Now that I'm older, it feels weird to see heroes relive their lives in a new version. Sometimes its better. Sometimes its worse. In either case it is inevitable.
In order to keep continuity, major publishers resort to splitting their universe into multiple universes so as not to undo all the history of a particular character.
These past few years have also seen the splintering of the universe into imprints where characters can live stories outside of their "normal" continuum.
...which brings about the concept of writing stories about the CHARACTER versus the IDEA.
