  • Grim replied to the topic Goku vs. Flash
Goku is as fast if not faster than the flash.  and even if he wasnt as fast, he is still way stronger and way too tough for Flash to really hurt. GOku is too dense for Flash to vibrate through (that's the standard argument for every non-magic character who can withstand massive amounts of punishment, that their molecular structure is much denser than everyone else).  also note that the toughest ...

When has Goku been beaten?. like really, completely beaten? down for the count, not a chance in hell destroyed?  GOKU CAN DESTROY A PLANET! WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING IT!  Superman has to  punch the damn thing for a few minutes to do that, but Goku could destroy a good chunk of a planet just by powering up, and the rest would be gone with an attack or two. i hate people trying ...

the Teen Titans out power everyone on the DA except Sentry, Noh-Varr, and Ares. that would be the fight.    most of the DA would be dispatched rather quickly, becuse almost all of DC's heroes are trained to end fights. So the real problem would be taking out those 3 before the others get back in the fight. becuase while the TT have the power to take all of those ...

I was made a second Grim Reaper. Bestowed upon me where the abilities to do a job i would never have to do. I was more than a man. I was augmented with divinity.
But i was also given a set of rules to follow. See, the opportunity i received came from a loophole in the rules of the "Divine Conflict" these people where fighting. I came back because the other guys, the devils, the "Bad Guys" broke the rules. But i was drafted into their war the second i said yes.
There is a list of people. These people are important, balance altering people. Hitler was on this list. Ben Franklin was on this list. King Arthur. Merlin. Hercules. Joan of Ark. Bruce Lee. Charles Manson. Louis Armstrong. John Kennedy. Stalin.Peter Pan. Brad Pitt. Bob Kane.Stan Lee.  All on the list. I was on the list. Others are on this list. It never ends.
The people on this list cannot be harmed. We cannot kill them, or hurt them physically. We are not allowed to make any extreme impacts on their lives. They can only be swayed, and their alignment drastically effects the balance.
But the low-life scum who killed me where not on that list, They where fair game. And after i made them pay, i decided to help others. Not as some dark avenger. Not as some Punisher of the wicked. As a man.  a man with an opportunity. A man who knows that no matter how empty and broken and lifeless his heart may be, he still has one.

My name is Sevan. Now, Sevan Grim. and i'm looking out for you.

So the end of Spiderman 3 see's Venom disappear and Sandman slightly redeemed. And the big talk now is about Spidey 4, the number of villains, and if venom will have his own move.
 ...but what about Harry Osborn?
At the end of 3, Harry had forgiven Peter for killing his dad, and worked alongside him in the final fight. So where does he go from here?
If 4 drops him from existence,or just glances over the fact  that he has Goblin serum coursing through his veins and a bunch of high tech weaponry in his closet... well  thats just gonna be a slap in the face. So where will he be? what will he be doing?
when you think about it, the obvious first though is as "hero support". But does that feel right?
and the second thought is he'll just walk away. from the super aspect and maybe even from New York and his friends. But Doesn't that seem like a puss way out? And wouldn't a good friend hop right back into action as soon as Spidey was in any type of danger?
I know at some point in the comics, Harry was either dead or assumed dead. Will this movie lead to that?
If they are going to keep moving forward with this franchise, i want them to put more though into each movie than the last (otherwise well have "Spider-man Forever" in no time) , otherwise there really is no point.

did you read the old Superboy stories? Con (then Carl) was dating news reporters and Knockout's when he was obviously still around 14.

ok, its one thing to change the order in which things happen in a characters life. You wanna take the 90% acurate story of Batman vs. Mr. Freeze and put it before the Baman vs. Joker story of the same acuracy, fine. You wana make two characters meet the same way, but a little earlier in life, cool.
But when you change around character origions and powers, screw with personality types that MAKE THE CHARCTER, or add kids or arch enemies the hero never had, then we have a problem.
Did Superman really need to have a kid? did that kid really have that big of an impact on the movie? And whats the point of casting a major comedic actor for a major comedic character if your only gonna have him say 3 lines before you alter his very origin? might as well have just gotten Ray Park to Jump around a bit and give us some propper martial arts.
See, Iron Man changed very little, and then just jumped ahead in his story, leaving plenty of room to go back and revist anything that happened in the comics between times. batman took you places that you never thought about, but Batman obviously had to go through.  Hulk played petty true.
But then Superman takes us to a crap future that will never happen. X-men completely scatters the generation gaps. Wolverine jacks up the origin and a couple characters completely.
and why? becuase some dipshit in a suit decided that the material that made these multibillion dollar movies possible wasnt good enough as is, and that some joker who only  picked up a comic becuase he was payed to should "FIX" the stories.
 ....such hate.

the second issue of this story does nothing but enhance the first. The art work continues to rock, as the does the story. Kirkman has a way of bringing strange and hilarious characters into his stories thats just amazing, and he does that a couple of times over this issue.
People said in the first issues reviews over and over that this isnt an origional concept. and i can see what they mean. As you read through Haunt, you feel a little Spiderman, a little Spawn, an little Punsiher, and a little Creeper. But its all the best parts of those characters, wraped around a bunch of great character and allot of potential.

if you where turned off by issue number one for any reason, give it one more go with this issue. Becuase trust me, you dont want to be the guy who's trying to catch up in TPB's before he starts picking this sucker up on the shelves. I did that with Invincible, and boy did that suck.....

Im a little upset with myself for going to Disneyland Last week instead of picking this sucker up before it was gone. Luckily, there was a second printing, and thats what i got.
I admit, there is a point in the middle of the story that seems like it waas too quick a transition. If your like me, you skipped back and read the previous coupleof pages again to see if you just missed something, and then it clicks that the event in question was skipped over for whatever reason. Its still obvious what happened, but you get a little turned around by the story skipping ahead a week without a caption.
.... ok, now that i got that out of the way, you can soak in my buckets of creamy enjoyment that this comic exist!
Haunt does not LOOK like an origional idea in the slightest. Its been said repeatedly in other reviews that it looks much like a cross between Spawn and Symbiote Spiderman. But like most good stories, you cant judge this one by its coverart.
the things to look for in this story arent the fights and powers, its the character interactions. You have 2 brothers who cant be more unalike. daniel, a preacher who apparently has weekly apointments with a hooker and hates his life, and Kurt, a killer secret agent who cares a great deal for everyone in his life. Daniel HATES his brother. with a passion. And apparently, he hates Kurt's wife too, like maybe they dated once or she cheated on him with his brother. Something is tehre, and its intense too. And now, as haunt, Daniel is undoubtely going to have to deal with killers and loved ones from Kurt's life.

This is the stuff great tv shows are made of. Great thanks to Robert Kirkman and McFarlane for the idea. and You have just got to love the fantastic art that comes from a Ryan Ottley/McFarlane collaboration.
This was a good first issue, but trust me... it gets better. I already have issue 2 in my hands, and after over a year  of loving Invincible and Tech Jacket  (both Kirkman creations), and seeing the massive amount of time Spawn has been around, and already having read and loved issue 2, i can just tell that this is going to be a great book to read!

Muppets. You have got to love them. They've retold dozens of stories with their Muppety twists, and most of them have been phenominal.
Muppet Robin Hood is no exception.
Asa lifelong Muppet fan, my opinion may be a bit biased, but i'dlike to think its not becuase i hated Muppets in Space and that Muppet Cinderella.
But their telling of Robin Hood is back on the old "good" track.
Only a couple of minor issues with this comic. The choice for Fozzy Bear to be Friar Tuck  works, but as a fan i would have rather seen him by Robin's side as Little John. And the idea for the Crusades was eh.
But all in all, a great read. If you like Robin Hood, Muppets, or retellings of old classics, pick it up.

its always nice to see something new in your comics...unless it snot. But luckily, nice was the feeling i got as i finished the five part "The Bat and The Beast" story.
The "Beast" in question is the newly introduced Bear, loyal enforcer to the Russian mob who's humanity is in question. Is he a wild beast? or a misunderstood man in a monsters body?
Batman travels to Moscow in an attempt to shut down a new Gotham power before he gets there. But the Tsar has the Bear on his side. Much like Batman, the Bear is a myth amongst the criminal underground, but batman soon discovers that the Bear is just as real as he is.
The coolest parts of this arc are both the Bear meets batman moments, and the overall activity of Batman OUTSIDE of Gotham, and the US for that matter. I could delve deeper into what i mean, but its better if you read it yourself.
Hopefully this isnt the last we have seen of the Bear.

Not the biggest Flash fan. Nor am i that well versed on the Blackhawks and that era. But this story is... its just good.

My favorite Flash stories have always been the ones where either he had to be in 5 places at once, or when he couldn't use his powers at all.
This story puts Barry Allen in the past, having to wait out a broken leg before he can run his way back to the future (hehe...). While there, Flash meets the Black Hawks, and subsequently gets drafted into a war.
Its interesting to see Barry in this setting, as he's forced to make some decisions regarding war ethics. His choices may startle you.
the comic ends with a small tribute to fallen war heroes, which is always nice to see. A must have for fans of Silver age characters.

Ok, if you know anything about the first two parts of this mini, you can pretty much guess the way this third installment rolesout.
I've gotta say, so far both " Blackest Night Batman" and " BN Superman" have both done the same thing: brought some interesting thoughts and awesome confrontations to the table... and then kinda petered out at the finish. It seems like they where written to come out BEFORE the main Blackest Night story started, and not halfway through. The stories, while delving epically deeper into the icons their about, fail to give us any new insight or leeway into the BN confrontation itself.
Weather or not this will carry on into any of the future BN Tie-in's remains to be seen.
So while these tie-in's do absolutely nothing for the overall big picture of the Blackest Night story, they are great reads and fantastic works overall. Fantastic and Misleading.
and if youre one (like myself) who loves a certain Super dog who never gets enough time to shine, get ready for an epic couple of pages of KRYPTO vs. (a) Black Lantern!

Simply fantastic. I swear there is something in here for everyone. This DCU HALLOWEEN SPECIAL really is the best yet.
For the nostalgic, there is a nice Bruce Wayne/ Barbara Gordon/ Dick Grayson era story.  Guy Gardner Pulls through in a GL Halloween Bash on OA (with a bit of heartstring pulling ta boot).  A quicky from the Creeper. A story about The Outsiders filling in for Batman. The new Robin delivers some of his own brand of justice. the Old Robin takes a respectful walk down memory lane on Dia De Muertos. Ravager is hot. Mirror Master (in his own misguided way) actually saves some lives from Bloody Mary. BeastBoy cant catch a break. A horror movie girls night  in (and out i guess) for the ladies of the Teen Titans and Wonder Woman. Clark and Lois working to instill the holiday fear-it into some tough teens. And probably the coolest looking and feeling story  involves the Flash and Superman in, you guessed it, a RACE! (though the ending is guaranteed to make you smile.

Cool hero costumes on kids, awesome stories about the heroes and villains we love. Creepy and Campy. Sweet and scary. All rolled into six bucks of comic! Its worth every penny you guys!

after oh so long, Tim Drake and Connor Kent are together again.
As Conner continues to struggle with is identity, he decides that he needs to get a bit more proactive about getting in touch with his best friend Tm drake, who he hasn't talked to extensively since he "came back" . when he finaly tracks Tim down, the two each confide in each other what they have refused to tell everyone else.
While most of the action is headed up by Krypto the super dog, this story isnt about the action. Its about two once confident heroes trying to re-discover themselves.
If your a fan of the Conner/Tim relationship, you can look forward to another one of those heartfelt conversations that Superman and batman always avoid ACTUALLY having.
Conner and Tim are back again... and it just feels right.
