Lil' G-Man did give it a somewhat mediocre review.  I just think they might be a little limited since it basically takes place between 1 and 2.  I can't really see them using any of the big Marvel Zombies we've already seen.

My Real Life

My Super Life

G-Man's background is covered in mystery, conspiracy, and several conflicting reports. It is believed that part of this is due to a psionic or telepathic ability on G-Man's part.

When several high ranking government officials in different branches realized that they may have seen this individual at different "incidents," they formed a special sub-committee, despite their differences, to investigate who this man was. One official said he wanted to know "...where the heck was this man from?" Thus he became know as the G-Man from Heck. This group became known as Project G.

One of the members, Special Agent Thaddeus Conrad seemed to be the most interested in the mystery. He could vaguely recall, early in his career, seeing this man in action during the assassination of a U.S. ally. He just couldn't place his finger on the specifics.

Project G seemed to go years without discovering too much information. Upon further investigation, some even questioned if the G-Man's activities stretched further back than they realized. Using their high level of clearance, it was discovered that certain joint documents they possessed appeared to have been altered in different ways. There were even some photos that appeared to have been altered. In some, a man matching G-Man's description could be seen standing in the background. In interviewing former agents at the scene of these incidents, some recalled a man similar after he was brought up but could not recall any specific details. Some claimed this man seemed to posses super strength. A couple others swore they saw green rays fire from his eyes. This reinforced the belief that some sort of mind-manipulation was at work.

Project G continued its investigation now that it seemed to have gained some ground. Agent Conrad eventually came to be seen as the one in charge of the group. He finally decided to undergo deep hypnosis to attempt to unlock his cloudy memories of his first encounter with G-Man. After a half dozen sessions, Agent Conrad didn't seem to be getting any closer.

A few more years went by with nothing more than fairy tales told by questionable sources, Project G was soon to be shut down. The funding just didn't seem feasible. Conrad refused to give up the search. One night while pouring over several classified documents he "borrowed," some censored by those with higher clearance, he seemingly fell asleep. During his sleep, Conrad dreamt the G-Man paid him a visit. His words to Conrad were, "What I do is bigger than you or your government. There's a bigger picture that you simply cannot comprehend. There are some things you may consider to be tragedies that must happen and others that must be prevented." Conrad awoke with a bloody nose and a killer headache. What he discovered was, one of the documents that had previously been blacked out now revealed one name that couldn't be seen before. The name was Dr. Phinius Almeny.

Conrad spent the next two years trying to locate Dr. Almeny. He eventually located him locked in an asylum under a different name. Conrad went to see him. Almeny was deeply sedated and would go back and forth between topics of conversations. Conrad wasn't sure what he could believed. Almeny spoke of an alien capture and genetic manipulation along with a recipe for a kiwi lime pie. Conrad was about to give up when he decided to mention the G-Man. At this, Almeny turned pale white. At almost the exact moment, the power to the asylum went out and chaos erupted. Conrad lost track of Almeny and then he heard him scream. The power returned and Almeny was found cringing in the corner mumbling, "He's here...Project G-Ro.." over and over again. He then went into convulsions and soon passed away. Conrad was at a loss and had no clue what "Jeerow" was. As the doctors attended to Almeny, Conrad looked out the window. At the edge of the grounds, he thought he could see G-Man standing there looking at him with a sad look on his face.

In an instant, right before his eyes, he was gone.

What Did 'They' Do?

Guess we'll be finding out soon.  Poor Magneto.  He's always such a sad, bitter and angry guy.  Seems it doesn't matter which universe he's in, things just don't go his way.  Is he just fated to live this life or does he simply go out looking and asking for trouble?

As far as the previous Ultimatum teaser:

I still wonder, is the tomb symbolic since the Ultimate Universe began in 2000 or is it supposed to be for an actual character?  I can't really think of any eight year olds running around the Ultimate Universe.

I'm not sure how I feel about another big event.  Yeah it'll be contained to the Ultimate titles but honestly, I'm getting a little burnt out on them.  Yes it's great to have these big epic stories but I miss the days when a story could actually be self-contained in a single issue.  Now we have to have these huge stories written by a team of writers.  I think what makes it worse is the inconsistency with the art.  Different artists don't always draw the characters the same way or even in the same costumes.  Hopefully there will be some good coordination with this.  I know it's been in the planning stages for some time now.

My last question about this picture is who's hammer is that?  If this is in the Ultimate Universe, Thor's hammer is different.  Maybe Magneto just
Ultimate Mjolnir
a hankering to do some hammering.

Plo Koon and some Clones fight off General Grievous' attack

Lots of chances to check this out

I know in other places, there is some excitement over this.  I haven't heard too much talk around here.  The show starts tonight.  If you miss it or don't have Cartoon Network, you have other options.  There's no excuse not to see this.

Beginning Saturday, Oct. 4, each week's new episode will be available at the iTunes Store (www.iTunes.com) for $1.99 an episode, or $39.99 for a season pass to all 22 episodes.  Both Ambush and Rising Malevolence, which air tonight, will be available starting Saturday.  This pattern will continue throughout the season, with each new episode available at the iTunes Store the day after its Cartoon Network premiere.

Additionally, a half-hour, behind-the-scenes special about the making of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS will be available on the iTunes store as a free download, beginning today.

At the official Star Wars site, www.starwars.com, STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS will be available for online, streamed viewing beginning Friday, Oct. 10.  The episodes will also be seen at www.cartoonnetwork.com.  Streaming episodes will be available exactly one week after airing on Cartoon Network.  At any given time, two episodes will be available for free, online viewing.

And there's even more original, digital content for CLONE WARS viewers.

Starting with Rising Malevolence, the series' second episode, StarWars.com will offer a regular podcast, one that combines news and information with the creativity of Lucasfilm. It will be available both at StarWars.com and at iTunes.  At both locations, the podcast will be free for fans who want to learn more about the secrets of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS.

Moreover, StarWars.com will offer an exclusive, entirely new online graphic novel, with new insights into the CLONE WARS galaxy.  Written by Star Wars expert Pablo Hidalgo, its weekly installments will feature four different artists, each of whom illustrates a new chapter.  Each of the 23 chapters will serve as an introduction to that week's episode of STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS.

I'm not sure what to say

I'm not a hardcore Dragonball fan but I'm also not a hater of it.  I've watched it before.  I enjoyed it.  I just couldn't commit to the daily viewing schedule.  You miss a few episodes then you have no idea what happened.

I am hoping this comes out well.  Despite the fact that I don't have a huge desire to watch a live action version, I also don't want it to fail.  I've tried to avoid the reports coming from this as most haven't sounded too positive.  I'm not sure if it's really the case or just that people feel it's cool not to like it.  I guess I can forgive the characters not looking exactly like their animated counterparts do (but really, shouldn't Piccolo be green?).  You can't make them look exactly the same.  It might really look silly 'in real life.'  Guess we'll find out soon.

Update:  Hmmm...seems like the trailer has been pulled.  Weird.  I thought it was an official release.  Maybe they're going to re-work it?  Oh well, I'm sure the trailer will be out in theatres soon.  So for now, enjoy a pic of Piccolo:
Guess it really isn't easy being green...

New Comic from a New Publisher

Even though I read way too many comics to keep up with, I always enjoy a new series in a new universe.  It can be refreshing to read a series that doesn't have years of history to try to sort out.  Zero-G also offers a story that seems free of super-powered individuals.  That means it could happen in the 'real world.'

The story begins with the discovery of an asteroid that will be passing by Earth.  The scientist discover that there is an opportunity to mine for precious minerals that could drastic changes on Earth.  Soon other nations of the world race to lay a claim and achieve a fortune.  It seems like it could be an average space story but begins to take a slight twist towards the end.  Being a miniseries and there being a set time frame the crew has in space, there is some suspense.  It seems that no one on the crew is relatively safe.  Any one of them could be meeting their end on the asteroid.

For a first comic from Spacedog and creator Alex Zamm, it has potential.  To be honest, I did feel there were a couple of cliche moments.  Probably the biggest for me was the 'beautiful' female characters (one of the crew and main character Atom's ex).  Being that Zamm is a director/screenwriter, it's understandable.  It's the Hollywood thing to do.  While it's never over the top, the bottom line is sex sells.  No one really wants to read about ugly characters.  That being said, it's just a minor thing.

We are left with a pretty big cliffhanger moment at the end.  I think this issue is just barely opening the door to something really big.  There is obviously more to the asteroid that it seems.  I will be on board with the next issue to see what happens next.

I'm giving this issue a 3.5 out of 5.  I sat and debated about that for a bit.  It's a nice first effort.  I have a feeling I will enjoy the next issue more.  I like where this story could be going but was put off a little bit by a couple minor things.  I have a feeling this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Marz and Sejic have done it again

I was expecting something to do with Broken Trinity.  I'm enjoying that but it was nice to read an issue that focused more on Sara being a cop.  This is something I'd like to see more of.  I think the Special Cases Unit was a brilliant idea.  It gives a reason for a couple of New York police officers to be checking out weird cases all the time.

As can be seen on the cover, the main portion of the comic takes place in an Orthodox Jewish community.  Seeing this side of New York along with the racial tensions helps to give the comic that realistic feel that goes hand in hand with Sejic's art.  What starts out as a seemingly routine investigation is bound to take a turn for the weird.  Why else would Sara and Gleason be called in?

The tension is added to as Gretch, the noisy reporter continues to try to uncover Sara's secret.

Despite my liking the police side of Sara's life, we also don't see a lot of the Witchblade in action.  In that sense, this issue is setting things up for a big foe for the next issue.  Ron Marz continues to make the characters feel real.  Their conversations don't seem forced or cliche for a comic.  This continues to be a comic that I look forward to reading every month.

I'm giving this a 4 out of 5 only because it was a little light on the action and seeing Detective Gleason in the shower wasn't something I really needed to think about.

It seems like a lot of people liked the first issue.  It even won me over.  We were left a little surprised at Deadpool's willingness to help the Skrulls invade Earth.  But then, since he's a little off in the head, it wasn't too much of a surprise.  The question is, what will he do next.  Another question is, are the Skrulls pulling one over on Deadpool or is it the other way around?

One of Deadpool's strongest assets is that he is unpredictable.  That's what can help sell this comic.  We do get a brief re-cap of his origin in the first few pages.  I have to say I'm glad Daniel Way didn't go the cliche route and have it take up space in the first issue.   From the cover we get the impression that the Skrulls will use Deadpool's strengths as a killing machine to further their invasion.  That in itself is a scary thought.  An army of Deadpools.  Who could lead such an army?  I'll let you take a guess.

I enjoyed seeing Deadpool in his new role.  But how does this comic stack up?  Will this Secret Invasion tie-in change the outcome of the war?  Probably not.  It's not essential reading as far as the main story goes but as far as being entertaining, it's pretty much a must have.  Daniel Way continues to capture the essence of Deadpool's character.   Paco Medina's art captures the mayhem perfectly.  He has the right amount of detail mixed with the hilarity of Deadpool's world.

4.5! Woooo!
This volume is off to a good start.  Again it's not essential reading but it was highly entertaining and that's what a comic should be.  I had fun.  I'm going to up my rating a bit from last month and give this issue a 4.5 out of 5

Can Mike Deodato Make Me Like This Series?

I have a love/hate relationship with Wolverine.  He should be a great character but his overuse works against him.  The enigma of Logan's past helped to give him his popularity.  Now that he remembers everything, he seems to have lost some of his edge.  Wolverine: Origins sounded like it'd be the Wolverine comic to get because we'd finally be getting all the answers.  I have to admit that the way Steve Dillon drew eyes freaked me out a little bit.

I've managed to continue reading even though there have been many times I would ask myself why.  I haven't been able to figure out what the problem is.  I don't think it's because of Daniel Way.  The first two issues of Deadpool were great.  Way is responsible for giving us Daken.  I have to say I'm not a fan of Daken.  And then there's this Romulus dude.  It's almost too convenient that we have this major baddie guy that's been hiding behind the scenes all this time and is just now becoming more active.

Each month I continue to be torn whether or not I should just drop this title.

Enter Mike Deodato.  I love his art.  Rain Beredo's muted colors further captures the mood Daniel Way's script calls for.  Although when Deodato drew Wolverine's first encounter with the Hulk, he wasn't wearing the silly whisker mask.  Maybe he felt he needed to make an improvement.  He also remembers what most artist forget, Wolverine is not a tall guy.  Daken is seen to be clearly towering over Logan.  That's great.  Deodato also draws the Hulk so well.

This issue goes along to dropping some bombs about why Wolverine has been in certain places and how he caught Professor X's attention.  It's a ballsy move on Way's part, tweaking what little has already been established in Wolverine's history.  So I think I can say that I am finally getting interested again in Origins.  Hopefully the Daken/Romulus business will be resolved quickly.  This issue also leads into X-Men: Original Sin.  Yay.

I am a little intrigued by the small revelations we're getting.  It's not quite enough to keep me hooked.  The addition of Deodato is keeping me around.

Just like an average episode

The Simpsons comics are hit or miss at times.  Occasionally they'll have humorous moments and other times they fall below the average episode on tv.  What the comics have that the episodes don't is they have more room to play around.  They can be more ambitious.  It seems kind of silly since a cartoon can take on the same stories and not have to worry about a budget.

This issue focused more on Marge and her desire to skate.  There was a message (as most episodes have) where Marge had to make sure she didn't let Lisa down.

Blah.  Give me more of Homerbeing a goof.

When I first saw a preview for this, I didn't have a strong desire to actually read it.  I don't mind the Sentry.  I know there are some that really despise him (much like they despise Superman too).  The problem with the Sentry is he's too powerful and it's just hard to write the character without him finishing the fight within seconds (like he did with Carnage).

What we have here is a miniseries that goes back to the golden age.  I have to say it was a fun comic.  Jeff Parker and Paul Tobin manage to capture that old timey feel when comics were more innocent.  It was a different time.  Sentry's dog, Watchdog, seems to be a super powered Corgi.  One of the villains he fights is named "Cranio the man with the tri-level mind."  In the second story, Sentry goes up against the Mad Thinker and Tinkerer.  There's also a couple references to other Marvel characters.  I thought that was a nice touch to include others in the 'universe.'  The comic even contains an old-fashioned Bullpoint Bulletins.  I would love to see these more often.  I like getting a little bit of info on other things that are going on.  Including little summaries and comics coming out the next week is a smart marketing move too.

The writing was good and so was the art.  The question is, is this comic really necessary?  As I mentioned, it's a fun comic.  It doesn't look like it really intends to be more than that.  I don't think there's going to be any major ramifications in the Sentry's character coming out of this.  I think that could be the downfall of this comic.  Why should people pay for something that may be soon forgotten?

I'm giving this a 3.5 out of 5.  It's a solid comic but there's just so much out on the shelves each week that are competing for your money.  It could be a tough sell.  I will read the entire series.  Hopefully others will too.

I think I'm starting to get interested again

I think I've been open that I'm not the biggest Ghost Rider fan.  I like Johnny Blaze even less.  I've never been able to pinpoint the exact reason.  I did get caught up in the 90s craze and read most of Danny Ketch's Ghost Rider appearances.   I did like the first issue of this series but soon lost interest after a couple issues.  With the return of Dan Ketch, I thought it was time to check things out again.

The issue starts out showing us some nuns training kung fu style.  We also see Caretaker's granddaughter using those skills.  If she is to become an on-going character, it's good to see that she can hold her own in a confrontation.   It might have been brought up earlier but we also see that there is a big picture behind everything Ghost Rider related.  There are some dark secrets that Johnny hasn't been aware of.  I haven't decided if this is too cliche or the start of something interesting.  The concept of 'everything being tied together' has been used many times in the past.  In reading this issue, I have to say that I do like it.  Ghost Rider has always been a dude with a flaming skull on a bike.  Now there may be more to his mythos.  That's good.  I also wondered why they always rode a bike and why not a car.  It seems there may be a slight answer to that in this issue.

Dan Ketch
Jason Aaron did a good job with the writing.  Being honest, I have to say Tan Eng Huat's art doesn't really work for me.  Most of the character's faces make them look like they're in constant pain.  Dan also looks like he's either been through hell (no pun intended) or he has aged a bit since last I saw him.

I will be reading issue 28 when it comes out.  I do want to see where this is going.  I just wish the art was a little better.

Because of the art, I have to give this a 3.5 out of 5.  It is worth reading.

I'm a long time Moon Knight fan.  He's always suffered the fate of having his comic canceled.  It's nice to see that we are approaching two full years' worth of Moon Knight comics.  Charlie Huston did a great job bringing him back into the spotlight.

Where's the popcorn?
The problem now is everyone thinks Moon Knight is insane.  I suppose anyone willing to dress up and risk their lives must have some level of insanity in them.  It just feels like everyone is getting on his case lately.  Now we have the insane Thunderbolts gunning for him.  My first question is, does this story take place before or after Norman's mission to destroy Spider-Man in the current "New Ways to Die" story?  I suppose we can assume it's before since Mac is still in one piece as Venom.  Venom's dialogue is getting a little old.  It was a little humorous seeing the team sitting in their briefing room (which looked like a movie theatre) getting the lowdown on Moon Knight.

Moon Knight is now fighting on his own.  He's always had a close team to help in different areas.  What's good about this is it's a chance to reinvent himself, especially since he's renounced Khonshu.  Marc even develops a new...gadget to add to his arsenal.  It doesn't really fit in with what he's used in the past but is pretty cool.  He's not messing around.  At least Crawley is still in his corner.

It's kind of funny that Moon Knight isn't wearing his traditional costume since he's on the run yet somehow he's still getting the credit (or blame) for his actions.  Maybe this is just something we're supposed to overlook.  Despite this, Mike Benson has been doing a good job since he took over.   Mark Texeira's art is the same as usual.  Sometimes he delivers great images while other times things seem a little off.

I liked the issue.  I would've like the fight between Moon Knight and the Thunderbolts to last longer.  Regardless, it was a pretty sweet fight.

I'm reading this again after some time off

I used to really like Iron Man.  Civil War made it hard to like Iron Man.  Tony being in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D. seemed to take him out of the action.  Too many times he'd be standing around in his armor (looking silly with the helmet off).

Because of the Skrull attack, Tony needs to reinvent his armor.  The call is put out to War Machine to take his place to fight the Skrulls.  I'm not a huge War Machine fan but I do like him.  His armor's color scheme and heavy weapons makes him seem tougher.  I have always wondered why his armor and Tony's were different.  If War Machine has more fire-power, you'd think Tony would want more too.  If Tony's has more hidden or streamlined fire-power, you'd think he'd add the upgrades to Rhodey's armor too.

Tony, being the smart guy he is, did have a contingency plan in place.  He leaves a little something for Rhodey, which is pretty cool.

I've missed out on a little of Rhodey's past events.  I know he was with O.N.E. and then with the Initiative.  I have no idea what happened to his face.  We don't get an explanation here but it seems like it will be coming.

Overall a pretty good issue.  I'm borderline between a 3.5 and a 4.  I'll give it a 4 out of 5 just because Rhodey's so cool.  I'm glad this title will be morphing into War Machine: Weapon of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Can The Inhumans Stop the Skrulls?

Check out the beautiful cover by Stjepan Sejic.  Very nice.

Last issue we saw where Black Bolt has been.  Now we get to see the Inhumans standing up to the Skrulls.

The Inhumans have usually bored me.  I know they're a noble race but they just never really interested me much.  I could appreciate their place in the Marvel Universe and the fact that Black Bolt was important enough to be included in the Illuminati.  It was a big deal that he was replaced by a Skrull.  We hadn't heard much about it until now.

This issue gives us what we want to see.  We see the Inhumans kicking some major Skrull butt.  They seem to be doing a better job than the Earth-based heroes.  They do seem to have the power and skills to turn the tide of the invasion.

The battle still is not won as Black Bolt is still being held captive.  The Skrulls aren't just giving him a holiday.  They're out to discover the secrets of his power.  It's not a pretty sight.  There is also another Inhuman/Skrull reveal.

This issue has definitely picked up since the last issue. I'm now looking forward to issue #3.
