Geoff Johns is returning to write a six issue mini-series focused on the Rogues getting revenge on Inertia for tricking them into killing Bart Allen. I am hoping that this is going to be as good or even better than the "Rogue War" arc of the Flash during Johns' regular run. To find out more there is an interview with Geoff Johns about it on Newsarama. This is Inferno keeping you up to date with Flash and Green Lantern news.

A Very Good Start to a Promising Mini

Gotham Underground is a very good opening to a story where Batman is undercover as his criminal alter-ego, Matches Malone. So in his absence, Robin, Nightwing, and Alfred must try to cope on their own.

This was a well written issue. The art was great. I love the way Riddler is drawn. He looks fantastic. The shadowing and inking was done well by the very talented Jack Purcell who will hopefully stay on board for the 8 issues left. The only thing that brings this issue down a little is how Bane is handled.

Overall though a fantastic issue.

FANTASTIC WRITING!

Geoff Johns proves why is he is one of the best writers for DC at the moment. This issue is not large in action but it really explores why Hal Jordan does what he does and feels how he feels. It shows that he's always had a fondness of flying despite his mother's spite. It shows different generations of going for a night flight in his jet. Once with his dad, once with his girlfriend, and now with fellow GL, Kyle Rayner. The writing is very descriptive and well thought up. The only problem is that it is boring at times. But that's a minor issue.

This issue is a battle between Hal Jordan and two Manhunters. But when his ring starts to run out of power he discovers that he might have been in over his head with this challenge. This was a well written issue with great art. The fight was well staged at an air base. Hal's discovery of Abin Sur's ship is foreshadow to future events. And the fate of one of the Manhunters is touching. The cliffhanger with the Grandmaster of the Manhunters was mysterious. This issue is the most action packed of the "No Fear" arc and is an awesome conclusion!

Retelling and reimagining the reason why Dick Grayson and Bruce have an argument that leads Dick to drop the mantle of the Boy Wonder. This was a well thought up issue with a decent fight with the shapeshifting rogue, Clayface. The art was pretty good but it could have been better. I loved Robin's suit and the new one was cool. The writing was excellent. Alfred's feelings when Bruce threw Dick out of the batcave was spot on perfection. Bruce was in a very bad mood and its always fun to see Batman in a bad mood. A pretty good issue but it had its ups and downs.

This was a better issue than the first part of Nightwing Year One. Dick goes to Metropolis to ask The Last Son of Krypton for some advice on being a hero. Supes teaches Dick some baluable lessons including following your own path to become a hero. Dick realizes that he was never taught any valuable moral lessons by Bruce other than do the job right. Superman takes him to the Fortress of Solitude to show him what you can get if you work hard enough. Contrary to the cover, Dick is never in the Robin suit in this issue. A good issue.

A World Without a Flash!

After Wally West vanishes into the Speed Force never to be seen again, it's up to Impulse, Jesse Quick, Linda Park, Max Mercury, and Jay Garrick to stop the villainous Kobra from achieving his evil goals. This issue is fantastic and its great to see an issue from Linda's point of view. The art of the issue is fantastic especially the last few scenes towards the end of the issue. There are guest appearances by Batman and Robin, Superman, Green Lantern, Steel, and Hawkman as they fight Kobras armies globally. This is a great read and I recommend it to ANYONE!

With these words Batman sets fire to the Superman museum. This is the second part in the fantastic three part story of Red Son. Superman is in his forties and has become much more involved in politics than he was in the first issue. He has done such a good job at "fixing" things that the legendary yet reinvented Dark Knight leaps into action. This part reintroduces the child Pyotr mentioned in the first part as a grown man and now a freedom fighter determined to deplete the Comrade of Steel's reign of darkness. This is ever more superior than the first issue. Batman is a very interesting rebel and his fight with Superman is short but powerful. Showing both point of views of the conflict. Lex is becoming more and more evil and Lois is becoming more and more desperate to get away from him. It's Last Son of Krypton vs. The World's Greatest Dectective in this smash hit issue!

A Communist Superman=Bad News

This was a fantastic read with great looks at what could have been. What if Kal-El's ship had crash landed 12 hours later than it did and landed in Soviet Union Russia? Well this book tells you what! It shows characters in new lights. Superman is a communist who still fights to protect the planet but is pressured by Joseph Stalin to become leader of the Soviet Union. Lois Lane is Lois Luthor and Lex is a scientist working for Star Labs. He thinks that if Superman was an American they could have been friends. How wrong he was. This is a great story filled with action, drama, and treachery. See Superman in a new light and buy Superman: Red Son. PLUS: An alternate Batman origin.

This book was ALRIGHT. I wasn't anything special that's for sure. The major problem I had with this book was how they handled the characters. The Challengers did not even interact with the citizens of this vampire world. Jason and Kyle spent the whole issue bickering as usual. And the end was so pointless! The Challengers go there. They realize Ray isn't there then they leave and let Dick Grayson be turned into a vampire. Not that good of an issue. Check out the issue after this, Gotham by Gaslight if you want to see how good The Search for Ray Pamer can be!

Johns has compared his Green Lantern books with the original Star Wars starting with A New Hope as Rebirth and Empire Strikes Back as the Sinestro Corps War. And that's exactly what he delivered. In my opinion, Empire Strikes Back is the best of the Star Wars saga and the Sinestro Corps is one of the greatest Green Lantern stories EVER! This issue concludes the arc and gives every major character of the arc a highlight. It wraps it all up very nicely and sets everything up for the next upcoming Green Lantern arc, The Blackest Night! Green Lantern is back to being one of the best comics out there thanks to some fantastic writing and artwork!
