Posted this blog before in anticipation of the film, and I stand by it now -- although I tried to give Anne Hathaway her props in this blog Anne Hathaway: I Should Be Catwoman!

I just felt Anne, though very lithe and good at playing innocent then switching into the thief and kicking the cane, has nothing cat-like about her. She is great in the fight scenes, and doesn't sink the film, but she is so focused on being taken seriously that they made her unlikeable with all the betrayals of Batman, theft of his dead mother's pearls, won't apologize OR promise to help when he returns to Gotham -- which makes him look like an idiot for giving her the identity purge chip. And nice touches like the cat ears mask -- that would seem like cheeky touches of a master criminal when worn by Olivia or previous Cats -- come off as "Who made her that?" The biggest problem is the KNOWING aspect of Catwoman. Like a cat whose eyes always suggest hidden depths within, the best Catwomen came off as knowing so much about their burglary business that Batman, the cops, they are amusements to be toyed with (yes, like a cat, don't interrupt...) or teased. And these Cats' sensuality is just another burglary tool, for escape, etc. Anne Hathaway just does not have these qualities. She was in commendable shape, really had a graceful gait in the earliest scenes, was a good fighter -- but was NOT CATWOMAN. Too much against type.

So I again present the case for Olivia -- do you agree?
