Childhood

Born in 1844 to Xavier and Martha Wallace, Raphael Wallace a very smart boy growing up. Born in the slums of Liverpool, Raphael often found himself wondering if he was truly home, if he truly belonged. It was not long before Raph was graduating from high school and eventually college with a 4.0 grade average. His main interests of studies were Chemistry and Biology. Notable hobbies of Raphael include lighting things of fire and watching them burn and smoking cigarettes. Having started smoking at such a young age, it was hard for Raph to participate in a lot of sports, and being invited to friend's place wasn't easy because he always smelt of tobacco.

Teen Years

After graduating from the University of Liverpool, Raph set up a laboratory at the back of his father’s small Romanesque restaurant, where he could conduct his experiments and studies. His main studies experiment was to try and create a device of some sort that could briefly create a flame in order to light a cigarette or anything else.

The Study

After many years, and many different experiments, Raph had finally come up with a way to have fire created out of nothing but friction and phosphorus. He had come up with the chemical compounds and decided to market them, he became exceeding wealthy extremely fast, having his parents set up in the most expensive villa in Liverpool, not to mention a very large ranch in southern California.

The Accident

Raph, now with a net worth of over 281 million had set up many warehouse factories all over the world, and by 1871 he was the only marketer for what he called and what we know today as “Matches”. A large shipment was due to arrive in Brighton, however the ship containing all the chemicals and compounds was hijacked by religious extremists in a plot to put Jihad on Raph because of his wealth which has encouraged smoking at a rapid rate.

The religious extremists piloted the shipment directly into the dock at which Raph awaited his shipment. There was explosion to the lights at which you would never see. Purple, blue and red flames filled the air as did smoke and smog. For hours the fire raged on until it had finally eaten away at half of Brighton. The fire eventually ran out of things to burn and settled; Raphael Wallace was considered burned alive.

Raph awoke and found himself floating on his back among the wreckage of his factory. His skin seemed a burnt, purple yellow color. It was not till he got home that he realized of virtually any friction he can create fire and control fire. From clicking his figures he could create a virtually infinite flame (as long as there is oxygen in the atmosphere). The only thing Raph noticed could stop him was water, which till he would dry would be unable to create any fire, with still the ability to control it. Just like wet matches.

New Life

Still presumed dead, Raph wanted to keep it that way having discovered his new powers, he analysed as being a religious curse beseeched upon him by the religious extremists. He feared being burnt to the stake for wizardry or Satanism, so he went into hiding; take what fortune he could with him. He setup shop in a small Italian town by the name of Palermo. He bought himself a nice beach house complete with a laboratory so he could try and reverse what had happened to him.

Heroism

It did not take Raphael Wallace long to realise that his condition was virtually irreversible; however it could be used for good. He found that throughout the day he could help a lot of people by lighting their fires; cutting down trees (he could concentrate his flame to a dense straight line). People slowly began to accept his ability, mainly because burning him to the stake didn’t exactly work. Any type of puncture they made would instantly heal, it would look as if there was a thin protective coat of fire all around his body continuously healing and improving his body.
