When Ultimate Spider-man is good it's awesome, when it's bad it's still good. This was one awesome issue. Bendis has a knack for taking old plots that were dumb as heck and turning them into far better and well thought out stories. This tale of Peter and Aunt May finally having that long over-due talk was handled as realistic as you can get with a comic. Character interaction in this book feels real and the action rarely leaves you feeling like something is missing. We shall miss Bagley on but this was a great way to go out with a quiet bang.

They were making a point with this book. Many readers were wondering why they had to take Ghost Rider off his path (a boring path by the way, but I'll stick with the cross-over story arch) to come and fight the Hulk. I honestly believed we'd see a "Champions" reunion of some sort. What I got was Marvel making a point about the current storyline. While it took away from what was presently going on, the point was made well. Whose really the villain in this whole affair. The answer to that question is what take World War Hulk from just a mindless massive cross-over event to a story that's about something.

I'm middle of the road on this issue. First of all this stupidity with Fox's powers is driving me insane. Sometime trying to make something "realistic" can hurt a character when it's over done. The story was tense and it was an interesting look into the situation these "super-heroes" lifestyles can get them into. My problem was the fact that it was supposed to be character development. They developed Roy Harper but demote Vixen to a powerless quivering idiot. It's like she's there just to have the artist render her into the scene - and it's been like that sense issue one. DC wonders why some characters remain second stringers. They've spent year interpreting and reinterpreting Roy Harper. When it comes to Vixen she falls to too many types in too many ways. If she's that useless why is she in the J.L.A. in the first place? Is this the JLA equivalent to keeping the ugly girl as a friend so you look that much better?

Line of the month: "I don't want to hear you whisper, I want to hear you scream!" Moment of the month: Hulk holds the fallen body of Blackbolt up to show the world what he intends to do with it. Most desperate bad act of the month: Tony Stark tells the illegal heroes if they help they will be given amnesty - as long as they register. (Damn Skull.) Best time of the month: Tony Stark gets his metal plated butt kicked. What, you needed more then that? Okay, Marvel Universe about to get it's collective butts kicked. Nuff sed.
