This post relates to: Abomination, Hulk

Tim Roth (of Resevoir Dogs and War Zone fame) has been cast as Emil Blonsky, the alter-ego of Abomination. For those non-Hulk fans out there here's a short bio of the character from the Comic Vine Abomination page.

Emil Blonsky was a communist spy trying to discover the secret of Dr. Banner's work on Gamma Radiation. He exposed himself to gamma radiation and turn into a monstrous abomination.

An alien called the Stranger by many people decided that people weren’t responsible enough to handle their weapons and bombs. The Hulk was one of the many who was put under control of the stranger and the hulk was intended to destroy humanity. But Bruce (the hulk) in his human form tried to kill himself to stop himself doing any damage to the world under the stranger’s control. He killed himself by using lots of gamma radiation, which would kill him. But what Banner didn’t know was that Blonsky was taking pictures of the gamma radiation equipment and was still in the room. When banner was carried out by security Blonsky stood in front of the machine and activated it, Blonsky had some unknown genetic factor in his body that saved him from being killed by a great dose of gamma radiation. The huge amount of radiation had mutated him transforming him into Abomination.

This is hella good news for the new Hulk movie as Tim Roth is a fabulous actor (especially in villain roles) and will pair up nicely with the equally intense Edward Norton. In fact, Roth's cast now has me actually excited for this flick. It's seems like they're really trying to go for a do-over with the series and stear it towards a more serious tone.
