A lot of fans thought the original Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers) could be hardcore (due to her military and Kree background), but Dr. Karla Sofen, formerly known as Moonstone, currently known as Ms. Marvel, is a cold blooded killer. This is explained in livid detail when a psychic forces Sofen to admit a dark secret and she shows no remorse, instead giving an analysis of what it means to be a killer. This all happens after she slaughters would-be bank robbers and is heralded as a true champion by the police and surrounding crowd for doing, "-- what needed doing."
Brian Reed paints a perfect picture of the woman who's sole motivation is selfishness and provides an excellent introduction for readers unaware of the former member of the Masters of Evil and the Thunderbolts. While Rebeckah Issacs' artwork is solid, her Ms. Marvel can (at times) look somewhat awkward, and her version of the Hulk is something to be desired. Still both story and art make a fantastic read and readers excited for what's to come!
