Trinty #3 - Dude?

If anyone can explain what the heck happened in Trinity #3 to me, then please do. Okay, this is what I got from the issue:
  • The JLA go and fight this monster dude.
  • They're obviously losing, but then the trinity come just in time to save the day.
  • Superman gives orders, and the bad guys who are watching this in an undisclosed location are discussing the power dynamics are in play between the trinity (which is probably the most interesting part out of this whole issue).
  • Superman gets punched in the face, then everybody has either stunned or concerned looks on their face.
  • Oh, and Wonder Woman looks like an air-headed bimbo.

So what's the low-down on Trinity? I admit I haven't read the first two issues but this issue seems really lacklustre.
