razzatazz's Mystery in Space #16 review

    Out of touch

The first story here is kind of an anamoly I liked it more than a lot of the recent stories in this series at the same time knowing it is impossible.  It involves a couple on a space honeymoon and attempt to blow up the Saturnian moon of Hyperion.  It was not even good by most standards but most of the stories in the series to this point have been much further off.  There is then an information page on the formation of the Moon's craters though of course the explanation of this is known now.  A "Giants of the Telescope" feature follows featuring Christiaan Huygens.  The next story is about an insurance salesman.  If that doesn't sound exciting enough the plot basically follows him as he tries to get out of paying life insurance policies to a bunch of aliens he sold them to.  The next story is about a man who is kidnapped by aliens and forced to challenge a powerful robots that can control people's minds.  This story was pretty average, the more so with the hokey ending reaffirming mankind's dominance as a superior species.  Following this there is a fact sheet on stars.  The last story sort of has a good concept but descends into a weird almost nonsensical ending.  Overall this issue was pretty much middle of the road, not the best of the series by far, but also not the worst.
