Born to Lance and Debra Micheals, Jen grew up never knowing that she was a mutant. Until the day she burned right through a wall. It was at this point everyone realised something was not quite right with Jennifer. Soon after her powers were discovered, Jen was contacted by Professor Charles Xavier and his X-Men. Eager to join Jen bid goodbye to her parents and became an X-Woman herself. At this point, however, Jen was young and impetuous (15), so she left the X-Men to venture out on her own and make her own place in the world. And this, my friends, is where our story begins...

Powers

Absorb & Release
Absorb & Release

Energy Absorption:

Jennifer can absorb large amounts of energy. This energy can then later be used as either blasts and heat. The absorbed energy has also been put to other more interesting uses. This energy can be converted into other forms. Jen's energy has been converted into physical abilities, objects and psychic abilities. Anything that is made from positively charged energy can be created or destroyed with this power. Jen can absorb energy from anything. The best comes from things that are electrically powered, but she can also disintegrate objects to obtain energy. Her powers function on the Law of Conservation of Energy, none of her energy can be lost or gained really. Over time her ability to use her energy projection powers has grown. The power being released can go from light damage (yellow light) to destructive (blue light).

Self propelled
Self propelled
Flight:

Jen has been able to propel herself using electricity in the air of her surroundings. To fly she has to spend much of her absorbed energy, especially when flying at excessive speeds. She can fly at the speed of light, but must do so sparingly as travelling this way too frequently could result in death.
When flying Jen can only use one other power at a time. Energy blasts, heat bombs, flash bolts, invisibility, and blue energy all drain her "batteries" along with flying. Using too many of her powers at once while in flight can cause her to black out and the end result would be rather messy.

Energy Manipulation:

As explained above, Jen can manipulate energy so that it becomes something new. This ability, however, takes a lot out of her. Usually she only makes "flash bolts" or "heat bombs". These are easy to make and work just as well in a battle. This power is basically a conversion of energy.
Using blue energy
Using blue energy
Heat bombs cause far more damage than flash bolts do. Heat bombs are used to blow through walls, blow up enemies and can take down the Hulk with the right amount of energy involved.
Flash bolts are used to disorient or stun opponents. They can cause burns if they are heated up to the maximum (almost a heat bomb). Flash bolts cause minimal damage. They are best used on small time crooks and escaping dangerous situations.
Energy blasts are exactly what they sound like. Taking in and converting outside energy Jen can fire out concentrated blasts at opponents. Unlike flash bolts, energy blasts can range from causing minor injuries to completely disintegrating someone. They are powerful enough to melt a tank.
Invisibility can also be achieved through the conversion of energy. Energy can be manipulated to result in the refraction of light, making Jen "invisible". The light around her is bounced off of her protons. The invisibility has its down sides, though, because it can be detected. People will notice a sort of glare.
Blue energy is a power still somewhat foreign to Jen. Discovered when she was in a state of complete and utter emotional chaos, this type of energy still has yet to relieve it's purpose. So far it is thought to be a form of mild telekinetic abilities as Jen was able to pick up and move objects with "strands" of this energy. It is invisible to most other people.

Brains and Wit:

Jen is not above average intelligence, but she can use her brains better than most. It has been proven that she has a very strategical mind when fighting. She is not easily taken down by larger opponents, or those with more experience. She is a quick learner and willing to see each mistake as a new lesson.

Weaknesses:

Power outage
Power outage
Sun and Moon Drain:

Much of Jen's energy is pulled from the Sun. When the Sun goes down, so do her power levels. Though she can draw energy from the Moon, it is not as efficient and she has to rely on energy drawn from the day or from disintegrated objects. To get a full energy restoration from the sun or moon Jen has to remain in the full light of either, unmoving, for at least ten minutes. It is not a very efficient way to obtain energy, whereas disintegrating objects is far more substantial.

Fire Retardants:

Large amounts of water, dirt and other fire extinguishing materials can put out her "flash bolts", "heat bombs", and her power ups in general. Energy blasts cannot penetrate magnetic barriers or high powered energy fields. Blue energy has no limits other than Jen's capacity to use it, as of yet.

Secret Origins (Kinda)

Lil' Jen
Lil' Jen
It was not obvious that Jennifer was a mutant at a young age. She was an average girl who loved to wear her hair in pigtails. Jen was 10 years old when her powers first manifested. It started out as small shocks given to friends or pets by accident. It wasn't until she actually blasted a giant whole through her

bedroom wall that her parents got concerned.
Her powers couldn't have come about at a worst time. Mutantphobia was sweeping the globe. In a world full of mutant hate there was really no place for Jen or her parents to turn. Once word got out that she was a mutant, Jen's life became a living hell. Only ten she had to face rude comments and brash gestures directed towards her in public.
Luckily for Jen there were many other mutants in the world. Most of them just as innocent and persecuted as her. Some of these  wished to wage war on the very humans that feared and hated them. Others were trying a more educational and tolerant route.
Three months after the discovery of her powers, Jen was confronted by the X-Men's Charles Xavier. He offered Jen a place to live free of fear and hate. A place to learn to control her powers and be with mutants like her. Jen, of course, was thrilled by the idea of living with other people like her in a safe place. Her parents required a little more encouragement, but eventually it was decided and Jen became an X-Man.

Life With Her Own

Jen was extremely excited to be part of a team of super hero mutants. She had heard all about the X-Men in the news
Why can't she fight?!?
Why can't she fight?!?
and followed their exploits almost religiously. Being the overeager, excitable, energetic and headstrong ten year old she was, Jen wished to join the X-Men on their missions. Of course she wasn't allowed. She was far too young inexperienced to help at all in battles. Also her parents would kill Professor X

if they found out she'd been in any danger at all. So she was stuck in the boring Institute day in and day out. During this time, however, she did get to learn to control her powers. After some private lessons with Cyclops (the only other mutant on the team that really understood her powers) Jen was able to get a handle on her energizing powers.
After a long while of complaining about her lack of field action Jen found a friend who wouldn't always rush off into to battle. Beast and Jen became close after he found her trying on an X-Suit and promised not to tell. Jen enjoyed helping Hank with his projects and, frankly, he loved the company. She seemed to be the only person with an interest in what he was doing.

In the action! (Finally)

Really ready?
Really ready?
Jen spent three more years moping around the Institute and hanging out with Hank. She worked extra hard on improving her powers so that she could get a chance to prove what an asset she could be. Then, finally, the time came. Professor Xavier announced that Jen could get in on some of the action, as long as she was careful, followed Cyclops' rules and got out of the way if anything got out of hand. Jen agreed. But she refused to wear an X-Suit, claiming they were U-G-L-Y. Instead, she wore her own costume.
As if on cue, Jen got into a battle the very next day.
An old X-Men foe, Sabertooth, was wreaking havoc in a nearby town. Jen was eager to fight as best she could.
Here's Jenny
Here's Jenny
On the way to the town, she bounced excitedly in her seat, disturbing Shadowcat and Iceman. When the team arrived they found that Creed had fled the town into the woods that surrounded it.
You like that?
You like that?
Under the command of Cyclops, the X-Men split up to search for Creed. They were not to confront Sabertooth, but were to fall back and contact the others.
Jen, of course, had other plans in mind. She wanted to be the first to find Sabertooth and prove to Cyclops what a great hero she could be.
Jen found Creed quickly and hid behind a tree to plan her attack. After quick calculations and strategic decisions Jen made her move. She didn't manage to take Sabertooth down on her first assault, but that's what plans are for.  She quickly devised a way to gain far more energy and used a heat bomb for the first time. Her attacks lit up the sky and the rest of the X-Men quickly found the battle. The fight was quick and easy, with Creed already disoriented by Jen's attacks. The X-Men won once again, this time thanks to a little disobedience.

Casualties of War

On the defensive
On the defensive
Even though Jen had won the battle she had lost the war. Both Professor X and Cyclops were upset by her gutsy move. Lectures about dangers and battle probation quickly followed to reprimand her. Jen was not amused. Once again she was stuck bumming around the Mansion, this time however, Hank was not as readily available. She was all by herself.
Large and in charge
Large and in charge
When she was finally allowed back into the action, Jen made certain not to go against the wishes of Cyclops or Prof. X ever again.
So, life with the X-Men started to get boring for Jen. She was never one to take orders, never a follower.
Jen quickly became a foil to Cyclops. Every plan he came up with, she had a better one. Every order he gave, she had a comment for it. Every decision he made was dismissed by her. They were butting heads, and hard.
Jen would keep on fronting all the attacks and taking charge of every situation. She always had to best Cyclops. No matter what. Finally enough was enough. Jen was pulled out of every battle the X-Men fought. She was permanently benched. Prof. X convinced her to work with the new, younger mutants in the Danger Room. Jen got bored quickly.

Out On Her Own

No hard feelings
No hard feelings
By now Jennifer was fifteen and ready to set out on her own. She hated being stuck inside while every other mutant in a funny costume got to fight crime. She left the X-Men and started out on her own path.
Using her invisibility
Using her invisibility
Now that she had a better understanding of her powers and how to use them for good, Jen felt she was ready to make a fresh start by herself.
She began to experiment with what she could do and found there was much more to her powers than just flash bolts and heat bombs. Jen could bend the light around her to make her invisible. She could also fly. It seemed that, depending on her energy intake, Jen could do pretty much anything.
She was quickly becoming a great hero all on her own. She liked it that way. Jen was the epitome of independence. She thought she'd done it all and could face any challenge that came her way.
That is until she met...

Benjamin Warrow

Nobody else
Nobody else
Jen had finally set out on her own. She was taking charge of her own life. People had become less hateful towards mutants, which made life a lot easier. Jen had become exactly what she'd wanted to be after all those years with the X-Men. A real super hero. She would still keep in touch with her old X-Men buddies, mostly Cyclops because he wanted progress reports on how her powers were doing and how she was using them, but mostly she started a whole new life. That life involved Ben.
Love at first sight....again
Love at first sight....again

Jennifer met Ben for the first time at the Xavier Institute. There he had been a very troubled boy who enjoyed using his teleportation powers for nothing but mischief. Initially, Prof. X had assigned Nightcrawler to look out for Ben and show him the ropes. It hadn't turned out so well. So he was handed around from one member of the team to the next until he ended up with Jen. It was obvious to everyone that he had a major crush on her from day one. Ben immediately fell into line and became a top notch X-Boy. Anything to impress Jennifer.
After Jen left the X-Men, Boomer (the name Ben was using at the time) fell back to his nasty habits. Soon after a fight with Mr. Sinister left him with a broken arm, Boomer left the X-Men, blaming them for his hardships.
It took Ben a quick double take to recognize Jen after two years. She'd grown up and wearing a slightly different costume to her first. Despite all the new stuff about Jen, however, Ben knew he was still in love with her. And this time she returned the feelings.

If Only For A Moment, Love Me Anyways

Boomer and Light Bright made a great team. The two of them had to only look at each other to know the plan of attack. They didn't even have to catch the others eye. Both of them, being experienced in fighting big bad guys had no problem in a fight. Until their last one together.
It had been an easy day. Nothing more than a few muggers and convenience store robbers.
Last kiss
Last kiss
Jen and Boomer decided to take it easy and have fun. They were enjoying their day off, too, until the sky turned black. The sun was quickly blotted out and people began to panic. This was no eclipse. Blasts of light came out of nowhere. Buildings crumbled and people ran. Light Bright and Boomer took action. Not knowing who the threat was until they were close enough to see him up close. Mr. Sinister. And he wasn't alone. Several of the most formidable X-Men villains had for some reason decided to team up and try and destroy the world. Among them was Magneto.
Neither Jen nor Boomer had faced Magneto in their time with the X-Men, and frankly, they were scared. He was supposed to be the baddest of the bad. Gathering up as much courage as they could Light Bright and Boomer fought their hearts out. They brought most of the villains down without getting too badly hurt. A broken ribcage here and a black eye there, until finally only Magneto was left.
Don't ever forget
Don't ever forget
There was no doubt about it. He was better than the two of them. They had no chance of beating him, especially not when they had to make sure no civilians got hurt in the process.
Their eyes met and instantly they knew what had to be done. Magneto would have to be taken far away from the populated area. Far, far away. And there was only one person there who could do that.
Jen bit her lip as tears ran down her cheeks. Boomer held her in a tight hug for their last couple of moments together. Quietly he asked her if she would remember him after and what they'd had. She agreed and he asked her, "Promise."
Jen could barely blurt out yes, so instead she kissed him and held him tighter. After one last loving look at each other Boomer pulled away and turned towards Magneto, who floated not far away in the sky. Taking a deep breath he turned to Jen one last time and smiled. She watched him vanish in blinding light then appear next to Magneto in the sky. He grabbed a hold of the master of magnetism the two of them vanished.
Jen knew that that was the last time she would ever see Ben again, but her heart refused to believe her. She never let him go...

The Morning After

So much for happy endings
So much for happy endings
It took Jennifer a long time to adjust to life without Ben. Nothing was the same without him there with her. Loneliness crept in to every part of her day. Not a moment went by that she didn't think about Benjamin Warrow.
Eventually Jennifer joined a team of superheroes called the Mighty Vine Avengers. Consisting of a great number of members this team tackled many obstacles in its short career. Dealing with everything from the Death of Thunderbolt, the leader, to the Secret Invasion. The team was eventually disbanded, but it was for the best.
Things once again picked up when Jennifer was given a spot on the team, Gods Watchful Eyes. Led by her old teammate, Kitty98, the GWE consisted of a few of her old friends from the MVA as well as some new faces. Not all of these new recruits were good and trustworthy. Jen took an immediate disliking to her new teammate Lady Deadlock, a woman with a very sketchy past.

All in all things turned out okay. Still a little hard up for money (working at a pizza parlor or getting the occasional loan from grandma) , Jennifer has very few problems in her life. Aside from having to keep in constant contact with Scott Summers of the X-Men, she has very few boundaries. The world is open to her and she is going to take what's hers.

You Too Can Have A New You

What now?
What now?
Everyone reaches a turning point sometime in their life. Good or bad. Helpful or harmful. For Jen that point was the events that occurred during the first meeting of the GWE ( Ultimate Sin). It was a life changing experience. Jen had a chance to see many of the old friends, her old team mates in a totally new light. And things didn't look too good. One thing was for sure.
Moving out and moving on
Moving out and moving on
The event had changed everyone, Jen especially. She lost one thing that cannot be easily regained. She lost her innocence.
It was during this first meeting of the GWE that she truly discovered how bitter Thunderbolt had become. She became worried for her friend, Felix, as he began to show a new and scary side himself. Even Jen began to find herself having a darker outlook on life. It was time for some changes.

When the GWE had finally settled (after the Ultimate Sin) Jen took the first opportunity she got to reinvent herself. Her first changes were small and indifferent. She simply dyed her hair black. It meant little to her, but the rest of her team mates seemed to have qualms with her new look. She didn't bother explaining herself, no else seemed to have to. What made her so different? Jen was done playing the role of "baby sister" or "little girl" for her team. She growing up and she wanted everyone to take notice.
These boots ain't just for walkin'
These boots ain't just for walkin'
The next step was to take things up a notch fighting wise. She wasn't about to get tough on the outside and not be able to take things to the next level on the inside. Her powers were already mastered and she could hold her own in a fight, but Jen wanted more. She was redoing herself completely and she didn't want to leave anything out.

The last person you want to mess with
The last person you want to mess with
With whispers of a more than deadly Infection circulating, the GWE strained it's forces trying to prevent an outbreak. Meanwhile Jen was preparing. She wasn't sure what for, but if something terrible came up again, she wanted to be ready. Jen spent every almost every day perfecting her skills. She was getting better every day, thanks to the help of a mysterious man known only as Mr. W. He supplied her with not only fighting tips, but extreme fighting gear as well, such as a new, more durable costume. One piece that Jen instantly fell in love with the pair of...killer boots.
Thanks to all the help from Mr. W and her hard work, Jen has become ready for anything. No longer is she a little girl to be pushed around. She's big and bad and she's taking charge.

Yet Another Turning Point (The Return)

Love Must Not Be Forgotten
Love Must Not Be Forgotten
Jennifer never forgot the one person that had really made her happy in life. The first boy she had ever truly loved. His name was Benjamin Thomas Warrow and for an entire year he had been assumed dead. He had simply disappeared during a massive battle with Magneto and since M-Day it was presumed he had lost his powers of teleportation. Jen thought Benjamin Warrow was never coming back. As much as it broke her heart she knew well enough to get on with her life.
Back to blonde
Back to blonde
However, miracles do happen. Benjmin Thomas Warrow did return. He had also been through a lot during the year he had been gone. While Jen had joined the team Gods Watchful Eyes, Ben had trained with a mystery woman named Eureka and travelled most of the world. He had expanded his powers and started making a difference in the world. But he was ready to put that behind him and return to Jennifer. The love they had shared before had not been forgotten. Upon Ben's return Light Bright decided to stop dying her hair and get a new costume. Once again, life was good.

All Hail Hydra!

Light Bright & Boomer, Agents of Hydra
Light Bright & Boomer, Agents of Hydra
If there was one thing Jen hated most in the world it was losing control. Whenever she lost control of her powers people were hurt. Whenever she lost control of her life someone used her. Without her control Jen was nothing. And that's exactly how Hydra hit her.
Orders are orders
Orders are orders
Being able to melt tanks and travel at the speed of light are very valued abilities for evil organizations, as it turns out. Just as Jen was beginning to get her life back together once and for all things became hideous again. She had Ben back and even a nice spot on the team Veritas Inc. But as it turns out, nothing good ever seems to last for this girl.
Hydra took both Benjamin and Jennifer in the dead of night. It's not as hard as one would think to capture a couple of heroes unawares, least of all with today's technology. The two young heroes were taken away to one of the many Hydra bases around the world and that was when the torture really started.
At Hydra Jen was mentally and physically tortured, trained to kill without a second thought, and obey only orders from Hydra. She and Ben were conditioned into complete loyalty to the organization and followed their orders to the letter. The two of them spent months proving their devotion to Hydra's cause. They killed more than a hundred innocent people over the course of those months and felt no regrets for it either. No mission was too bloody or too cruel.

Losing all control
Losing all control
It wasn't until Hydra ordered they kill an old friend that Jen's warped mind began to heal. Because he was seen as a major threat to the cause Hydra sent Jennifer and Ben to kill Mr. W. At first the name seemed only vaguely familiar to Jen. She'd endured so much pain and torture that almost everything was bent out of shape. But when she saw the face of her old mentor once again things snapped back into place. Ben's programming, however, was much more deeply rooted. He had already had an extremely troubled childhood and was never one to behave. As hard as Light Bright insisted he stop Ben continued to attack Mr. W. Until finally, in self defense, Mr. W plunged a knife into Ben's chest.
For the longest time Jen could only stand there. As the still form of her one true love lay on the floor she felt her world crash down around her. She'd lost control. She'd lost control of absolutely everything in her life. Jen couldn't even bare to look at Mr. W. She left so quickly she was nothing more than a blur. Once again she'd lost Ben and this time she knew it was for good. There was no chance he was still alive, not a single one. There was no way to bring him back, no way to ever actually say goodbye or tell him how much she loved him. For a hero, someone who was supposed to save people no matter what, Jen was doing pretty poorly. It seemed everyone around her either died or became evil under the pressure.
With no place to go, no one to turn to, and no real point in life anymore Jen actually thought of turning in her costume and calling it quits. The only problem with that was apparently the world still needed her and frankly, it's no easy thing to turn your back on being a hero.

New Alliances

Agent of SHIELD
Agent of SHIELD
Moving back to New York Jen was hoping for a fresh start. With a past involving HYDRA she knew that it would be rare for anyone to trust her. However, some things go smoother than others. The moment she returned to New York Jen was approached by an unnamed SHIELD agent and handed an envelope. Inside was her chance at a new lease in life. The only thing was, she had to be ready to get her hands dirty. Not a problem.
Keeping Lily safe
Keeping Lily safe
With her highly destructive abilities Jen was quickly assigned to the more dangerous missions, the apprehension of super powered criminals, and the occasional safeguarding jobs. It was on one of her bodyguard jobs that she realized just how much the world really needed heroes.
Jen was assigned to safely take a young girl, Lily Tanner, from New York to Seattle without any stops. It seemed easy enough, easier than prisoner transfers anyways. The girl was only eleven years old and kept quiet for most of the trip. It wasn't until the end when Lily didn't want to get off the bike that Jen figured something was wrong. When she asked Lily why she didn't want to leave the small girl burst into tears. She spilled that things at home really weren't all that great. Lily's father was never around and her mother had become deeply depressed. She took her anger out on Lily and would always tell her she was worthless.
Jen knew that it was her job to drop the girl off without any hesitations or any questions, but she already felt alone in the world. Since Ben had died she'd had no one else and Mr. W was too removed to call a friend. She also knew that she didn't feel right leaving the poor girl in bad home. So, without a second thought Jen took her bike and Lily and headed back home.

That Funez Boy

Welcome to Funez Industries, how may we complicate your mission?
Welcome to Funez Industries, how may we complicate your mission?
Two weeks after bringing Lily back home with her Jen got a call from her supervisor at SHIELD. She thought for sure she was being busted for taking Lily but instead they had a case for her. Her handler informed Jen that there were some dirty dealings going on at Funez Industries. Jen was to go in, present herself as an authorized agent of SHIELD and preform a routine inspection. Things didn't go that smoothly.
Sweet talking employees for information
Sweet talking employees for information
Jennifer Michaels has never been a fan of big, slimy corporations. Investigating Funez Industries was a treat for her because it could be her chance to take out a big, slimy corporation. However, things were a little awkward from the start. Showing up in a pretty revealing and bright costume in an office building full of suits makes you stand out like a sore thumb. Jen found that out the hard way. She also learned that you can't get into Funez Towers without an appointment even if you are with SHIELD.
Eventually tired of waiting for the annoying secretary with the manicure Jen slipped away unnoticed and flew to the top of the building. There she sneaked in and began her investigation. She knew that there were two guys in charge of the company. Some old guy who's name she'd...misplaced...and of course Jonathan Funez Jr. She'd known the kids dad and had worked with him while on the GWE but over time they'd fallen out of touch. Working for HYDRA will do that for you.
Unauthorized entry in the best kind
Unauthorized entry in the best kind
Jen didn't know much about John Jr. but she was certain he was too young and naive to be behind the underhanded deals so she headed straight for his associate...whatshisname. No one was in the office so she got right to work looking through the files and hacking the computer system. Jen found out a lot of things, scary things, that made her sick. Funez Industries was doing all kinds of horrible testing on mutant children. Before she could look further into exactly what kind of tests they were administering Jen was interrupted by a gruff voice demanding who she was and why she was in a restricted office. Jen was already having a bad day and was disgusted by what she'd seen. So she told the man exactly what she was doing and what she thought about his business. Then she left him in a cowering heap on his floor and left the office. On her way out she bumped into a young man not much older than her. He looked familiar somehow but Jen didn't really have time to talk instead she shoved past him. She was looking for Jonathan Funez Jr. and had just shoved right past him.
Soon after she made it to Jonathan Funez's office and realized her mistake. Being forever too proud to admit to such things she simply told him that he would have to comply to SHIELD protocol and submit all his company's documents. Hoping to leave before any more interruptions Jen was caught off guard when the man asked her name. "In due time, Johnny," she said with a sly smirk, "because we'll be seeing a lot more of each other. You can count on it."

WTF Is The Order Of Night?

Welcome to the Order
Welcome to the Order

She is the balance
She is the balance
Getting life back on track (once again) was actually easy for the first time. Having joined SHIELD Jen finally had enough money to get by, even if she couldn't quite afford things like utensils or pillows. She had a roof over her head and four walls to keep the elements out, and that was enough. Plus, in the company of Lily Cutler, a girl much older than her years, Jen was almost certain she would never truly be lonely. She had steady work that kept her mind off of Ben and all that Hydra stuff. Until she got the phone call that changed her life...once again.
Jennifer recognized the voice instantly. It was one she'd heard on numerous occasions. Mr. W was the one man in the world she didn't want to talk to for a long time. He had been the one to kill Ben, if only in self defense, and truly snap Jen out of her Hydra induced mind control. Only he sounded a bit younger this time, which was odd considering she only knew him as a much older man. Still, he sounded a lot like the Mr. W she knew and he wanted to talk about Ben. As much as Jennifer hated reopening old wounds Lily managed to convince her that it could be a potentially healing opportunity. So Jen gathered up all her courage and went to meet the man that had killed the love of her life.

The real Mr. W
The real Mr. W
Only he hadn't. The Mr. W Jen met with was not the one who had trained her or killed Benjamin Warrow. This Mr. W was much younger than Jen had ever imagined him to be, only about five years older than she was. The two of them met in Mr. W's office, the place Jen knew almost too well. It was as though no one had ever died there but the memories still haunted the place eerily. Her thoughts still on Benjamin, Jen wanted answers and was going to make damn sure that Mr. W supplied them.
He was indeed the real Mr. W. Because he deeply loved his privacy he had trained vicariously through the older man. That, and he knew Jen didn't take orders well, especially not from people not much older than herself. Even though he had not been the actual person training Jennifer all the methods and techniques were his. All the lessons she learned were passed on by him. He cared deeply for her, for more reasons than he just wanted to mould another great hero. Mr.W was a member of the Order of the Night, an ancient order that keeps the balance between Dark and Light. Mr. W was sent to New York to train the Balance, who just happened to be Jennifer Michaels. She has no choice in the matter, the Order of the Night has come for the Balance and they are a strong and ancient order who don't take no for an answer.
Hard core training
Hard core training

So, of course, Jen didn't say no. She took Mr. W's hand and let him take her to the order. Though she'd always been a natural born fighter, nothing could have prepared Jennifer for the training the Order was going to put her through. Mr. W would be her teacher once more, but this time things would be a hell of a lot harder. All lessons were hold no bars and Mr. W let everything loose. By the end of each day Jen was battered and bruised but she wouldn't stop training. Mostly because she believed in something greater than herself and striving towards the greater good...but also because no one else in the Order thought she was a worth candidate to be the Balance.
Time and time again Jen proved herself in the training arena, but things were going to only get tougher from there. To really prove herself she would have to face not only the Beast of Dark but of Light as well...and come out alive.

Light/Dark vs The Balance

Defeating Light
Defeating Light

Challenging Dark
Challenging Dark
Using everything she'd ever learned was only going to be just enough to keep Jen alive. She would have to defeat not only the Dark but the Light as well, both extremely accomplished fighters with beyond excellent abilities. To become the Balance she would have to make herself totally pure of spirit and full of compassion. Undaunted by the tragic deaths of all other Balances before her Jen proudly took on the challenge to become the next keeper of the peace. It would be a hard and thankless job, but weren't all of her jobs like that?
Her first battle was with the fighter known as the Light. She would have to fight him without her powers, in an environment totally alien to her. The Northern coast of Australia was chosen as the battle ground and the battle began. Light was over seven feet tall, made of nothing but muscles and seemed to have anger issues. Jen took her fair share of hits at the beginning, but eventually managed to take the testosterone tank down. After all, he wasn't going to be the hardest fight in the end. That honour was left entirely for the representative of Dark, otherwise known as Mr. W.
Jen knew that this battle would be much harder as Mr. W had personally told her that he never trained any one of his students to be even slightly better than he was. They would always have to handle being second to him, no matter how much it stung. In this case, however, it wasn't just Jen's pride on the line, it was her life. If she didn't beat her mentor then she would be proven unworthy and be put to death on the spot. She gave it her all but of course there was no way to beat Mr. W. He was just too good, with too much mastery under his belt. In a last ditch effort to take him down Jen threw a terrible sucker punch, but it connected and her opponent went down. She was sure he'd given the victory to her, but frankly she didn't much care. She had a lot more important stuff to focus on, like fulfilling her new job position as the Balance between the forces of Dark and Light.

Important Characters

Benjamin Thomas Warrow
-Ben (AKA Boomer) was Jen's first true love. He possessed powerful teleportation abilities, but had a short attention span and an even shorter fuse. The two of them met during their time with the X-Men, but didn't admit their love until meeting up again a few years later. When Ben disappeared in a battle with Magneto the worst was assumed. In reality Ben was on a remote island training with a strange woman by the name of Eureka. Months later, when Eureka deemed him ready, he returned and the two young heroes lived together happily. Shortly after, however, HYDRA captured and brainwashed them into service. Ben was killed on a mission where they were ordered to kill Jen's past mentor, the mysterious Mr. W.

Mr. W
The elusive self-proclaimed mentor of heroes, Mr. W has helped Jen through many rough patches. A brilliant man with a powerful mind he is an amazing fighter and an even better teacher. Not much is known about him beyond hi abilities and the first letter of his surname. Mr. W appears to have deep pockets and extensive resources. For a while he acted as a father figure towards Jen...until he killed her boyfriend. Still, even with a more than rocky relationship, she knows that she can count on him though she won't dare admit it. It was assumed for a long time that he was a much older man, but turned out to be a younger man in person. He used a double while training Jen and when HYDRA had planned to assassinate him. When Jen met the real Mr. W she was quite surprised at the person behind the name. Working with Jen to fulfill her destiny with the Order of the Night by training her become one of the best fighters in the world, second to only himself, of course.

Lily Cutler
Lily is the daughter of a foreign diplomat and an actress. When her father was being threatened by a terrorist group it was ordered that Lily and her mother be taken to a safe house by separate transports. Lily was put under the protection of SHIELD agent Jennifer Michaels. At first Jen came off as being very cold and aloof, as she didn't want to become attached to the child. However, over the course of their journey she and Lily grew close and the girl talked about her troubled life at home. Lily had never told anyone about her home life before but she felt she could trust Jen. She was right. Jen, feeling the moral need to keep the girl safe, refused to let Lily go back to an abusing home. Lily now lives with Jen under the alias of Bronwyn Storm. There is also far more to Lily than meets the eye...

Jonathan Funez II
Born to a couple of youth, the child of a business man and a woman of royalty did not have a normal life.  He was trained to be an assassin until his young adulthood.  A company of women, money, and weapons of mass destruction, Jonathan Junior has handled a bit too much, when inheriting the facial features and few intellectual ideas from his beloved father.  Cracks in his personality await for the day, when the former assassin returns to his roots.  Until then, connections to other people in the super-human community include LightBright, whom he has bumped into during her "tour" of Funez Tower.  Due to their confrontation running deep into the days of Gods Watchful Eyes, the relationship between this two adversaries seems to grow with every meeting.

Significant Events and Alternate Earths

M-Day

Jen was one of the "lucky" 300 mutants to remain powered during the Decimation. After the finding out about the de-powering of thousands of mutants, Jen headed back to the X-Mansion to sort some things out and have some kind of refuge. Mostly she wanted to see who had retained their powers. She didn't stay long, not wanting to get caught up in the hype of it all. Rather she simply asked Scott Summers to look into something for her. Sadly, he found out that Benjamin Warrow had not be confirmed as one of the 198 on the official government list of powered mutants.

The Civil War

During the Civil War Jen remained neutral, to keep from muddying waters with the X-Men, but had strong Anti-Registration feelings. Supporting Captain America in her own small way she did most things possible to help the Anti-Reg heroes. Covertly of course. She was an informant for the Anti-Reg side and went code name Northern Light. Jen helped to guide many heroes who opposed registration to safe houses and protect their families and friends. Iron Man almost tracked down her operating base once, forcing her to drop off the radar and relocate.

Earth-295 (Age of Apocalypse)

On this Earth Jen was held responsible for Boomer's death and locked away for most of her life. She became hardened and for some reason looked up to Apocalypse as a great leader. After serving her long sentence Jen served under Apocalypse with undivided loyalty. It wasn't until soon-to-be Exile, Blink, set her straight. Seeing the error of her ways Jen soon discovered that she had not caused Boomer's death. Before she could form any kind of retaliation against Apocalypse she died saving a small child from a burning building.

Earth-928 (X-Men 2099)

In this reality Jen changed her name to Laura Dane and had a daughter with Deadpool. It was a short lived romance between the two and she eventually ended up marrying Peter Parker with whom she raised her daughter. By this time Jen and Peter had both retired from crime fighting. Ashleen Wilson spent time with X-Men as her mother had, but left this reality after a brief encounter with the Exiles. After her daughter left she and Peter had another child together, a boy who they named Ben. Unlike his sister Ben has displayed no mutant powers or interest in crime fighting.

Earth-1610 (Ultimate)

In the Ultimate Universe Jennifer Mitchel is an intern at Oscorp. She loves science and got extremely high grades in school. An explosion in the lab gave her the energy powers that made her a hero. However in this universe higher ups are always pulling Jen's strings. She was put on a watch list by Nick Fury and carefully observed by the Ultimates. In this reality her powers caused her extreme discomfort when used and she suffered a severe mental break down while in a S.H.E.I.L.D. hellicarrier. The hellicarrier went down and apparently no one survived.

Earth-12 (Jen's Thor Phase :P)

In this reality Jennifer was a normal human being, much like on Earth-1610. However when she nearly died in a hit and run the Asgardian Gods took pity on her and granted Jen another chance at life. She came back to Earth with no memories of her previous life and with the powers of a god. She used her powers to do good in the mortal world, taking after Thor. Jen was always welcomed into Asgarde with open arms, though she never really felt at home there. As " Lady Thor" (a name given to her by the media) Jennifer fought mostly monsters, but enjoyed beating humans too. With her destructive abilities Jen was put on a special team designed to work out problems involving the more dangerous criminals.
