The Legend Begins

Here find the tale and legend of one who was born the son of a God. A strong and powerful Norse God who was the first ruler and King of Asgard.  A God whose power was so vast and dominant there was no limit to his abilities.  He was one of the first, one who actually created Asgard from the nothingness of space and time. He was a complete warrior and ruled his people with justice and power.  All the other Gods believed in him and gave to him their complete loyalty.   His name was Preen.

                                                                                                                                     

One thing the reader of this tale must realize is that even though the two worlds started out the same, events did not necessarily play out the same way.  There are differences between the two, caused by different courses of action by the individuals living there.  Both were created the same, but with each having free will some chose to take different paths which caused some things to be very different.

Origin

Many years passed and Preen’s Asgard flourished.  He took the Goddess Gaea as his wife and they bore three sons.  The youngest son would be named Donar and was his father’s favorite son.  (He would later be known as Donar Preen's son, the LstPaladin)  From his birth Preen paid him special attention, grooming him to one day take the throne and be the next ruler of Asgard.  Preen made
arrangements for his son.  Knowing his son would need a powerful weapon of his own he collaborated with the elves to create a weapon which had no equal.  A weapon of magic and Godly power, a hammer called Mjolnir.  With this powerful weapon and the Godly force which was his birthright Preen knew in his heart that his son would also have no equal once he reached the age when he would no longer be a child.

But this story like so many others was not destined to have a happy ending.  There would be an event coming quickly to the Gods of this Asgard which would change their happy existence to one of death and destruction.  They knew it as Ragnarok



Preen knew the result of Ragnarok was predetermined.  However he could not bear the thought of his beloved son dying such a horrible death before he even had the chance to live.  So Preen made the decision to send his son, along with others which were also of his age to the Asgard of Odin.  This way at least there would be some survivors from this world.  Preen felt in his heart this was the right thing to do, so he commanded it to be so.  Before the destruction of Ragnarok could overcome them the babies of Gods were sent through time and space to another home.

Odin received the new arrivals with open arms, knowing what must be the fate which would cause Preen to send them here.  He looked at the small group; one male who Odin knew was the son of Preen and three females.  Odin knew it was very important to keep this secret.  In an attempt to further protect the son of Preen Odin took Paladin’s memory away so he would not know who he was, and sent him to earth, to live as a mortal until the time was right for him to know of his true identity.  Odin also received the things Preen sent with the children, special items which would be given to them when the time was right.

Upon the earth Paladin was given to the care of a noble family.  His earthly father was a knight in the service of the King of the land.  Paladin grew up in this home, learning things like honor, loyalty, and truth.  He learned the ways of chivalry and knighthood.  He grew to be a tall, strong young man whose bravery and honor was without question in the land.

The son of Preen lived in the mortal world as one of them, until the day came which returned him to his true heritage.  Because of the treachery of the King’s most trusted advisor all the King’s family except one were murdered.  The only survivor was his daughter, the princess Teresa.  Knowing she too would be killed he tracked her down and would have fought to the death to protect her, but that was not to be his destiny.  Being surrounded by the solders of the traitor Gaul Paladin knew that a battle would result in her death.  He was offered a deal by the evil captain of this army.  If he surrendered the princess would be spared.  The plan was to blame the death of the king on Paladin, and the captain would wed the Princess giving him claim to the throne.  Paladin agreed knowing this was the only way he could save the life of the princess.

Paladin dropped his weapons and was taken prisoner.  He was beaten, and wounded and tortured beyond what anyone could withstand.  Then his body was thrown into a hole in the earth and left for dead.  This is when Odin stepped in.  He was not about to let the son of the God Preen come to such an end.  Paladin was taken to Asgard where his injuries would be cared for.  It took a long time to heal, but now Paladin was among the Gods.  He was as close to home as he had ever been.

While in Asgard Paladin learned many things.  The Goddess Sif taught him how to fight with the sword as only a Godly warrior can.  The Goddess Gina taught and reminded him of the honorable things he had learned while on the earth.  She showed him there are those who still have compassion and love for others.  He learned how to stand against tyranny, to help those who were weaker than himself.  She completed his education on the ways of truth and justice.  He even spent time with the legends of this Asgard, Thor, Heimdall, Balder, and the warriors three.  All of them became good friends, and brothers. When the time came Odin took Paladin aside and returned his memory to him.  Odin also took Paladin into a special room, where there were items kept until the time came for them to be used.  This is where the hammer was, and Paladin immediately saw it as it sat upon a table.  Odin told Paladin he would only be able to lift the hammer if he was worthy and the time for his destiny had come.  Paladin slowly walked over to the hammer, took hold of its handle and lifted it with ease.  As he stood holding the hammer chest high he could feel the enormous power of the hammer flow through his body.  Now LstPaladin was complete, now he was ready to go down the road toward his destiny.

Returning to the Earth

LstPaladin returned to the earth but it was many years later than when he had left.  Upon his return he did not find the medieval world he remembered but a modern world of today.  He knew he would need to find others here that also wanted to make a difference.  Other heroes who he could learn from, for he knew he had much to learn about this new world.  He sought out a team of heroes that had a reputation for fighting for justice and what was right.  The name of this team was the Zero Squad.  He contacted the leader, a powerful being called Renegade Lantern.  He was met with friendship from the start and Renegade told him he may join the team if he could pass a test.  Paladin readily accepted the condition and went to a lonely mountain top to await the coming challenge.

Soon the challenge arrived.  It was in the form of a powerful being, one who was also connected to Asgard.  The impressive being was called Andferne.  There was to be a battle to determine if Paladin was worthy to be named among the Zeros.  The battle began and soon Andferne realized this stranger was worthy.  Little did Paladin realize at this moment that he had just met the one who would be his mentor, his friend and brother.  One who would be there for him time and time again.  This simple meeting was the beginning of a bond of brotherhood that would never be broken.

As a member of the Zero Squad Paladin met some of the most powerful heroes in this world; Renegade Lantern, Andferne, Nighthunter, Gambler, Spartan, Rayne, and Last Arrow just to name some of them.  Then later others would also join.  Two of these would also become like brothers to him, Ronin and Hawk.  And there was another who later joined.  She would adopt him as her brother.  Little did he know this would be a enormous source of pain and heartbreak for him.


Almost as soon as he joined Zero they were cast into a tremendous battle against the most evil and vile creatures on the vine.  The Vine Villians lead by Final arrow and one known as Darkchild.  It was in this battle that Paladin learned quickly how strong the evil force on this world actually was.  During this battle Gambler was seduced by an evil witch and disappeared from deep within the VV stronghold.  It was also in this battle that Paladin first met Darkchild in battle; a battle which raged on with no clear winner.  For before the battle could be won the evil illusion disappeared and the zero squad saw they had not been in a battle against the villains at all, but their own flesh and blood.  They had been deceived to believe they were in a battle against evil, but that was not the case.  This would be a heavy burden for them to carry.  It could be said that this was the beginning of the end of this famous hero team.

The Zero Squad could not survive the torment they felt so one by one the team began to fall apart.  LstPaladin stayed till the end, when only Nighthunter and himself were left.  They talked and made the decision to disband the famous team, shook hands and both went their separate ways.  Even though their team was no more their bond of brotherhood would remain forever.  Each one knowing they could counter on the ther for help if ever they needed a friend.

For awhile Paladin remained as a lone warrior, not associated to any one group.  He llived and learned many things, endured trials and hardships.  There are many things which shall remain untold, for to know of them would certainly bring fear and hardship to the hearer.  There are some things Gods must face alone, and there have been multiple times the God of Thunder has stood between the human race and catastrophe. 

ICE DRAGONS

LstPaladin was fortunate that he was allowed to join a new hero team.  One formed with the bond of brotherhood and friendship.  He formed many friendships while with ICE, and is still proud today to say he is one of them.

There were many adventures he faced while on earth.  All the while he stood for justice and honor.  The Ice Dragons also stood for these things.  However all good things must come to an end and so it was with Paladin's time on this earth.  The more time passed the more he realized this world had gone too far, too many had given into evil and did not want to be saved from themselves.  This was one of the signs he looked for to let him know it was time to move on.  One day in the Ice lair a beautiful messenger came and found him, and with only a brief greeting of, its time he knew.  He nodded his head, looked back for a moment then left with the Goddess.  He returned to his home world, to become King of Asgard.  As they traveled through the portal Joan placed a powerful spell just behind them which would prevent anyone from following them.  All ties to this world of disillusionment were severed, and the God of Thunder would not look back.  Just as the beings of this world had done to him, he now turned his back on them.  Leaving them to be consumed by their own lusts evil nature.
