Paladin Alexander Anderson is the most powerful agent of the Vatican's Section XIII: the Escariot Organization. He is charged with destroying satanic and occult threats to Christendom, and carries out his duties with a fanatical zeal.

Due to the Vatican's genetic engineering, Father Anderson possesses a significant degree of superhuman strength, allowing him to rip normal humans apart like wet rags. His agility, speed and stamina are also phenomenal. In combat he utilizes special blessed bayonets which cause damage and discomfort to undead and unholy beings. Anderson has access to an unlimited number of these bayonets, and frequently uses them as lethal projectile weapons to impale his opponents before decapitating them. His special Bible has several uses: he can create wardings against undead creatures with its pages and can use these same pages to warp to a desired location. He is an exceptionally skilled fighter.

Anderson's regeneration system allows him to withstand vast amounts of punishment; he shrugs off automatic weapons fire with ease and can be riddled with bullets without suffering any loss of fighting ability. Even a shot to the head will only put him down for a few seconds. However, there are limitations to his regenerative capability. He cannot regenerate lost limbs or organs, though he can survive without them for a period of time, regardless of blood loss. If he loses a limb he must either operate without it or return to base for healing. However, it seems that his durability can be increased for special missions where he may encounter serious resistance, and he gets progressively tougher as he faces more challenging opponents.
