My Real Life
<p>Hi! I'd actually rather go by Golem. I'm 13, New Yorker, and an avid comic fan. I've poured over every comic site I could find, and my trivia in DC and Marvel is amazing to an alarming degree. My favorite comics are Superman, Cable and Deadpool, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Brave and the Bold. Favorite miniseries of the year: Mystic Arcana. Ian McNee's back stories are a highlight of artistry. <div style="width:500px;"> <center> <a href="/quiz/comic-vine-job-fair/4/"><img src="http://media.comicvine.com/media/vine/img/layout/join-team-small.png" style="margin-bottom:15px;"></a><br/> Take the <a href="http://www.comicvine.com/quiz/comic-vine-job-fair/4/">Comic Vine Job Fair</a> quiz at <a href="http://www.comicvine.com">comicvine.com</a>, the world's largest comic book encyclopedia. </center> <br/> <br/> <table> <tr> <td colspan=3 style="background:#FFF; color:#000; padding:10px;border:solid 3px #000;"> <a href="http://www.comicvine.com/hellfire-club/65-13357/"><img src="http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/376/79310-132282-hellfire-club_medium.jpg" style="float:left; padding:4px; background:#FFF; border:solid 1px #CCC; margin-top:0px; margin-bottom:0px;"></a><br/> <div style="margin-left:175px;"> <div style="width:50px; font-size:14px; font-weight:bold; padding:3px; border:solid 2px #000; background:#111; color:#FFF; text-align:center;float:right;margin-left:20px;">-5.6%</div> <a href="http://www.comicvine.com/hellfire-club/65-13357/" style="font-size:18px; font-weight:bold;color:black;">Hellfire Club</a><br/> The Hellfire Club is for you. My Super Life

As Golem, Brandon became the hero of New York. He made friends- Soultail, a female alchemist, Kresnik, a russian cryokinetic, and Waffles, a psychotic man in peak physical condition. They formed the Sentinels of Justice, a supreme super team. Ghost, his opposite number, also revealed himself. He had control over darkness, using it to bend others to his will and create despair. Ghost was also busy at work making allies. He gathered up his own team- Ra, a pyro who foresees the end of days, Darktail, the evil counterpart to Soultail, Shadow, a girl with powers like his own, and Typhus, an aquatic beast who has been tamed by Ghost. They formed the Disciples of Pain, and wreaked havoc in the city. Now, Golem is charged with leading a superteam, protecting the city, meeting girls, and making it home before his curfew.

Soon after beginning his career, Golem went to the Comicvine, a haven for heroes and villains. He got along well enough with all of the members, but his forays into role playing proved nasty. Their true derision for him was revealed, and that turned him to the dark side. The trauma caused a spark inside him to release massive energy, incinerating his foe Ghost during a climactic battle. Now, he fights for destruction, decimation, and his own survival. He trained with many spiritual heroes for years, honing his powers until he reached a pinnicle. He realized why Ghost had always defeated him: shadowsteel. It was an alchemical substance, and it dampened his power, so he reversed the power of it. He gained the abilities of channeling energy too, both physical and emotional. He could control light, sound, heat, strength, confidence, and emotions. He also learned some forms of magic from Khaolia monks, who he massacred, save one. He made him a total expert, in return being slaughtered. No allies remained, only enemies... so he had one last ace up his sleeve. An old acquaintance of his at Aperture-Mesa gave him the Zero-Point Energy Field Portal Device, which combined the best of the portal gun and gravity gun. With this new arsenal, Golem was prepared for the doom that he would bring...

or so they thought. Golem was only inches away from his old enemies now, and he demolished them. Typhus became a withered husk without water, Ra was dispatched with an infinite gravity loop of portals, and Shadow... that's just gruesome. Now, back as a hero, Golem vows to protect the Vine at all costs.

This post relates to: How many comics do you read a month?

Well... it amounts to about $120 each month, so... I think about 40?

Wow... I should get a job...

This is perhaps the greatest issue of any Superman I have ever read. Where to begin? Grant Morrison is a masterful writer, and here he really shines. He captures every character perfectly, and I just kept wishing the issue wouldn't end. I really hope he stays on the team. Frank Quitely is outstanding as a penciler, with each line screaming with beauty and originality. The team weaves a story with Silver Age charm, but modern day awesomeness. Every moment of this story screams amazing, and I sincerely am putting this on the top of my pull list for months to some. Cudos to both men for proving that DC has quality comics.

Hey Golem... David Sexton here. I am a writer for MARVEL. I came up with the idea for the MYSTIC ARCANA series and write the Ian McNee stories. Also wrote THE MARVEL TAROT (which features a profile on THE GOLEM...coincidence??? hmmm.) Just wanted to say thanks for reading the books and thanks for making it your mini of the year. Keep the peace! David S.<br />
