Incredible Hulk Vol 2 #228
Incredible Hulk Vol 2 #228

My Dad took us down to the comic store that used to be in the Pike Place Market here in Seattle. It was downstairs. I remember looking at them all and not knowing anything about them. At random I picked up the Incredible Hulk #228. I guess it was the cover that got me. A sci-fi looking lady smashing the Hulk through a wall- must be pretty cool. I still have it too.

Most of the comics my older brother and I got after that are no more. We would cut out the characters and glue them onto paper to make our own stories. Lot's of fun for us kids, but the end of those books.

My lady took me to see the new Hulk movie today for Father's Day. It's so dope to have a partner that cares about me that much!
In short - It was flippin' GREAT!
Of course they re-created the history of the Hulk again. That's cool. If I want the history from Jack Kirby and Stan Lee's original perspective, I read my comic books.
I was pleased that they assumed that the movie viewer was a little familiar with the Hulk. We get his creation in flashbacks. They also tied in a lot from various periods of the comic book Hulk's history, (ie Mr Blue and Mr Green correspondence, Betty dating the shrink while Banner's gone, etc.)
I also like the idea of a comic book based movie playing out like a comic book. No matter how it ends, there's room for another episode. They give us an unresolved Abomination, the making of the Leader, and a hint (not too subtle) of an Avengers movie.
I loved it and I'm ready for more!

I'm reading a few comics every month right now:

1. Hulk (hasn't been out every month, but they had King-Size Hulk instead)
2. Last Defenders (it's a mini series though)
3. Incredible Hercules
4. Marvel Adventures: Hulk (designed for kids but I like it!)
5. Usually a couple issues of Tales to Astonish in digital format (I started at the beginning of the Hulk and plan to catch up to the current issues.)

I'd like to read just the Incredible Hulk, but you know Marvel won't have it that way!
