    Because of her social status and how her daughter's actions reflect upon the family, Mrs. Parrish is constantly checking with Drusilla to make sure that she is doing things for the right reasons. Despite Drusilla's inability to appreciate how engagements are supposed to be done she supports her daughter in her various marriage situations.
