Now, I honestly have no recollection of why I ever started this series in the first place but knowing me it was either because in adding 90% of the new comics to this site I personally added four of the five issues and when I add comics to this database I usually like to do a little research on them (the series released its final issue yesterday -- yes I know I'm a little behind) OR it was simply because of the sexy covers. Either way, I decided the comic was worth my time unlike many others and gave the first issue a try.

Now, needless to say, I came to love the story, and the art too is quite amazing if I do say so myself (though I doubt its many people's styles), call me different. Anyways, I have now finally read issue two and the series got one hundred times better, which is why I'm already crying that it was only a five issue mini...I can't see it ending that soon without being rushed but I'm trying to stay hopeful.

Now, this review may not be satisfactory for you if you were looking for spoilers but my main reason for reviewing this is to get it out there on the site, and hopefully allow at least one person to learn of the comic's existence. That and I haven't reviewed a comic in a while and I felt I needed too.

Anyways, if this isn't enough to encourage you to pick up this mini I will tell you what the series is about...

A girl makes a deal with Satan in a time of peril, but it causes an incident that she wishes to repair and now the only way she can is to make a second deal with him, what happens next...well, I won't know until I pick up issue three.

Okay, I plan on doing an official list of Vertigo covers as soon as I can get a hold on things (after Christmas) but I had to mention this cover, amazing, it really wants to make me read the comic. Not only is it one of the sexiest I've ever found, its freakin' hilarious, the poses, the facial expressions, the text (even if its not all in English), just a perfect combination to make the greatest cover of all time :P

LMFAO As an added note, I thought I'd mention LAMP uploaded it, why am I not surprised :P

Now that's what I'm talking about! I think this comic has pulled me in to the whole Watchmen thing, I'm not saying the series is good, but I think I've become a true Dr. Manhattan fanboy after this issue. Honestly though I did not find the whole newspaper guy very interesting or any of that, but all of the Manhattan stuff was good, and thankfully he was basically the whole issue. You learn a lot about him in this issue, from his powers, to his relationships, to his personality, to well his everything, you even get a little of his origin in Hollis Manson's journal. Just an all-round bunch of good stuff. Of course I'm worried Manhattan won't remain this cool seeing as he's obviously going to return to Earth, but I've got my fingers crossed.

Okay, I'm not going to lie, these are some quality comics, but I think all this hype is getting me expecting more than I'm getting, perhaps I've read too many good comics in my day for this to rise above them, I don't know. I just am getting so frustrated, feeling like the greatest thrill ride in the world just opened, and everyone has gone it already and now here I am, holding my ticket, sitting in that seat buckled in, but the ride just broke down. I am wondering if perhaps I have hyped this series up too much, maybe I'd think its amazing if I hadn't heard anything about it, and that it was the greatest or maybe its only good after you've finished it? I hope for the latter...

Wow. Okay, so perhaps today's comics may not be that great, but I know I can always trust Vertigo (especially old Vertigo) to have some good comics for me, and this is surely one of them. Yes, I admit I don't really fancy the art, but hey, this isn't one of those times where I take off stars because of it, with the story, the art worked just fine the way it was.

Okay, the comic opens with Tim frantically trying to figure out if Bill is truly his father, after the starling words Tamlin said to him, and after a while it becomes inevitable, even Bill himself supports the fact that he is not the father of Timothy Hunter, and that Tim's mother only married him because she was pregnant and needed to marry someone. Of course I liked it that all of this drove Timothy to such desperation that he decided to accept magic, something I thought would take a lot longer but am also pleased that it didn't, and he travels to Faerie.

In Faerie of course we see more of Tamlin and Titania's talking about the state of Faerie and although I do find it very interesting, it wasn't much of a step forward from last issue, more of a refresher, which I of course needed since its been a while.

Though the real story focuses around Tim's time in Faerie, he's a lot smarter this time, after what he learned in the original Books of Magic, Issue 3, an amazing read and he is not easily fooled. However, he does find himself prey to a mysterious creature that seems to enjoy killing people or something of the sort. Anyways, this villain is mighty interesting, and the bad art only adds to him actually looking cooler. Anyways, he eventually comes to make a bargain with Tim, that he will tell him the name of his father and himself, and in return, he will eat Timothy...an odd bargain to be struck, but I am SO on the edge of my seat...wanting to read more, Issue 3 here I come!

In my last review I said I was intrigued by Kara and wanted to see more of her, well, I got exactly that in this issue, apart from a couple pages of Elsa speaking, none of the other two girls even appeared, this was Kara Valentine to the max!

Okay, now the comic started off simply showing her on tour, a crazy tour, but things get interesting when one concert, the crowd begins to riot and Kara falls off the stage after watching a girl get raped and being struck in the head by a beer bottle. She of course is freaking out as a guy is telling his timid friend to rape Kara, seeing as he's always found pleasure in her Maxim pin-ups. The friend is suckered in but, hilarity, oh and gore, comes into play when Kara's stuffed cat seems to attack. Now I can't figure out if the cats were real or not, but they certainly slaughtered the rapist and his friend, making for an awesome scan!

Anyways, the bottom line is this seems to be horrible for Osiris' career and begins to cause legal problems when the mother of the kid that was pressured into trying to rape Kara decides to sue Osiris. That same kid comes to Kara in a dream and tells her to save his mother but she ignores him. Now, the funniest part of the issue comes in when Kara goes to seek out her mother and finds her sitting naked with her boyfriend, haha, it makes me think of Tarot as her mother thinks nothing is wrong, and that she is simply skyclad, of course Kara disagrees and leaves the tour.

But what I liked most was what happened next, well I mean I did love the comment about the man who recognized her on an airplane because of her bosoms, that really made me laugh, but, well actually, no that was my favorite part, but afterwards I did enjoy seeing her use her powers a second time...the shock of it all giving the woman she had gone to save (the mother of the first guy she murdered) got a seizure, a funny twist, and the ghost who had sent her now hated her because she was a witch, makes me think of the Crucible.

Anyways, I was very pleased with this story on Kara and am expecting something on Sook soon, so that we're up to speed on all three, don't know how I feel about that idea, Sook still doesn't interest me.

A very nice continuation of the series, nice development on Elsa's character though I was disappointed that Kara and Sook have remained quite obscure for the time being. Another thing though that I find interesting and likable about this series is that it is filled with flashbacks, a continuous flashback, explaining Elsa's past and origins, the thing that makes me most curious is that her father was young more than 50 years before her time and she only appears to be 16...I'm sure this was explained but I obviously missed it.

I'll start with Kara...okay, she's a sexy low-level musician, has a magic-loving mother, a rockstar boyfriend and a disbelief in magic...yep, that's about all I know so far, and I've had to pick it up in little bits here and there, reading between the lines and stuff. I really want to know more about her character but with these past two issues I've been getting nothing extremely interesting, this time she just got a dream about a dental museum of horrors, pretty lame at first until her mother explains its mystical meaning, that some event has occured elsewhere that will greatly impact her life...which means she'll hopefully get a lot more action soon.

As for Sook, haha, this issue was just hilarious in showing her, the boyfriend she got in a car accident last issue is now in the hospital in a wheelchair and she comes to visit, saying she will help make him happy. She than gets down her knees with her head between her legs and haha, everyone's reactions are hilarious, because in truth all she was doing was getting down to pray so that he would heal. Yeah, that was awesome, but personally I've yet to be very intrigued by Sook, in time that will hopefully change.

Now, before I get to Elsa, seeing as she was the focus of the issue, let me expand upon that flashback, it talks of the creation of Elsa, by expanding upon her father, Henry and the deeds of his past. It appears he was a magician of sorts, and he persuaded the rich that through his magicks he would help them, so they all attended his mystical ceremony only to have him standing before them naked and masturbating, haha! He explained it all to them, but of course, like me, they didn't really care for the explanation and just thought him a crackpot, makes me wonder how he eventually succeeds.

As for Elsa, well we learned a lot, and she seems really cool, oh and she's bisexual and apparently sex is the key to all her magic...so...wow...that's going to be...fun.

Originally I swore to myself I would never read this after reading Pania's review on it, but than someone told me if I wanted to get into it (to read about Madelyne Pryror's return) I should start here...and all I have to say is...why?

Okay, now this reaction of mine may be just because I'm not X-Man fan, of course than again I'm a huge X-Man fan, my second favorite character of all time, Mr. Sinister, is an X-character, and many other members of the cast are equally amazing, but this...wow...I don't know, it was horrible. I mean sure Magneto was cool, schooling the X-Men and all that, and the High Evolutionary is a rather cool guy...but the story itself was pathetic, and the cast, well, it happened to be made up of most of my least favorite X-Men (though I can't blame them for that).

So basically, I don't know if I should continue reading this series...I want to, just because I had intended to, and I already got a few more of the issues...but...this was such a huge disappointment, maybe I'll just stick to the classic X-Men story arcs...

Of course it was not the most spectacular issue I've ever read, but you can't expect as much from an opener, you can only expect that it gives you enough to keep you intrigued and desire to learn more, to see what else could be in store, and it most certainly has accomplished that. An introductory issue of sorts, this issue shows us the three girls that will become the Trinity, none of them no each other yet, and we know very little of two of them, but Elsa Grimston we get a very good look at her and I am honestly sitting on the edge of my seat, excited for more after reading her story, that came to an amazing cliffhanger.

I mean sure, not everyone would find the devil sitting in your kitchen on the moon an exciting event, but Lucifer is my all-time favorite comic book character so obviously I love it, and besides that, I plan on trying his special cocktail, the Morningstar as he calls it, when I'm of legal age, of course.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this issue yet, but you know what they say, "Better late, than never." Anyways, this is without a doubt one of my favorite comics within the series, if not my all-time favorite. This comic is the classic story of facing your fears, only to realize their not your fears but someone else's and that they are stronger than you, but choosing to stand up and fight them nonetheless, sacrificing yourself for someone you love. Yep, that's basically it, but, throw in the creature of Sleepy Hollow, the ever stunningly beautiful Tarot, a skeleton man, some fantastical guardians, an angry Raven Hex and you've got yourself a masterpiece. I loved this issue! Tarot fights the Headless Horsemen, her worst fear, but as her mother and boyfriend become threatened by their own fears she decides to take a stand, the Black Rose Coven at her back. She takes on the punishment that is due her sister and for it, lives are lost, including her own. Her mother and Jon take her to New Avalon, but Raven doesn't listen, she is merely angry at humanity...and all the while, Tarot is passing...

If you don't understand why I love this series, read this issue.

I would personally say Hour 15...but than again Destiny has control over you the whole time, so its doubtful you can choose when your finished spending 24 hours in John Dee's Hell. Anyways, as for my review on the issue, well there's not much to say without going into explicit detail or ruining the entire awesomeness of the issue, but I can tell you that after reading this comic, I think I just stared into space for about five minutes, in shock. After reading this, I got a taste of true insanity...and I didn't know how to react. But in time, I can look back at the issue and say that, it was a great read, mostly a fun read, if your in to hopeless tales of mortals condemned to be under the mercies of an insane man who just wants to play with them till the end of their miserable existences, which I of course am in to. But we can't forget the cliffhanger, a great conclusion to the issue...Dream's arrival at the scene. So all in all, I mostly just liked this as a one-shot issue, but won't recommend it...unless your sure you can appreciate this kind of stuff.

Yes! I loved this comic!! Amazing development, amazing art, amazing story!! Oh and probably one of the VERY few times I've ever enjoyed Batman's appearance in a comic. Yes, this one is beautiful. Truthfully, the main reason I loved this one so much was because of the never-ending burning of flesh, eating of faces, breaking of bones, tearing out of organs, and such other pleasures the Demon has to offer us, but at the same time the story really is going somewhere, with this new relationship Blood and the Demon have, it is extremely intriguing and I am excited to see how it plays out. However, let's stick to the crisis at hand, Batman kicking Etrigan in the face, it was almost hilarious, after all this slaughter and a rampage, the Demon is taken out by a kick to the face. Of course, I'm not counting him out yet, the next issue is where the real action will be and I'm putting my money on Etrigan.

Okay, this is really an improvement the last issue, some explanations, more action, more surprises, all good stuff. First off, we finally find out who Effrul is, or at least what he is, as well as get to see more of Lucifer's capabilities when he shows that it is in his power to raise from the dead all who he has slain, including Effrul whom he has toy with Garamas and Gyges. And Effrul is colossal, I mean a beast, it really goes to show Lucifer's power, seeing as he obviously had to slay him a first time, I think it'd be really cool to have an issue covering that confrontation.

Oh and about Beatrice, it was good to finally get her thing explained, and quite a good explanation it was, I was pleased. Other than that, I just loved Lucifer's attitude when he went to Heaven, as if no one could do anything about it, and when he was spiting his father, and Michael, some enjoyment there too, though this issue did remind me why I hate Michael so much, such a lame character.

Anyways, this duinin is AWESOME!! Whoever thought up the idea of such a concept is a genius and I would like to personally thank them for coming up with it, I hope for some cool stuff with the thing though, a confrontation with Lucifer...

Hmm, a tale from millenia ago, told by a bitter lover...now, I have some mixed opinions on this comic. First off, you would think I would absolutely love it being the Purgatori fanboy that I am and with Lucifer in it, well that would just be an added bonus, but it is not so. Though the main drawback is actually the art, I just found it was not up to the greatest of standards and it really was a letdown, as for the story, the story was amazing, truly a great story, but once again it was lacking, in dialogue. I don't think I've ever really noticed this in a comic before but the words spoken just weren't too my taste I guess, the actions occuring were great, and if you'd paraphrase some of the wording it was good, but...still...I feel it took away from the comic the way it was worded. Otherwise, this is a good issue and a recommended read for some history on Purgatori.

Okay, I loved this issue, the whole thing with Dream encountering the Justice League, good stuff, especially since it was my favorite JL members, but anyways, what was really awesome was Dr. Destiny, I mean the man is absolutely insane and he's just chatting it up with some lady that's giving him a ride, after he escaped from an asylum, awesome stuff! The best part is I didn't even see it coming at the end with what he did, it was lovely, almost brought a tear of joy to my eye, this is a great comic and truly excites me for further issues of Sandman!

Yeah, this comic was AMAZING! Truthfully and utterly amazing...the series was a great work and should be remembered as such. This truly has to be one of my favorite comics of all time, and there are no words to describe it, the art, the action, the characters to whom you grow attached only to lose, lose all of them, all of it...with one climactic finish. This comic saddens me even though it was a great story because to me it represents the end of one of the world's greatest publishers but I could not have seen them go out in a better way, this was magnificent, and Oblivia...wow...after this comic I truly am a fan of hers. Please read this series, it is amazing...

Yeah, this series still isn't really turning up for me, I mean the art is great and all...but I don't know I guess the story isn't that spectacular, the character's not that interesting, its just not as good as you might think after seeing some promo shots of the Danger Girls, heck, there not even that hot in the comic. Truthfully at this point, the comic has far from peaked my interest though, with the meeting of these villains obviously from the last series perhaps things will turn up, though I'm not betting my hopes on it.

Okay, so really the comic is worthless and not a quality read at all, but hey, it was f@#king hilarious!! Who would have ever imagined there'd be a comic all about a foul-mouthed prostitute who got superpowers? Well I didn't, but I'm glad there was one, this comic was good for quite a few laughs. Though as a warning, this is for...well...okay...not mature people in the least...but for people who enjoy adult humor pick this up, its great!

Although some of the stuff remains a little confusing, as an overall ending to this miniseries, the ending was...spectacular...couldn't have thought of a better one myself. All in all, the main thing this series did for me is explained to me Rachel's history a bit more as I never understood who she was but the mythologies in this series were a little...confusing, and hard to understand. Other than that I found it good, especially Lucifer's role, it only serves to prove why he's my favorite character, I mean, his cruelty knows no bounds and the way he used Rachel like that, just awesome! Seriously this is just a great series, and I advise all (mature readers) to read it and I don't even think you need The Sandman to enjoy it, its a good stand-a-lone series but at the same time if you want to read Lucifer, you need to read this first.
