@el_lloron: Ah lol. Yeah I see the buzz for it online and it looks like it'll be the next breakout series. I wonder if they'll cross it with Runaways somehow. I got into that show too.
@lowlaville: You mean the story narrative? Because I still don't see it. The author is responsible for the story not for the cast. If you want to join, join. If you can't? Your bad.
That's just projecting.
It's your character that you tailored to your specifications just like the author made their story to their. The story should take precedence over the characters. Otherwise you're just shoehorning a bunch of nonsense which results in an incoherent mess.
Mind you, I am not saying that authors don't place restrictions on their stories. My point is that these restrictions aren't really restrictions as they are guidelines for you to see their perspective. It's not difficult to ask the other party if you could join in despite what the op says if you have a good angle. But forcing an interaction is never good in my opinion.
I mean technically you're both right. I don't know the context of things now (Months can be like years on CV time) but a great open RPG is usually wide reaching enough to envelope a good amount of people. But a writer should also be accountable for their decisions that led to not being able to join.
In the middle is me, who would break his continuity to get into an event sometimes. It really boils down to flexibility on both the person who made it as well as the writer potentially involved's part.
There isn't a thread for it to my knowledge but at this point the CVnU has gone on long enough for there to be a CVnU Nostalgia thread.
Nostalgia:
Archer Creed. The very first person to discover Amaranth's armor had a critical vulnerability to electricity that would come up again in dramatic fashion years later.
The Knightfalls. The original Batfamily of the CVnU. Quintus, Andres, Ellie and Cass. Lots and lots of great canon came out them and they were era defining.
I started off with Maximus as a 'founding' Knightfall but just couldn't make it work in my head. Took advantage of a glitch at the time to make him Maximus Newcastle.
I still don't know how people put up with me back in the day...I was a little 15/16-year old running around with a lot of big ideas and an ego to match. Wow that was a long time ago...
