    This Series Keeps Getting Worse

    The Story:
Carol Danver's old foe Ghazi Rashid resurfaces and she tracks him down with her powers on the fritz which results in her apparent demise. Norman Osborn informs Moonstone who has been masquerading as Ms Marvel that she is now the only Ms Marvel alive. A.I.M. hires Deadpool to procure strange objects that Moonstone is in possession of.

    My Thoughts:
These six issues are written by the regular Ms Marvel series writer Brian Reed. While I don't think Reed is a bad writer, he has yet to impress me on this series. I haven't felt that he has done anything of significance with Ms Marvel's character. I really want to like Ms Marvel and enjoy reading comics about her, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult to do that.

Reed begins this book with the appearance of an old enemy of Carol Danvers who wasn't interesting at all. I found this part of the story extremely slow and boring. I didn't really care about it. I'm not completely sure if that's due to bad writing or a lack of interest in Ms Marvel's background.

After all that blows over the rest of the book centers around Moonstone being Ms Marvel which was another thing I didn't like too much. I know this volume was tying into Dark Reign so I understand Moonstone being around, but to completely take Carol Danvers out of a couple issues wasn't necessary. The cliffhanger sets up the next story arc War Of The Marvels. I'm not sure what to think about that honestly.

The art was done by a handful of artists which was something I didn't like. Usually I don't mind too much if there's more than one different art style in a book. I do prefer one but I can accept more than one style if they're all nicely done. That wasn't the case here. The styles are drastically different from one another. I liked the art towards the end. The coloring was pretty cool. I liked the vibrant effects used in comparison to the bland appearance of the art in the beginning.

I can't honestly say I would recommend this to anyone. So far this series has been more of a disappointment than anything else. It has had a few decent moments but not enough to spark my interest.

    Rating: 2/5
