    Origin

Mummy's Boy (his real name was never given) was a youth, apparently in his early teens, whose overprotective mother literally babied him, forcing him to wear a bonnet and infant's clothing, pushing him around in a pram, and refusing to let him do anything his peers did, consistently deeming whatever toys they had or activities they were doing to be far too dangerous for her child. Desperate to be treated like his peers and have fun, each week Mummy's Boy would enact elaborate schemes to escapes Mummy's clutches for a little while, but said plans almost inevitably resulted in him being injured, thus reinforcing Mummy's paranoia.

    Creation

Mummy's Boy was created for Monster Fun #1, 14th June 1975, by Norman Mansbridge.

    Character Evolution

Mummy's Boy appeared throughout the entire run of Monster Fun, in one of the few strips not to feature a literal monster. He survived Monster Fun's cancellation and merger with Buster, where he enjoyed a long run, still never escaping his mother's clutches. Finally, with an impending merger with Nipper forcing Buster to drop existing strips to make space for incoming ones, Mummy's Boy finally had his last adventure in the 12th September 1987 issue, after a run of over twelve years.
