is a comic book published by Marvel Publishing & released on 3 / / 2007Plot Summary
Overview
Once upon a time, Carol Danvers was a novelist. This morning, at the New York Public Library, a child with the ability to turn anything he imagines into reality has begun to read Carol’s sci-fi epic “Binary,” based loosely on her own life amongst the stars. Within minutes, the library is overrun with visions from Carol’s book and soon all of New York City is threatened! Brian Reed (Ms. Marvel, New Avengers: Illuminati) and Giuseppe Camuncoli (Captain Atom: Armageddon) team up for this one-shot special guest-starring Simon “Wonder Man” Williams and re-introducing one of Ms. Marvel’s oldest threats!
Two teenage kids are in the library and they choose a novel written by Carol Danvers. Gavin reads the story to his friend. As he reads from a time Carol, as Binary, roamed the stars after her time with the Starjammers, the words begin to take shape.
Nearby, Carol and Simon Williams (Wonder Man) are about to enjoy a nice lunch when an enormous figure suddenly appears over New York. The two go to investigate. As they approach, they can hear the voice of Gavin reading Carol's book, which she recognizes. As soon as Simon touches the figure, he falls, seemingly having the life taken out of him.
Carol notices that the entire city is being affected by the reading and manages to determine that it is coming from the library. Inside, she finds herself in deep space. Gavin has become lost and can no longer find the book to continue reading. It seems that he has the ability to broadcast books when he reads them out loud.
As Carol makes her way toward a planet where she thinks Gavin is, she is overcome by the Swarm. Having to try to make things up, Gavin imagines Carol as Binary and she now has the power to go supernova. Carol manages to burn away the swarm and reality is restored.
As Carol and the boys leave the library, they are surrounded by A.I.M. Gavin, not wanting to go back and be experimented on further, imagines the terrorist group behind bars. It seems that Carol helped Gavin realize the extent of his powers and that he can simply rewrite reality.
Rather than accept help from Carol, he imagines her back to where she was before the events took place, having lunch with Simon.
