Growing up in the midwest, I've built up a tolerance to extreme cold and hot temperatures. I spend most of my time torturing...I mean teaching mathematics to high school kids. I've been religiously reading comics for over 20 years and am preparing the next generation (ie my daughter) to help keep comics alive.

Origin
G-Man's background is covered in mystery, conspiracy, and several conflicting reports. It is believed that part of this is due to a psionic or telepathic ability on G-Man's part.
When several high ranking government officials in different branches realized that they may have seen this individual at different "incidents," they formed a special sub-committee, despite their differences, to investigate who this man was. One official said he wanted to know "...where the heck was this man from?" Thus he became know as the G-Man from Heck. This group became known as Project G.
One of the members, Special Agent Thaddeus Conrad seemed to be the most interested in the mystery. He could vaguely recall, early in his career, seeing this man in action during the assassination of a U.S. ally. He just couldn't place his finger on the specifics.
Project G seemed to go years without discovering too much information. Upon further investigation, some even questioned if the G-Man's activities stretched further back than they realized. Using their high level of clearance, it was discovered that certain joint documents they possessed appeared to have been altered in different ways. There were even some photos that appeared to have been altered. In some, a man matching G-Man's description could be seen standing in the background. In interviewing former agents at the scene of these incidents, some recalled a man similar after he was brought up but could not recall any specific details. Some claimed this man seemed to posses super strength. A couple others swore they saw green rays fire from his eyes. This reinforced the belief that some sort of mind-manipulation was at work.
Project G continued its investigation now that it seemed to have gained some ground. Agent Conrad eventually came to be seen as the one in charge of the group. He finally decided to undergo deep hypnosis to attempt to unlock his cloudy memories of his first encounter with G-Man. After a half dozen sessions, Agent Conrad didn't seem to be getting any closer.
A few more years went by with nothing more than fairy tales told by questionable sources, Project G was soon to be shut down. The funding just didn't seem feasible. Conrad refused to give up the search. One night while pouring over several classified documents he "borrowed," some censored by those with higher clearance, he seemingly fell asleep. During his sleep, Conrad dreamt the G-Man paid him a visit. His words to Conrad were, "What I do is bigger than you or your government. There's a bigger picture that you simply cannot comprehend. There are some things you may consider to be tragedies that must happen and others that must be prevented." Conrad awoke with a bloody nose and a killer headache. What he discovered was, one of the documents that had previously been blacked out now revealed one name that couldn't be seen before. The name was Dr. Phinius Almeny.
Conrad spent the next two years trying to locate Dr. Almeny. He eventually located him locked in an asylum under a different name. Conrad went to see him. Almeny was deeply sedated and would go back and forth between topics of conversations. Conrad wasn't sure what he could believed. Almeny spoke of an alien capture and genetic manipulation along with a recipe for a kiwi lime pie. Conrad was about to give up when he decided to mention the G-Man. At this, Almeny turned pale white. At almost the exact moment, the power to the asylum went out and chaos erupted. Conrad lost track of Almeny and then he heard him scream. The power returned and Almeny was found cringing in the corner mumbling, "He's here...Project G-Ro.." over and over again. He then went into convulsions and soon passed away. Conrad was at a loss and had no clue what "Jeerow" was. As the doctors attended to Almeny, Conrad looked out the window. At the edge of the grounds, he thought he could see G-Man standing there looking at him with a sad look on his face.
In an instant, right before his eyes, he was gone.

Comic Vine Interviews Mike Allred!
A lot of people know that G-Man here is a big fan of Mike Allred. Interviewing him was like a dream come true.
MA: There were plans and much material, but then I renewed my commitment to comics with forming AAA Pop and publishing The Atomics on a monthly schedule. Movies may be the most tempting detour from comics, but unless the Madman movie spawns sequels, there isn't much that could keep me from sticking to an exclusive production of comics. That's where my chi is.

G-Man's Reviews
Let me start off by saying I really don't know much about the Virgin Comics characters. I know a bit about the company and their philosophy, it's a great thing. I'd like to know more about their comics but my local comic shop doesn't really carry their titles and the company itself never got back to me when I tried contacting them to promote their stuff here.
So thanks to Top Cow and Witchblade I got my first introduction to Devi. She seems like an interesting character and from what I've seen in this issue, this team-up makes sense as the two seem to be similar in certain ways.
So why only three and half stars? There were certain things that bothered me. I guess the first thing is how the "team-up" is set up. A New York cop getting flown out to India? How often does that happen? Is it in the budget? Ron Marz did a good job with the writing just as he's been doing on Witchblade's title now. The art seemed a little...inconsistent. Some pages looked so lovely while others sometimes felt a little rushed. Not really dramatically rushed but just felt a little off. But there were some nice scenes.
So how does the first meeting between Witchblade and Devi go? I'll let you take a guess. I wonder how this story will end. I also wonder if I'll get a chance to read it.
If you're a fan of either character, you'll enjoy this. If you're a fan of both, what more could you ask for?
Witchblade #117: Advent, Part 2 of 3
When I first started reading this issue it felt like I was watching the History Channel or something. We get about six pages going back to the Third Crusade and the quest for the Holy Grail. Why? It all becomes clear later.
I do have to say "goddamn!" when it comes to Stjepan Sejic's art. It's like, comic books aren't suppose to look this good. It's almost haunting in a way. It just adds a whole other feel to the comic. That's a good thing. You almost feel like you have to take the comic seriously. You're not just reading what they used to call a "funny book." Who called them that? Think that was before my time. But I digress...
The other thing I really liked about this issue is it didn't have a lot of Dani in it. Don't get me wrong. I like Dani. I think she's a great character. I think it's great that both she and Sara get a piece of the Witchblade. They're both good in their own ways and we're getting the best of both worlds having two Witchblade bearers. Buuut, this whole David Worthy storyline is just getting me annoyed with her. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has seen some shadiness with his first appearance. Worthy? Not really. As can be seen on the main cover of this issue, he's finally showing his true colors. As for the why and how he's able to have those "colors," that's bound to knock you on your ass. At least I didn't quite see it coming.
I do like seeing Sara in action on the force in her new Weird Crimes unit. Sejic makes a gruesome-looking crime scene. I like how we're getting a taste of what she has to do dealing with the on-going investigation. This serial killer will definitely be giving Sara some problems. That is if she survives this issue...
The Darkness - Volume 3 #3: Empire, Part Three: Hour of the Witch
With the third issue of The Darkness, we're starting to see how and why Jackie ended up in Sierra Munoz. We also see the first meeting with Jackie and Dr. Kirchner and where the idea for the synthetic drug came from. Can he be trusted? What's up with Elle?
As for the action part, you might wonder how the Darkness will do against an army strikeforce. With explosions all around, can the Darkness stand a chance? What do you think. Since Jackie is being attacked, he gets to go all out on his opposition.
Hester and Broussard deliver another issue on the same level as they've done so far. The consistency is a good thing. Even though the extreme action is fast-paced, the back-and-forth flashbacks to Jackie and Kirchner's time together help to keep you on the edge of your seat. Part of you will want to go back to the action to see what happens next. At the same time you want to stay in the past to see the details between the Jackie and Kirchner.
A part of me misses Jackie in his old surroundings yet I'm liking his time in Sierra Munoz. I'm hoping that the attack and other events in this issue may not be leading to the end of his stay there. I think there's a lot of things that could be explored having Jackie in such a different environment.
This issue does a good job with a cliffhanger ending. You'll be on the edge of your seat waiting for issue #4. Poor Jackie...
The Darkness: Butcher #1: Where The Bodies Are Buried
This was such an enjoyable comic. First thing I have to know is how did Rob Levin know all the facts about "clean up" that Butcher shows and tells us about on page 1? Hmmm...
Rob is mainly an editor at Top Cow so it's great to see that he knows what he's doing. This was a well written tale. Who would've thought Butcher, a man that cleans up the kills of the Franchetti Family, could carry a whole issue? There's also the fact that you can actually feel for a guy that has to be completely unfeeling in his...profession.
The art...Michael Broussard continues to kick butt with his pencil in hand. Top Cow did the right thing in signing him to an exclusive contract.
What I also want to know is will we see more of this Mr. Nolan? I can't see the Franchetti Family being too happy with the way Butcher is treated in this story.
Check this out as soon as it hits the stands.
Witchblade #116: Advent, Part 1 of 3
I've been praising Witchblade for the last few months now. They've also been kind enough to give new readers several jumping on points. You get nice re-caps here that aren't really painfully forced if you have been reading for while. But I say that's it. Everyone should be reading this now.
The big hoopla is that writer Ron Marz and artist Stjepan Sejic are on board until at least issue 150. That's pretty amazing. I have really really enjoyed the last few issues with Sami Basri's art but now we have stability. While I enjoy both styles are art, they are different. At first it felt a little weird reading this issue after 115. Sejic's art truly is amazing.
And even though this issue continues to set things up, we do also move forward on other fronts. Dani moves to the next step in her relationship with Tom Worthy. I have to say that there has to be something mystical about this dude. He has to have some power over her. She seems to be acting...stupid. She's told this guy she barely knows everything that she knows about the Witchblade and Sara. I've been suspicious of him from his first appearance. With an incident that happens in this issue and what appears to be the cover for next month's, it doesn't look like I'm too far off.
We get an update on how Sara's sister, Julie, is doing. Sara also starts her first day with the Special Cases division. What a first case she gets. She's going to have her hands full. She better hope that only having half the Witchblade will be enough.
As always, I'm left waiting for the next issue. I like where this is going.
