to quickly become a master in several different areas showed that he in fact had some of the things that had made the original Nighthunter stood up from other heroes.

Many years had to pass but by the end Jake had become one of the most skilled men alive thanks to the trainings of Lockhart, not only that but inspired by his teacher he decided to claim the mantle that he had rejected 5 years ago and become the new Nighthunter. Ironically his arrival had an effect that neither he or Mr. Hamilton had forseen, thanks to the influence of Jake, Michael Lockhart had decided to come back to the superhero world, reclaiming the name and costume of Last Arrow.

Nighthunter

Now fully trained, Jack Hamilton returned to the world and did the one thing he was created for: Take the mantle of Nighthunter and continue his legacy. After that he was injected with nanobots that were identical to the ones that the original Nighthunter used for his power suit, however due to the fact that he still didn't consider himself up to the standard of his predecessor he decided to use another design that while similar enough so that people made the connection, he could still be considered his own man.

He would then be introduced to Renegade Lantern and just like his predecessor before him, he would join the Zero Squad and work his way through the ranks, this would help define Nighthunter's hero nature and his way to aproach things on a more heroic way, while Jason had a more "direct" way of handing things by doing whatever the ocasion needed.

After finding out that the man behind the death of Jason was Andferne, Nighthunter decided to search him and eliminate the target as a way to get payback. This would lead to him setting Andferne up in the roofs of New Orleans and beating him by outsmarting and taking him by surprise just like he had taken his predecessor in the past.

After a brief battle Nighthunter left Andferne for dead without knowing that their paths would crossover as years passed as enemies, rival, allies and even friends. As time passed Nighthunter also proved to be a valuable member of the Zero Squad, his use of tactics and strategy quickly placing him as one of the most skilled members of the squad and would make Renegade Lantern decide to make him the new leader of the team once he left. A decision that would soon prove to be unwise as Nighthunter didn't show a good enough leaders hip to keep the team from disbanding.

Saddened by his failure as a team leader, Nighthunter would quit for a time the superhero business and travel around the world, deciding to use part of the fortune he inherited from Jason to buy a great area and made sure that it wouldn't appear on any map by paying to the right people, there he built a mansion that would work as his new headquarters where he installed the most advanced security system in the world and where he started to develop various different projects in his lab. Knowing that by the time he came back to the game he would need a more global positio n he started to do the same progress on various different key locations around the globe so setting a group of various safehouses that would help him in case that he worked close to those areas.

It was then that Nighthunter would meet again with Andferne who would explain to him that the reason behind him betraying and killing the original Nighthunter wasn't on his control and that a witch named Charmcaster had been the one responsible of controling him, after that was settled both heroes would become allies and work on several different missions, that's probably why he was the first man that Andferne contacted when all went wrong....

Ultimate Betrayal

Having left the Outlaws had made Andferne become an enemy on Gambler's eyes, this would lead to him along with his brother Clutch to start a set of various attacks on different angles against Andferne. Using the now reformed Hellfire Club to set a trap and keep Andferne away from his wife, Gambler and Clutch had been able to greatly injure Lexi, after recovering the body of his wife Andferne decided that the only place she would be safe would be in the mansion of Nighthunter.

While Andferne went to New York where he started to recruit as many heroes as he could, Nighthunter stayed behind and used nano-technology to cure Lexi's injuries that would have taken her months to recover from in a matter of simply a day, after that he along with Lexi joined Andferne along with the heroes he had recruited for the mission.

Members of Mobb Deep, We Are Legend and former members of both the Outlaws and the Zero Squad had reunited to fight the menace of Gambler and the Hellfire Club, however unfortunetly for them he had become the Secretary of Defense of the United States of America, gained the control of several of the world's most powerful armies and made all of the heroes enemies of the state .

Knowing that they were against something bigger than anything they had fought in the past, the heroes separated on different strategy teams, some of them were to rescue Last Arrow and Slinger from prison while bringing the fight directly to the Secretary of Defense and Hellfire Club leader Gambler, others went to fight against both Aztek and Final Arrow who were framing Andferne of the horrible crimes they were commiting, on the other hand Nighthunter was sent on a sole mission with the purpose of trying to wake the senses on the American people.

Taking over a CBS station Nighthunter was able to broadcast a message on every single channel in which he tried to remind the people of Infrigement and the similitudes it had to what the current Secretary of Defense was trying to do to the heroes, after that he was confronted by Gambler himself who by setting a quick set of assasinations to the key members of the President's council along with the President himself had now taken the charge of the Oval Office.

The two of them fought, however the fight was interrupted when Renegade Lantern came to aid Nighthunter by sending a nearly fatal attack to Gambler, after that Renegade Lantern proceeded to try to kill the President, something that Nighthunter wouldn't let happen because they were supposed to be the good guys in the situation and killing the President in cold blood wasn't an option, this led to another confrontation for Nighthunter, this time against his former leader Renegade Lantern at that time he was able to take Gambler out of Renegade Lantern and by using his strategy be able to escape from Renegade Lantern.

This would make Nighthunter seem like a traitor to the other heroes and would make him have to retire of the superhero game for a long time, it was then that he entered a madness state that would make him turn against his former allies and make New York the victim of a great chaos once again.

Fall into madness

It was during this time that Nighthunter started to develop a sense of need for making the world a place where only humans lived once again, eliminating all of the mutants and other powered beings being the progress to make it happen. That's how he started to vigilate the few heroes that still patroled the cities of the world, by analysing them he was able to come up with different ways to kill them individually and developed various set of traps and machines that could hunt any super powered being and adapt themselves to kill each one.

His first step was to recruit Mr. Sinister and Darkchild to help him in his plans without revealing to them his real agenda, his second one was make a preventive attack against New York using missiles to grab the atention of several different heroes, many of them being ex-members of the Zero Squad.

After that he ade Mr. Sinister disguise himself as a young boy to lead them on his direction, once they arrived at his mansion he was able to separate them and set various different traps that would require the limits of the heroes to survive and in case they were able to survive the trials that awaited them the recent robots of Nighthunter were awaiting to finish them off.

It didn't surprise Nighthunter to know that the one hero to lead the forces and be the first one to pass not only the trap designed for him but also the androids and reach Nighthunter was no one else but Andferne. There the hero of heroes confronted his former ally in a battle that displayed the best each one of them had to offer, however just before any of them could give the decisive hit a big and strong ray of light overcomes them, when both of them woke up they were along with the rest of the heroes and Darkchild in a place that looked like a fortress of ice.

There an ancient dragon revealed to them the purpose for what they had been brought of, with the fall of the Zero Squad the world had become a more dangerous place in which villains ruled everything, it would require the world's greatest heroes to unite in order to balance things over, it was then also revealed that the reason Nighthunter had become crazy and turned against everything he once stood for was because of a mysterious outside force that somehow was manipulating his mind.

After that the dragon cured Nighthunter's sickness and in doing so restored the hero that had been lost so many months ago, with that the heroes leaded by Andferne became the ICE dragons, the most powerful hero team in the world and brought back peace to the world by overcoming the villains of the world.

Vine Civil War

Soon after the ICE dragons were formed, Gambler, now as the President of the United States passed a new law that would make every single hero have to register their identity in order to keep working, they'll also become sponsored by the government and would have a salary like other government workers.

Some people thought that the registration arc was a natural evolution to what superheroes should be for the public and decided to register and join the program named as the initiative, in which the people that weren't skilled enough would be put into training by the experts and in doing so preventing a great number of possible dissasters.

Other heroes like Kurrent though decided that the registration arc was a violation to their rights and that so much power couldn't stay on the hands of the President Jean Luc Lebeau, that's when Kurrent along with a few different heroes and villains rebeled to the registration arc and in doing so put in motion a civil war that would completely change the relationships between superheroes.

One of the first heroes to register was Nighthunter who not only passed his tests with the highest grades possible but also decided to unmask himself during a press conference to prove the people that they could still count and trust on their heroes and that he had nothing to hide, by doing so everyone on the planet now knows his identity.

Nighthunter said:

"I've thought about the initiative a hundred times over, if it is a good proposal or a bad one and the changes that it will bring, one of those is that people that are afraid of people with the power of gods taking the law on their hands will now be able to rest well knowing that they can trust their heroes...however that doesn't mean that I expect you to trust it right away, you need proves and that's what I'm going to give you."

That's why after thinking this through at least one hundred times by now and making my decision I didn't join the fugitives of the law, that's why I called this press conference, that's why 5 hours ago I oficially joined the initiative and became a registered hero, all of that because.....I completely support the superhuman registration act"

Due to the great reputation that preceeded him he was quickly made the second in command of a black ops unit named "The Shadow Initiative" that was leaded by Akira Overdrive and consisted of only the elite of the registered heroes.It was also during this war that Gambler started to show his true colors and in doing so a fight between him and Kurrent left San Francisco in ruins, Nighthunter after knowing that the President couldn't be trusted but that he still needed to be registered to operate left the Shadow Initiative but stayed as a registered hero, preventing him from being persecuted by the law.

The return of Renegade Lantern

Months after the Civil war was over a new threat faced the ICE Dragons, one of them being their former leader and ally Renegade Lantern. Unknown to them Renegade Lantern had been driven crazy and now counted with the power of 13 power rings, the now twisted villain Renegade Lantern now saw his former allies as people who had betrayed him and attempted to have revenge.

To make things worse not all of the team was available to fight Renegade Lantern due to a situation with Darkchild who had an evil being inside of him. Knowing that the power that Renegade Lantern had was now to great to be handed without having someone loss his life Nighthunter willingly went alone planning to sacrifice himself in order to weaken Renegade Lantern and give the most powerful members of the team a better chance against him.

That's when Nighthunter revealed his two newest projects; Projects "59" and "62". The first one used the energy of the ICE Dragons mansion along with the ones of every safehouse Nighthunter had around the world and transfer all that energy into his power suit, with all that energy the nanobots of Nighthunter's power suit vibrate and increase his speed and strength to the ones of highly powered super beings, however that project had as a side-effect that it quickly injured and deteriorated Nighthunter's body giving him only around 2 minutes to use it, however Project 62 was a serum made of special nanobots that were injected on Nighthunter's skin to cure at the same moment that it's happening the problems that come with using the former project, on the other hand by combinging the two of them it quickly shortened Nighthunter's lifespan because of the great numbers of cells that are being created and destroyed at the same time, the human body has a limit of how many cells it can create in a lifespan.

Using these weapons, Nighthunter was able to face in open combat his former leader and although the power that Nighthunter had gained was enough to defeat the former Renegade Lantern this one was way beyond the powers of his former self and ended winning the fight, Nighthunter's body was burnt after that due to an explosion he did using all of his remaining energy as a one last attack.

Leaving the ICE Dragons

As time went by Nighthunter started to feel that he was needed elsewhere every time more often, this would lead him to have a drastic decision to leave the ICE Dragons and travel around the world trying to find what troubled him so much. However before he left he decided that he needed to have another fight with Andferne in which none of them was holding back.

Andferne accepted and so both teamates started to display all of the skill they both had in order to decide which one of them was the better fighter, after a brutal fight in which both fighters were greatly injured Andferne won using one of his optic blast beams. After the fight was over Nighthunter decided to give his sword to Andferne as both a prize for his victory and an omen that he would one day come back to fight in order to get it back and with that Nighhtunter took his jet and left the dragons lair, knowing that he would return one day.

The Nighthunter's society

Up to this day it is still believed that the original Nighthunter had been taken by surprise and betrayed by Andferne and that he had died that day after falling in battle against the former second in command of the Zero Squad.  However unknown to the general public and the superhero society in general, Jason Hamilton had not only survived the fight, but he had been the one that even without Andferne's knowledge manipulated the situation to make the great hero lose his heroism even if it was for a short period of time.

Months before the great fight between the two former heroes, Nighthunter had been kidnapped and contacted by a group of highly trained persons that all carried the name Nighthunter, between them the man that he originally heard the name from when he was drunk in a bar many years ago. It was then revealed to Jason that the name Nighthunter was way more than an old urban legend and that he wasn't even close to being the original Nighthunter.

Started during the time of the ancient Egypt, the Nighthunter society has always been conformed by the individuals of every country that represent the best combination of fighting skills and intelligence, it's purpose to help humanity by organizing from the shadows the downfalls of any and all civilizations that are in decadence, being responsible of every single important change in history without the knowledge of the world, this organization has had hundreds of different members the only thing that they all shared being the codename they use: Nighthunter.

The organization not only offered Jason a spot in the team, it also offered him the position of the leader thanks to the fact that both his intelligence and fighting skills were way above most humans and any member of the organization, an offer that Jason would accept, however for him to assume leadership he would need to give up any connection to the world and due to his status as one of the world's greatest hero such thing wouldn't be possible if people thought that he was still alive, this lead to Jason manipulating a few factors to make Andferne attack him and supposedly kill him.

With the world believing that he was dead and after various plastic cirugies to change his appearance drastically, Jason assumed the position of the leader of the organization while an altered clone of his took the name of Nighthunter and his position in the Zero Squad. For the next couple of years Jason would keep leading the organization and using it to grain great power in the continents of Africa, Asia and America.

Jason would later decide to order his men to kidnap the new Nighthunter in order to tell him about the secrets of the name he carried and offer a position in that place. Jake Hamilton was brought to the headquearters he would start a fighting contest in which like all of the new members of the organization had to fight each one of the members until he was able to find his ranking.

Jake quickly was able to climb the ranks with no problem, leading to a final confrontation between him and Jason, a fight that Jason would win with little to no trouble, however after that Jake was able to escape the building, this made Jason decide to take a more direct aproach to handle problems with his son, taking a new costume and codename in order to return tot he superhero and supervillain world.

The trials of a hero

After finding out the real origins of his codename, Nighthunter would travel to the Dragons Lair in order to join the ICE dragons once more, however when he arrived he noticed that the place was now completely abandoned, knowing that he now had nothing to go back for he once again parted his way, this time with the temple where he was trained by Last Arrow as his destination.

There he sought to find answers of what to do with his life, as well as tell them that he has spotted one of the monks as part of the organization, it was then that he would receive a call by his former teamate Ronin for help in a mission against the Les Assasin Silenceaux. Ronin had left the ICE Dragons a few months after they were created and brought back the Zero Squad and slowly brought them to their former glory.

After assisting them, Nighthunter was offered a position in the new roster, an offer that he would accept gladly. He later found out that Andferne had retired and gone to Greece where he lived peacefully, that made Nighthunter glad and decided to leave things like they were, however as time passed more and more new villains started to emerge, taking advantage of the lack of heroes, that's when Nighthunter left the Zero Squad (That had become a team of the government) and went in search of Andferne to Greece.

There he greeted his friend and challenged him to another battle to reclaim his sword. Unknown to him Andferne had also lost his powers during the time he was away, that however didn't stop Andferne of being an incredibly skilled opponent that almost beat Nighthunter during their fight, however after having lost a lot of blood Nighthunter was able to finally beat Andferne in a one on one fair fight. After they finished he injected both of them with a sample of Project 62 in order for them to recover of the injuries they had suffered during their encounter as well as reclaiming the sword he had given his friend almost a year ago.

Nighthunter then told Andferne how much things had gone to hell ever since he had left the field and that no matter what the world still needed heroes and that those heroes needed Andferne as their leader. Andferne agreed to come back to the United States along with Nighthunter where they put the ICE Dragons back in action.

Chaos Agent

Nighthunter would later be ambushed by a mysterious man whose face was completely covered, whoever that man was had a level of skills that were among the best that Nighthunter had ever seen and way superior to his own. That mysterious man went by the codename "Chaos Agent" and was able to beat Nighthunter in no time.

After beating the proud hero, Chaos Agent would take him to an abandoned school where he would trap him, there he tortured Nighthunter both mentally and physically to prove if Nighthunter was as much of a hero as everyone believed, after that he took his mask off and showed that he was in fact Jason Hamilton who was a few years older than the last time a picture was taken from him.

There he revealed to Nighthunter how the Nighthunters society had contacted him months before his fight with Andferne and how in order for him to become the leader had manipulated his friend and teamate to betray him, he talked about how his very death had been a charade and how Nighthunter was in fact a way he designed to keep his eyes in the superhero and supervillain comunities and how using a device he had been able to influate him during the last couple of years in things like going to be trained by Last Arrow and the short time of madness he suffered.

After that he left Nighthunter to free himself and said that they would cross paths again. The realization that he had been just a weapon of his predecessor and manipulated in thinking he had a free will had devastated Nighthunter, to the point that he almost retired of crimefighting, however knowing how much the world needed him he revealed his findings to Mr. Hamilton who after using surgery was able to remove the device installed on Nighthunter's brain that had been making him vulnerable to manipulation, for the first time in his entire life, Nighthunter was completely free. He however lost one of his mentors as Mr. Hamilton dissapeared without leaving any trace, Nighthunter is sure that he went to be at the side of the man he had raised ever since he was a child.

From hero to traitor

Months later the former President of the United States of America, Gambler, along with his wife would make a coup and overcome the French government, installing a new government that was fully represented by the criminals that were former members of the Les Assasins Silenceaux.

With the help of other governments that were afraid of the position that Jean Luc Lebeau and Esther Cotillard had gained aided the former members of the French government to escape from France and offered them assylum inside their borders without the knowledge of their replacements, after that the former President of France would contact Nighthunter and ask for his help in reclaiming their government.

Nighthunter agreed, having his own agenda that could only be fullfilled if Gambler wasn't the President of France. Using his nanotechnology along with the great access he had to various heroes and villains he was able to create clones that would work as an army against the government of France using them without anyone's knowledge as their own coup.

However Nighthunter would be discovered after betraying the former French government and taken into custody as soon as the army of clones was defeated, there Nighthunter was charged with crimes against the French government and humanity and was taken to the most advanced prison in the world where he is locked up until the day he dies, the only reason he wasn't killed being for his former services to the world.

It was later revealed that the real reason behind the false coup wasn't because he wanted to install a new global safe agency directed by him like what he had declared but as a distraction that was part of a deal he made with Chaos Agent during a meeting with him, in which he revealed to Nighthunter that there was a device below the office of the French government planted decades before that had enough power to destroy billions of lives if it was used by the wrong hands.

Chaos Agent then visited Nighthunter using his civilian clothes asking him if he needed his assistance to escape and ask if the sacrifice had been worth it.

Nighthuntersaid:

"No. I don't want you or anyone else to help me leave this place, it may have been a charade but because of me hundreds of innocents died, I'll stay here as long as it needs to pay for those lives."

"You ask if it was worth it? My freedom and reputation for the lives of billions? Of course it was, I would do the trade again every time I could"

The Light Wars

Just two months after Nighthunter was transfered to the prison, a war of various lantern corps that used different colors of the emotional spectrum started to rise, each one of them having a general and leader who was chosen  by Renegade Lantern in order to let the entire universe be consumed and leave place for the event that the prophesies knew simply as "The Blackest night".

Nighthunter was chosen by the leader of the Green Lantern corps and teamate in the ICE Dragons, Paragon, in order to be one of the extra Green Lanterns of space sector 2814, an offer that Jake would accept after finding out about the attacks of the other corps against Earth, New Oa, Mogo and other locations of the universe.

The newly appointed Green Lantern then would fly towards the North Pole in order to reunite with the other new Green Lanterns of Earth like Ferro Vida, Uchiha Nevann, Nano and Light. On his way though, he noticed how a small building emerged in front of him so he decided to check it because of simple curiosity. In it he found a witch that went by the name Arcana and had the ability to read the cards and predict the future by doing so, interested in what could be told about him, Nighthunter decided to take a lecture which warned him of future events.

The cards indicated that Jake Hamilton had a dark future ahead of him and that it would end in tragedy, the witch concerned warned him and told him that he was just in time to step back before he didn't have that chance anymore, a proposition that Nighthunter after ceasing his mind decided to ignore and go into the war of light even when he knew that it was his final battle.





Nighthunter said:

"I've learnt that eventually darkness will come for every single one of us, even the best of us. It is just because of that, that we need to find our way to find the light in these situations and become one with it in order to lead others on the same way. The night is darkest just before the dawn and if I don't see that light again, I'll make sure that others will."

After joining with the other Green Lanterns, Nighthunter and Paragon would go to Russia in order to investigate about the attack of Darkchild there who had become the general of the bearers of the yellow side of the emotional spectrum. After that they decided to go to New Oa in order to protect it from the hordes of enemies that they knew that were comming, however Nighthunter knowing the dark future that awaited him decided to stay a few minutes more in Russia in order to record a file with his ring which he called "Last will and testament". After that the two Green Lanterns arrived at New Oa just before Renegade Lantern went in a coma and all of the rings shut themselves up.

A month later the war of light restarted and all of the key players started to move to protect various key areas. The big battle was centered between New Oa and Mogo when the Red Lanterns attempted to make Mogo explode while the Blue and Green Lanterns fought valiantly to protect the biggest and most powerful lantern.

Various of the world's greatest heroes had also joined the fight on different of the corps. Andferne as expected became the leader of the Blue Lanterns and even adquired the power of Lstpaladin when he gave him his powers for the great battle ahead. Other heroes like Simon Williams, Talon, Feral Nova, Akira Overdrive, Kiara Sullivan, Sha and villains like Warsman and King Hyperion had also joined into the conflict making it become bigger than ever expected.

While the rest of the lanterns gathered around Mogo and New Oa, Nighthunter decided to go back to Earth when he detected that Renegade Lantern was flying towards there as a way to try to convince him to stop the war of light because he was the only one capable of doing so. Jake was able to meet Renegade Lantern just before he arrived at Earth, however he simply dissapeared quickly after that, unknown to Nighthunter, Renegade Lantern had gone to a volcano to get rid of his life to do exa ctly what Nighthunter wanted.

On the meantime, Jake also detected the arrival of King Hyperion who had come back to Earth to cause even more destruction. A great rage started to emerge inside Nighthunter's heart because of this, making him vulnerable for a few moments for a red ring to take over him, however in the end with his willpower alone he was able to get rid of it and go to confront King Hyperion.

Their fight was then joined by both Talon/X-23 and Feral Nova who each tried to assist the other fighters, however even with the help of Feral Nova the prophesy that Arcana gave to Nighthunter couldn't be stopped and Nighthunter rushed to teleport himself and King Hyperion to the Vega System as soon as his ring informed him that King Hyperion was a living bomb that would destroy Earth no matter if he was killed or not.

After that he released the full power of the Green Lantern ring in a single blast against the two of them, killing the hero and the villain almost instantly and leaving only ashes where the legendary hero once stood. When the explosion was over, Nighthunter's power ring became 6 different rings which went to separate locations aroung the universe to show different messages to the various people that he wanted to say goodbye to. Andferne, Sovereign Son (Formerly known as Last Arrow), Hawk, Lstpaladin, Paragon and Chaos Agent all received their own ring which showed an hologram of Nighthunter saying his goodbye to his friends in a different way.

Nighthunter's ring (talking to Andferne) said:

The world still needs heroes, but more importantly, the heroes need someone to remind them of how to act like one, that's you old friend”

Besides giving a last goodbye to Andferne, his copy of the ring also offered him the position of being his new bearer due to Nighthunter chosing so, with that Andferne became a composite lantern that could turn the battle on the favor of the forces of good in their fight on Mogo. Days later a funeral was held for both Nighthunter and Renegade Lantern, none of them had a body to bury due to the way they died.

Unknown to Nighthunter, his death has made alongside other things, make Chaos Agent return to the hero side and rebuild the Zero Squad with a new great generation.
